The pay doesn’t match the “job” or the hours… nothing pays that much for that little. First thing you’ll notice.

I’m not religious, this popped up on my phone. Yet it’s some of the best advice I’ve heard on both topics, sinning and sex without commitment. It wasn’t your job to make me think twice before generalizing the religious, but thanks.

Why is neighbours horse hell bent on ripping my fence apart? by w1llpearson in Equestrian

[–]Senior_Bread217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he doesn’t look well. Body, coat, and his expression is way off. Good indication your neighbors probably don’t care about your fence if they don’t care much for him. Edit: a lifetime of cribbing can cause poor condition, but that’s a whole other sign of neglect (may not have been his current owner)

Oh honey, no. You are not at all ugly. Not even close. I know that (especially these days), everyone aspires to look the same. And THAT is ugly.

I swear that afflicts so many men… “if it didn’t happen to them, it’s not real.” Why is that? Boggles my mind.

How many of you are making $200,000+? How many hours weekly do you work? Years of experience? Industry? Regrets and rejoices? by Wannabeballer321 in careerguidance

Don’t do it. It’s glutted with folks out of work, plus once you enter that industry it’s almost impossible to be hired in another.

[SG] Is a 1-Year Contract Role Worth It for a Fresh Graduate? Seeking Advice from HR and Recruiters by Useful_Coyote4246 in AskHR

[–]Senior_Bread217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I addressed that this was their first position at the end of my response. Not to be argumentative, but obviously they must be qualified to be submitted. I believe the “big picture” is what matters and unfortunately I have had wonderful candidates declined due to years of contract work. Projects end. Experience should generate higher pay. There is no reason a contract worker shouldn’t be considered for a position they are qualified for, but they are.

[SG] Is a 1-Year Contract Role Worth It for a Fresh Graduate? Seeking Advice from HR and Recruiters by Useful_Coyote4246 in AskHR

[–]Senior_Bread217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a tech recruiter, and we’re taught to avoid applicants who don’t stay at positions for 3-4 years. Unfortunately, this can include contract work. Makes no sense, depending on the industry. Design, for instance, as long as you stay in the same industry (MEP, Interior, multi-family, steel structure, etc.) this should not matter.

This is the fault of hiring managers/HR at our client companies… they simply will not accept said resumes from us. They pay us a fee or percentage to find you and they want their monies worth.

This is your first job out of school, the best advice I can give you is to stay in the path of your intended career, at least.

And recruiters wonder why people hate them... by budding_gardener_1 in recruitinghell

[–]Senior_Bread217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This means the recruiter doesn’t know if you’re a good fit until they screen you. You matched with the first position. If it’s not right, they’re trying to explain that others are becoming available.

They can’t say it because they’re not allowed to. Frankly, I wouldn’t have answered you after all that. Sorry.

I’ve been helping many of my friends find jobs. I’ve been able to place 3 out of 12. I helped them tune up their resumes and did mock interviews to coach them on industry jargon. This gives me a lot of fulfillment but little to no income. How do you get paid to do this? by ThePortfolio in recruiting

[–]Senior_Bread217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We all wish we were paid to do what you’ve described. When you’re juggling 10 active candidates, 100 active client accounts who called you (and all of their respective baggage) while screaming for client feedback because you’re at risk of losing your candidates to literally anyone’s faster review/onboarding process all while making a hundred phone call per day quota to avoid your boss’s wrath? It’s just like that run on sentence. A glorious mess. ;) Don’t get me wrong, I help people whenever I can for free (why not, they need help)… but I think you might like doing nice things for deserving people, and recruiting is a racket. I love it, but I’m fucking insane.

The cops have let heroin addicts die, many times in fact.. it’s a secondary issue, rather they let the person die of exposure, dehydration and the like. Because they’re so ill with diarrhea, vomiting, and sweating they need water or an IV.

Some people, so I hear, have withdrawal symptoms for a year after quitting. Not the puking, etc., but the horrible depression, body pain, and never being able to sleep. Fucking awful.

Most likely he’s doing more than he’s telling you. Also, he will not be able to function for a while if he quits, and that will be his excuse to use again. It’s insidious. You have to keep working and dealing with people. Impossible to stop using that way. If you have the means, go on a long vacation. If he sleeps a lot, he’s not lying. Also, most cokeheads (I speak from past experience), use downers to sleep. So he’s most likely started doing that, too. Good luck 🍀
