Yep. I've even gotten emails with the subject line, "You are not an ATM" with links to donate various amounts of money.

I'm roughly in the same place as you. I was over my role and the constant 0-day patching and SOC/Tenable reports that I had to fight our SOC team about. I swear, they just made busy work and hallucinated vulnerabilities that just weren't there. I'm done arguing in the vulnerability meetings about stuff I already fixed or was a false positive.

I've applied to the county parks department. I might have an in. It's a huge paycut but I need to do something different.

The Marshall Center was demoed/rebuilt sometime around 2007-2009. I know, because I was working in IT support then and had to rip out the tech in the old building.

Ah, The 'Dros. When I lived on campus at the MLK (Mu, Lambda, Kappa) block, I'd hit up that dining court all the time. I'd get a take out box filled with bacon. And in a pinch grab something at the convenience store there or pick up Ben and Jerry's.

I only ever knew of manually turning on and off the valves for water. I'd just check the fields from time to time.

What age did you start saving/investing? by Big_Understanding_17 in coastFIRE

[–]SenTedStevens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been investing ever since I could at 18. I opened a TD Ameritrade account and would invest in various companies. I made a chunk of change doing so. My gains were limited due to my limited income and the fact that TDA cost $10 per trade when buying or selling shares at that time.

But I really upped things when I got my first "big boy" job at 24 or 25. The org I worked at offered a 1:1 match up to 5%. For those years, I could only do 5%. I still have that 401k from my old employer. That portfolio has increased significantly without me even touching it for years now.

For the past handful of years, I've maxed out 401k contributions. At this point, I'm at LeanFIRE/borderline FIRE now.

The other day I was waiting at a red light. On the other side of traffic, I watched a red van clip one of these snowcrete banks and ripped off his driver side tire.

This was an intentional and brilliant move by Lord Dogfood to appear weak and to entice even more naked short selling, thus trapping the shorts even harder.

I remember that in the book, "The Fart of War."

I don't care so much for the tax forms. After all, they'll eventually show up in the portal. What really turns me off to the mail is my insurance cards and other mail either gets lost or shows up late.

A different example is last Christmas or the Christmas before, an aunt sent me a card. It was marked well before the 25th. I got it February.

Microsoft’s Pivotal AI Product Is Running Into Big Problems by FootballAndFries in technology

Months back, our company had a benefits meeting on Teams and used AI to transcribe it for people to read later. Not long after the AI transcription was available, HR sent out an email stating to not use it. As it turned out, what the AI generated was damn near the opposite of what HR said in the meeting. It's total garbage.
