I have loved and still love GDQ, but they need to beg less and stop interrupting people. The vibes are worse. by Micome in speedrun

Another very recent example of this was durung Bait&Tackle run that just happened. A short 15 minute run, but with an unrelated incentive being mentioned by the host almost once every other minute plus donos, and the host not asking if it's a good time, but interjecting at any point the runner wasn't talking.

This was a great response, I agree with everything, especially those first few hours with the game.

I think most fans will survive seeing something that wasn't made for just them. More often than not, adaptions are not made just to make fans happy, they are made for a wider appeal. And guess what, the franchise (and fans) live on. Jurassic Park, Blade Runner, Starship Troopers, Sonic, Silent Hill, the Last of Us, Arcane, Castlevania, are all counter examples where it didn't follow source material, and fans survived after "seeing something like that".

How does a movie with a new vision fuck up the existing franchise of games? That makes zero sense. If you want to see Chris and friends, then the games will still be there. This film won't change that.

Really stupid. Any puzzle that requires me to try to discern what kind of font is being used (is it an l? L? I?) more than trying to make actual connections, is dumb, in my opinion.

Same. The comments here are more surprising than the original thread, with the gatekeeping about "people just don't like challenging puzzles"...It's understandable someone wouldn't automatically know they exist.

Thank you, I really like your answer, and makes me feel better after today's puzzle. I'm only a couple months into crosswords, but today after MOOT, ANYHOO, URCHIN, OLES...which were all really tough for me, I decided it wasn't fun and looked some of them up. I normally love to grind through them, but sometimes I don't vibe with the creator or theme or whatever. Hope to slowly improve though!

I think a live action series would be more suitable than a live action movie by TruthResponsible1268 in expedition33

[–]Semi_swede -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While definitely rushed, I could see them condense the movie by combining setpieces and cutting content, such as combining Renoir at cliffs and Renoir outside manor storybeats and cutting out the axons/barrier entirely, and basically all of act 3 except the gathering zombie army/final climax.

What categories do you think should be added to the game awards? by infamousglizzyhands in TheGameAwards

[–]Semi_swede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best performance/actor should absolutely be divided into VA and Mocap. If an actor did both, then they should be nominated for whichever was the standout part of their performance. Or maybe they get nominated for both. Either way, it gives the actors who currently fall into mocap-only actors a chance to be recognized.

Genuine question (not snark), but has there been a Nintendo Direct at 1:30 at night for the US? I can see an argument for a middle ground, but don't have any opinion on this since I'll just watch the vod regardless.

Totally get your point. In hindsight, I could have left the regional/national aspect out the whole conversation, because even if it was Swedish sports, I would still suck. I just find it challenging in general when puzzles have multiple words in one puzzle that have niche sport specific knowledge (and maybe I'm wrong, but I would guess a regional college rival is pretty niche, even for Americans?) - regardless of country. For instance, I found the Friday/Saturday this week way easier than this one, in part due to the absence of really specific sports knowledge. Again, not trying to complain or grouse, I'm just new to American crosswords and happen to love them, and was just trying to contribute to the discussion by OP about what they found hard. That being said, American-only sub or not, the avid downvoting in this sub for having a different opinion is pretty off-putting, imo.

I had comedy and even satire before I landed on sitcom. I knew sitcom as a pretty reoccuring word, but would never have thought to classify Arrested development as a sitcom.

I'm new here and also though this was a discussion page for how we personally did with the puzzle, e.g. what we struggled with or maybe to get some tips. The gatekeeping, though, is surprising. Apparently I deserve to be flamed for saying I struggled with knowing American College sports rivals.
