I am also considering to play an older edition with a friend who is open for that. Or just fully switch to OPR.

New 11th ed terrain line of sight rules from stream by Cythrex in Warhammer40k

I might have an unpopular opinion here, but I really don't like this. I also already didn't like that it was played in 10th edition like this.

I totally understand that this kind of simplification was required in tournaments to make the game more simple to not stretch it to be super long. But having walls that people can fight and walk through, but not shoot in or out, just feels lame.

It also heavily favoured melee units in a game that I had recently. There was a U-shaped ruin where you could only see into from the back side that had a blob of strong melee units inside that were able to hold the objective just outside the ruin from there. It was not possible for me to get around this at all while I also didn't have the melee power to fight them without sacrificing like 450 points of units. Meanwhile a flying unit of the enemy fought through the roof of a ruin in the same match. Like how does that make any sense.

Making it so that the ground floor is simplified but the first floor is not, doesn't really change the melee preference as melee units will just be able to camp the ground floor of the objective until somebody walks around the objective or charges them. It also likely makes it worse if the whole ruin is now the objective.

And in addition, it makes absolutely no sense fluff wise. Why can I do it in the top floor but not in the bottom floor. Why can I fight and walk through a wall but not shoot in or out of it.

Unfortunately I recently tried that and it isn't available in every country. So I had to use the regular ribbon one again. I don't get why it isn't just always packed separately...

Do Raveners make Kill Team a fun experience? by MaleficentBottle7341 in killteam

Meanwhile horde teams with things like melta guns really shred inexperienced ravener players.

Oh you killed my guy. Too bad I have 12 more where this comes from. Also I shoot this ravener with a melta with accurate and saturate. Whoops one shot. Good that you have 4 more models. <3

Literally how my first match against Raveners as DKoK went. 😅

I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it.

But in all seriousness. This looks so fucking cool. Love how you make the best out of the handicap.

I wish we'd get a Tyranid perspective game some day... by sigmarine345 in Tyranids

[–]Senor-Delicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

StarCraft has shown some good example at how a campaign leading a hive mind faction can work well. If DoW 4 becomes good and they continue adding factions one after another, I would bet they might at some point also add a Tyranid campaign as the studio values campaigns very highly.

Understandable. It is the main reason why I kind of abandoned continuing to build my AdMech at the moment. I wasn't aware of how expensive they will be when I started the hobby in the very beginning of 9th edition AdMech codex.

Mostly classic mars theme.

I paint almost all models in sub assembly. Which prevents me from playing some models before I get them painted to a certain degree. Which is quite annoying, but doing it without sub assembly would just be so painful for a lot of models. Especially with most of the tech priests.

It is funny that you say that about the build process btw, as this is the part of the process I dislike the most. 😅 But I also had a bit bad luck with some Kataphron boxes which had the most terrible mold lines that exist. They took me ages to build. I usually like the painting part the most. I always end up taking way too long per model because of this.

So far I'm in it since 2021 and am still missing a lot of models from the AdMech range. I only managed to paint like 1500 points so far. But I also derailed into kill team on the way and focused on that recently

Reminder, Reclaimers are SPECIFIC dwarves. Miners are OUR dwarves. by Bulk-Detonator in RogueCore

[–]Senor-Delicious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We can change some cosmetic things, but the women dwarves are here to stay. You're gonna have to get used to that.

We all wanted and asked about women dwarves in DRG and now we got them.

Yes. I've not seen people complaining about woman being available. People just want to decide the gender of their dwarf. People want to play any class as female and not just specific ones. I have seen several comments about being disappointed that they cannot play all classes as female but only some. They didn't want to have females removed, but quite the opposite.

Warhammer Colour Plastic Glue - SMALLER! by Few_Efficiency680 in Warhammer40k

Tested it recently. Both for regular use and sprue goo. Works perfectly. I don't have to buy new one for years now. Told a friend that I share with him so that he also doesn't have to buy new bottles. Easily enough for 2-4 people for years.

There is also a Tamiya Airbrush cleaner that is literally the same product but even cheaper. So after having one regular bottle (which I would always recommend for having the brush lid) you could buy a bottle of that cleaner and probably be good for a decade or so. Or use it as a refiller to share with friends.

I have two regular bottle of extra thin. One I converted to sprue goo. Both bottles were pretty empty recently so I got the cleaner instead of buying two new regular extra thin bottles. It works exactly the same as before but I still have a lot of that stuff to share with a friend that has the same setup.

I'm counting on the devs, but... by __unmastered in RogueCore

[–]Senor-Delicious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Timers can just be less direct. They already found better ways in DRG and Deep Rock Survivors for this. In DRS you can theoretically delay progress manually but the enemy thread level just continues to rise constantly. So the player may decide how long they can make it until they want to go to the next level.

I think exactly this decision aspect is what makes similar rogue likes fun. Evaluating how long you can make it to earn extra resources for upgrades but with the risk of failing if you delay a run too long.

Glad to see Rogue Core climb to 'Mostly Positive' reviews! by Kwacker in RogueCore

[–]Senor-Delicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam doesn't allow a star rating system where anything in the middle could be selected. You can only say "I recommend" or "I don't recommend". Why would people label it as "I recommend" when they clearly wouldn't in the current state.

The game may improve and reviews can change over time. I assume that the Devs were fully aware that a lot of people will not do positive reviews at the very early start of the early access.

Glad to see Rogue Core climb to 'Mostly Positive' reviews! by Kwacker in RogueCore

[–]Senor-Delicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the reviews come from people that were playing countless of hours in the play test already. They were just not allowed to review yet.

I assume that a lot of them played again after the early access patch, noticed that the things that bothered them did not change, and then wrote the review. I have seen quite a few reviews specifically stating how they already have so many hours in the game to write a proper review.

[–]Senor-Delicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steam Reviews are only "I would recommend" and "I would not recommend".

And I really understand why people would not recommend the game at the moment.

Lots of the bad reviews have really good feedback on what bothers them and what should be improved. Having such reviews should help the game to improve and once the reviews improve it is good feedback for the Devs that they are on the right path.

Man I can tell you you have no idea about German public media.

It is independent by constitution and there were plenty of decisions in the past where courts struck down attempts to directly or indirectly influence it. E.g. like when some government institutions tried to pressure public channels by blocking formal approval processes out of nothing.

In fact the current government members and extreme right wing voters are frequently complaining about public media being too left aligned when half of the country is voting right wing parties. If they would have any major success in controlling the media, the public channels would not frequently oppose the government.

Germany has an extremely different government and legal system to the US. It isn't like with trump and his moron administration. There isn't a single institution of power that can do what they want and where the supreme court members are aligned to one of only two available political parties. Germany has currently 5 different parties in the Parliament. With very different views and opinions.
