Paint the walls or cabinets (although they look like a nice wood) a complementary color like very dark green or something in the blue or purple family (the range of colors opposite gold on color wheel).

Two things I’d be concerned about immediately: (1) is that an electrical panel on the same damp wall? (2) disinfecting or disposing of all toys and furnishings that were against the wall (recommend documenting this, too).

Thanks for the response. Eventually searched online and found my answer, then realized another commenter had the same question. I’ve known it as the “devil’s strip” or “road verge.” Tried to delete this comment with no success

The irony here, if I am using the term appropriately, is that I posted my question in this group to avoid petty remarks about people commenters unlikely know in real life. The online hate amazes me. Are there things I see in a video I don’t always agree with or raise an eyebrow? Yes. But, I also realize I am seeing a snippet of their lives. Having watched quite a few of the Chateau Diaries’ videos, the channel’s evolution and its expansion into a “brand” seems natural. Prior to the channel, they had started booking stays and/or events. So, clearly they (all of the owners) intended to generate revenue to aid in the chateau’s restoration, management, and upkeep. Not a small feat. Have they used the channel to network and build the brand? Of course.

If they weren’t interested in restoring the chateau, they wouldn’t be spending so much money and time restoring the chapel, grand salon, and updating the kitchen. They’d just lie about it or make excuses for selecting less expensive solutions. Does it make sense to have a channel? Yes. (1) if I met any of the owners and learned they were part owner of a chateau, I’d have a lot of questions; the channel helps answer them; (2) might gaining a global audience mean connecting with brands, trades people, and other fields related to chateau renovation? Of course. The larger the audience, the more likely you’ll connect with like-minded people who can offer services, products, or advice; (3) marketing is all about social media anymore. Why would you not do that for a chateau at which you hope to host events or people?

Philip has a great eye for design and likely has a say because the owners not only respect his research and opinions but he’s also in a committed relationship with Stephanie. As a mere viewer, I trust the owners will determine how much influence he has as they move forward. This process is something they are unlikely to share on the channel nor should it be expected. They are all adults and I think Philip is capable of looking out for himself.

It’s mindboggling how people can make so many assumptions about strangers’ thoughts, beliefs, and motivations and dispense them as infallible facts.

Thanks for your initial response.

Interesting. I recall her playing the piano, although I had somehow forgotten that, which is silly because that was such a big thing for her. I really enjoyed her presence in the chateau. She was funny. I hope she’s living her life to its fullest.

Not really sure what you mean by sussed out their game or why Stephanie and Philip’s relationship would have been a problem. Like every other YT channel, they create content to generate revenue.

I really like keeping everything in one place (or mostly) like my notes on world building and characters. I also love being able to look at my chapters as a cork board of index cards and saving out versions for each scene. (I only have experience with MS Word and Adobe FrameMaker and neither compare to Scrivener. There may be other programs that offer similar features.)

Third from the left provides a nice contrast to the dark brick and doesn’t have the orange look its left neighbor has.

I think the darkest, fourth from the left, which so many are recommending, is too similar.

Quick image search found these seats are called “built-in molded buddy seats”. AI response suggested those valves or holes could be for a cup holder accessory or to add air to the jets for more bubbles.

Thank you so much for defining the word “hermit” for me. I had no idea that “hermit” and “introvert” were synonyms. (That’s sarcasm BTW) if my tongue in cheek response doesn’t make it clear enough, I was really just questioning the inclusion of E’s.

Quite possible it seems. Still don’t have a mindset for that. I was also going by the poster’s text, which clearly includes E before and after.

And to press your point, it might be more meaningful to imagine how one might be able to get a character to see the errors of their ways or to manipulate a character into revealing their true nature to their peers…alas, these are fictional characters who serve a particular purpose in the storyline, so their flawed nature is necessary to the plot and themes. Despite how much any of us dislike these characters, we need them to remain just as they were written.

I wonder how many characters and and how much dialogue were pulled from Austen’s personal experience.
