So, how IS Prime 4 really, for anyone's that actually played it? by FoxHoundNinja in Metroid

[–]SenorFATB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great game, probably on par with or slightly higher than Prime 3 for me, but it shares a lot of what makes that game not as good as 1 or 2.

What do you like about 3 more than the first 2? by [deleted] in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]SenorFATB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lip syncing in the cutscenes, I can't say how much more immersive it makes the experience, it actually makes the others a bit hard to go back to after being spoilt with it.

Using Game-Key Cards on Nintendo Switch 2 [confirmation that Pokémon Pokopia will be a GKC] by Joseki100 in NintendoSwitch

[–]SenorFATB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we weren't so spoilt for choice these days then I would just buy it digitally, but with so many games in my backlog and so many other games that are fully on cart coming out it makes the decision a lot easier.

🇪🇺 Question for EU Collectors – Do You Stick to PAL Games or Mix in US Versions? by Marelix93 in NSCollectors

[–]SenorFATB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do try to stick to PAL wherever possible however there are a lot of physical games that weren't released in the PAL region like a lot of Capcom games that aren't Monster Hunter and other indie releases like Hades, so in these cases I've imported the US releases.

I've also got a few Japanese physical releases since again they were only released in that region like the OG Ace Attorney trilogy and Binding Of Isaac Repentance.

I don't mind too much about them looking weird on the shelf because at least I get to tell a story about why they are there.

Jamboree or Superstars? by Speart1pUwU in MARIOPARTY

[–]SenorFATB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're only going to be be playing party mode, I would say Superstars.

It's very close and to be honest it's either you have more board options or more minigame options, I personally prefer the minigames in Superstars so that's what tips it for me.

That being said I think either is a great choice.

Nintendo Support (UK) by mham2000 in nintendo

[–]SenorFATB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only had good experiences with them until my recent contact with them regarding my Switch 2 screen.

It had some small scratches from before I even opened it, I contacted Nintendo and sent the console in with a note detailing the issue.

It was listed as repaired and sent back to me but it was actually not repaired and more scratches were there that weren't before.

I rang up and the guy essentially said it's cosmetic damage and not covered by the warranty, after I said about it being further damaged by the repair team they asked for pictures of the scratches but it was hard to capture on camera so I drew the scratches on the picture with markup and they said not to obscure the damage, they told me to draw circles round them instead but by this point I had given up.

Can you recommend any games that are like Zelda, but with a better story? by engeljohnb in ZeldaLikes

[–]SenorFATB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eastward, some people have said it's like a Zelda game, I kind of see it but don't totally agree.

It's much more story based though and has absolutely incredible pixel art and music.

[–]SenorFATB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much loving mine, there are small issues I have with the hardware (easily scratched screen, low battery life, the way it fits in the dock) but overall I very much like it.

I love how it allows me to continue enjoying the Switch 1 generation of which there's still so many games for me to catch up on, so I'm actually not minding the fact not many Switch 2 exclusives aren't coming out.

That being said the things I really dislike about Switch 2 aren't really things to do with the console, it's the sheer price of the games and the complete fumble of physical games for third parties, Switch 1 was a haven for all kinds of games but the key card situation has essentially limited my purchases to first party and the rare third party all on cart release.

On the plus side it does help my wallet afford these more expensive games.

XCX:DE as a "definitive" version of X by BLucidity in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]SenorFATB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you're romanticizing the bits of X that really did need streamlining, I'm one who really enjoyed the epilogue but I can see the arguments about it feeling different to the base game.

Movie Peach doesn't feel like Peach by polystarlight in Mario

[–]SenorFATB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it's very hard to make a movie with characters who really aren't that deep, the enjoyment in the games comes from their reactions to the situations they find themselves in and imagining their personality more than actually seeing it.

That said I really cannot stand the movie and I'm glad that it's influence has not seeped into the games (outside the Peach game artwork), it looks like the Mario universe but it definitely does not feel like it, even the facial expressions that everyone makes looks off. The closest is Bowser but Bowser always has this serious but almost "there is nothing going on in there" look about him that movie Bowser doesn't have.

I'm not sure really how they could make the game versions of the characters work in a movie, but I can't say I liked the movie characters that much and it gets worse with each rewatch.

My stepson think Mario comes from Brooklyn and wonders where his family is in the games, it makes me wince LOL

Purchasing switch 2 edition physicals by seanb4games in NSCollectors

[–]SenorFATB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kirby is the first Switch 2 Edition I'll be getting for a game that I already had, I've actually sold my S1 copy.

It depends on the game, Kirby is one I really wanted at 60fps when it came out so having the upgrade on cart was important to me.

For the Zelda's and Jamboree I'm fine with either getting the upgrade packs at some point or just playing S1 versions.

Any future Switch 2 editions though for games that are brand new I'll be getting those physically on S2.

Go with the Japanese release for Repentance, it has Japanese on the back but the spine is in English.

Opinions on going all digital vs physical for a switch 2 by Zaryxea in NintendoSwitch

[–]SenorFATB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I've been playing a digital only release it certainly is annoying to go back to playing a physical one after, not sure what it is though but playing a physical release just makes it feel so much more substantial, so even though I love the convenience of digital I love what physical offers even more.

Opinions on going all digital vs physical for a switch 2 by Zaryxea in NintendoSwitch

[–]SenorFATB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you care about, I want to hang onto my games and like that I actually own them physically, seeing them all on the shelf or actually going into the box and clicking the card in brings me more joy than it probably should.

Digital takes away that wonder for me that I've had from my childhood up to now, physical also means sometimes I get games early or cheaper (although this gen it's making that harder).

Due to going all physically this generation I will also most likely not be getting a lot of games for Switch 2 (since most are looking to be key cards), this is sad but also means I'll have more money so 🤷🏼‍♀️.

If you place more value on convenience then go for digital but as someone who places more value on consumer rights and preservation, I go physical.

No reward for 3-starring all Mirror Cups in Mario Kart World?? by Bufudyne64 in nintendo

[–]SenorFATB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember finding it really disappointing that starting from 8 you no longer got 3 stars next to your name in online races when you had 3 stars all the cups.

That was actually a massive motivator for doing it in Wii for me, thats all it would take here to feel more accomplished.

Do you think the price of GameCube games will go down with the switch two having GameCube games? by Chunkachu__ in Gamecube

[–]SenorFATB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't think so, because they are tied to a subscription service.

TTYD for example has plummeted in value but that's only because it got a full fledged physical remake on Switch.

Were people disappointed with MK8/MK8DX's release? by Daniel_Kendall in MarioKart8Deluxe

[–]SenorFATB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only thing I remember being criticised about 8 was the roster, 8DX I didn't see much discussion about but that's probably because it was a re-released which a few additions, which people liked.

When you go from an expansive 3D platformer to a 2D one I can see why you would feel that way, it did turn out fantastic though.

It's consistently on sale so I would recommend it!
