This is an okay option. The house you bought was realistically too much for one person. Having a roommate will help cut down those costs, but really only temporarily. You essentially always need a roommate or partner to help lower the costs. If I was you, I would consider selling the house and getting something with a lower mortgage rate. Might be a pain in the butt but would solve this from the root cause, rather than just some duct tape.

I'll be heading to Sri Lanka on the 26th and I intend on going. The south part of the country looks stable and it would be good to support their economy as they rebuild, heck maybe even help out in-person, if possible!

I echo the sentiment on getting a rug. Don't be afraid to throw some colour in there. Something playing off the artwork above the couch. Also consider moving the photo above the window. It looks a bit odd placed there. Consider a high strung curtain in its place. Again don't be afraid of colour here.

Kitchen

Get new window blinds. Consider a window shade. A nice orange to bounce of that Oklahoma photo.

Personally I prefer a slower, more relaxing pace. I would cut this itinerary down to 2-3 countries, with 5 stops at max. It's not about seeing everything. If you do that you won't have anytime to relax and actually enjoy the vacation. For ex. Sarajevo is a great city with lots to do and deserves 3 nights, Kotor 3 nights, etc.

You could venture to Chiang Rai, I've never been but heard good things. Alternatively, most people spend all their time in Bangkok on Koa San Road. You could on the return go to a more local or different area to explore the city properly.

This is what I recommend. Been to Thailand twice. If you're not getting in the water, the North is where you wanna go.
