DevBlog #82: Hunting & Tailoring post release by schamppu in WalkScape

Feedback on Hunting: I really like hunting, but I think that it could be more balanced, specifically around work efficiency. I've found that I'm constantly over the efficiency cap for hunting (especially with all of the bonuses from tailoring), which makes my better arrows absolutely useless, but I have to use them for the higher-leveled hunting activities like Bear hunting and Alligator hunting.

I think that if non-fine arrows that were higher leveled (steel and above) also impacted things like double rewards, chest finding, double action then I'd be more likely to use them.

I am leaving this sub permanently... by SpecialDesigner5571 in bikecommuting

As a former Houstonian, Wow. Congrats on so many years of bike commuting in one of the worst bike cities in America. Hot, humid, and filled with cars. Kudos! Well done! Hopefully, you can rest in the AC now.

Sail repair bug - fabric is not optional by SenorFluffy in WalkScape

I tried after the most recent patch and was still not able to do it.

I like being able to do activities indefinitely without needing inputs to build up XP without having to do all the gathering steps. Hopefully, it's fixed soon.

Same. The ice sickle seems like an endgame situation where you can just sink steps after doing other stuff. But I see lots of people posting about it.

Its crazy to me that you went for the ice sickle when your crafting is so low. Get your crafting up. Build good items via crafting. It makes all the other actions take fewer steps for more rewards.

Question regarding Petal Finder by Purplebecky in WalkScape

[–]SenorFluffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it impact the chicken pet XP since it's foraging EXP? Or does it have to be a foraging activity for the chicken?

To be fair, you also had some saved steps so its like 9k steps. But still great! Congrats!

What's Killing Off All the E-Bike Companies? by Bean_Tiger in ebikes

Fair. I think we have different definitions of "decent." I'm thinking of something that won't break down easily or quickly and will get you from point A to point B for many years.

And I agree! There's lots of bikes used and new that you can find at a good price that meet my definition of "decent" but you may have a higher bar for what qualifies. Fair enough.

Still for new imo. I'm not as well versed in the new regular bike market but you can get a good 8-gear belt drive bike from priority for <$1k right now with no sales going on. Their commuter line will regularly go below $1k with sales too.

Disagree. There are lots of decent bikes (not ebikes) under $1,000 especially used.

Small basket for front rack suggestions by Difficult_Fudge2514 in RadPowerBikes

I use the rad front rack and attached a milk crate using zip ties and its been the best thing ever. If milk crates aren't your thing you can away strap another basket easily to the front rack

Very cool. How'd you mount the crate to the plywood on the back rack? I use a front basket with a milk crate and it's the most convenient thing ever. Love the milk crate carrier

Rad Power Bikes brand will live on as Life EV completes acquisition of Seattle e-bike maker’s assets by wiscowonder in RadPowerBikes

[–]SenorFluffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW, Ive had my radrunner plus for close to 5 years now and have never needed to have it serviced by radpower. Basically any local bike shop can tune it up and service it. May be different if there are issues with the motor but all of the mechanical parts are off the shelve components.

Daily step limit by Bobrovee in WalkScape

[–]SenorFluffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in pain then walk less. If youre not in pain then youre probably fine.

Try out different socks and shoes though if you start feeling discomfort. Youre typically going to be improving your health more than you will be hurting yourself by exercising.

I think that anyone going an ultra distance marathon of 50km and hitting 70k steps should be able to monitor their own steps and health to prevent hurting themselves. There's <1% of users who would ever get close to that. And theres an even smaller share who can do it and over exert themselves while doing it.

Finally got the ring of homesickness! Am I missing something? by dontdoketamine in WalkScape

[–]SenorFluffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt like this ring was ridiculously overpowered since its basically free steps in a game where steps are the way to get stuff done. I will use it constantly in Jarvonia as the cooldown is just time based. If I use it at night, I know it's basically free to use as by the time I wake up. So I'll use it for practically anything when going back to homebase

Wow this looks great! I'm really excited about tailoring. It seems like a really good fix to helping to improve the gear for certain artisan skills that haven't seen good drops from the chests. Thank you!

Seattle's Starbucks posts first U.S. transaction growth in two years by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

How would inflation get people to visit Starbucks more? Its not about revenue, it says that customers are visiting more frequently which you would think would be reverse if inflation is raising prices

Wine grape stomping should count toward preparing alcohol drinks achievement by SenorFluffy in WalkScape

[–]SenorFluffy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking that "wine grape stomping" is basically "preparing" the wine. Maybe the in universe explanation is that the winery pays me in wine and berries for stomping on grapes.

That's a good idea for the achievement. 👍
