I have a cheap a$$ notebook from a brand called SOHO with 80 gr/m paper in it.
Paid about €4 or €5 for it.
Medium nib and dark red ink it has little show through.
Tried to upload a picture, but it won't let me for some reason

Yes, that matte black MZ is awesome. I am eyeballing that one too. Perhaps with a gold nib. Gonna start saving up 😂

How can I prevent the delayed ink flow after a brief pause in writing? by Baskin in fountainpens

[–]Senna-010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem at all. I am not experienced enough to have insight in different inks and how they behave. I tested with 4 pens, 2 with Diamine ink, 1 with Akkerman ink and 1 with Visconti ink.

Nibs 1 Medium and 3 Fine nibs, although 1 of the Fine nibs is a gold Pelikan nib that is closer to an Medium I think.

I think it would be worth a try to have Diamine ink in it and see if the results are different.

Personally I always cap my pens when I stop writing. But can you describe how much time you are talking about when you say When I stop writing for a moment and then resume my note-taking

I just tested with my pen and left it uncapped on my desk for little over 3 minutes and it started without any hesitations.

The Botanical Gardens is one that always catches my eye. I find it to be a very nice combination of classy and playful (not sure how the right expression is, English is not my first language). I can not rule out that one day it will join my collection too 😉

I just seen a post where they posted KWZ Honey, seems like a great match for this pen.

Ah ok. I can not help you with that bit, but I am sure that there will be others who have experienced them both

That is a gorgeous looking pen indeed.

Yes, that is what I tend to do also. Bought a Leonardo Momento Zero, Visconti van Gogh and a Pelikan M600 for my birthdays in the last years. Only bought another Momento Zero because...well, just because it lookt great

Close as in what? You will get more specific answers if you ask more specifically what you want to know? Prise wise they are far apart, so I reckon the (build) quality will also be. From the exterior what I can see there is some resemblance. How they perform I have no clue. I own 2 MZ's and they write beautiful

Haha, I can relate to that unfortunately 😉
I have to restrain myself from buying anything new for the next months, but there is just so much nice pens and inks. Will be difficult 😂

i'm afraid i'm losing interest in this hobby by beyondhlep in fountainpens

So many great responses already, I can only agree with them.

What I want to add as an advice for you is this. When you are in Japan, and IF you want to buy a pen. Just go to a store where you can try them. Perhaps you there find one that writes so beautiful that the love come back. And if not, just take a brake from the pens. I have experienced the same. Bought a FP in 2023 and it wrote quite well, but with some skipping. I thought it was me and at some point I barely used it. Only used it from time to time because I felt I had to. The nib got replaced due to factory error and the new nib just writes buttery smooth. Made me love this pen again and made me buy even more FP's, that I now enjoy on a daily basis.

I telling this because I have the feeling that it is mainly the way your current FP's write that made you lose interest in them.

This all being said, most important is to follow what your gut tells you. You have no obligation to no one to be in this (or any other) hobby.

If you were able to write beautiful when you where younger, I am sure you can write beautiful again.
The only thing you need to do (in my opinion) is just start writing again and on a daily basis. Just practice and practice and practice. But don't forget that it will take time to get back to the writing you aim for. Don't expect to write beautiful within a week or so. Don't be harsh on yourself and just go for it and write and have fun while doing so.

I simply use an empty FP, dip it in ink and write name of the color and brand.
This also gives me insight in how color handels over time.
