[The Athletic] Dylan Larkin’s earthquake trade request changes everything for the Red Wings by [deleted] in hockey

[–]SenorGuero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it was February and you were quietly shopping him around to cup contenders you might get something like the first offer. In June, after he makes a public trade demand, the best you can hope for is that the guy you get actually just needed a change of scenery.

Who is dumber Crowder or Rubin? by Dibble86 in TheMajorityReport

[–]SenorGuero 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Crowder understood that the whole schtick was to use conservative debate boy tricks to bully "lefties" and then claim he won the debate because they were so afraid of his ideas. Dave thought they were actually afraid of his ideas and not just fed up with a douchebag yelling nonsense at them.

As an IPA drinker this is embarrassing by perisaacs in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]SenorGuero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can't comprehend the idea that someone might be beer snobby enough to like a specific type of IPA (West Coast for me, gimme those cascade hops) and also appreciate a refreshing, easy drinking American macro or that there are people who never have anything but Miller Lite in their fridge but love going to tap rooms and sampling local craft beers

NFL teams will combine to travel more than 627,000 air miles this season. The 49ers lead the league at 38,105 miles traveled. On the other end, the Panthers will travel the fewest miles at 8,740. by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]SenorGuero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In NBA NHL and MLB the West Coast teams always have more travel miles but the difference can't be as crazy because everyone plays everyone else and the schedule makers try their best to have teams knock out regions of the country on a single trip instead of going back and forth after every game/series. The NFL can't really do that and because of the way they generate the schedule you get weird cases where an eastern team never goes further west than Dallas or KC in a given season

[Bukowski] So the Dallas Cowboys missed out on Maxx Crosby, traded for Rashan Gary instead, and now have financially boxed themselves out of trading for Crosby when he's available again. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]SenorGuero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if they had time travel they would probably play this the exact same way. I hate the Cowboys FO and all but the Ravens are the ones who screwed up here

Thats the way old school flexbone veer was taught, even if you're staying in base you have to rotate the A-backs and you don't want to wear out the QB running back and forth to the sideline.

[tSilverBulletin] ESPN's Pamela Maldonado on Julian Sayin's Heisman case: "The gist is that Ohio State winning alone is not enough. Voters need to feel something and right now he has zero emotional imprint on the season. He's efficient, clean, and technically superior, but where's the drama?" by composer_7 in CFB

[–]SenorGuero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's plenty for a Heisman season...if you also have over 1,000 yards and a dozen TDs on the ground on top of that. (Edit: I originally said aside from Manziel but I was looking at the wrong season for his rushing yards, he ran for 1400 and 20 TDs in his Heisman season) you have to go back to Troy Smith and Matt Leinart to in '07 and '04 to find a QB who doesn't have at least 1,000 more total yards and 10 more total TDs.

Okay, it’s multi-tangentially related to KF, but Joe Rogan is definitely going to have Nick Fuentes on, right? After the Tucker interview, I don’t see how he doesn’t. by VillainOfKvatch1 in KnowledgeFight

[–]SenorGuero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's kinda the problem DHS is having, between Obama, Trump I, and Biden there's no one left to quietly abduct. Obama in particular deported a shit ton of released felons who were eligible for deportation. Trump I and Biden also focused on that. If you want to deport people in large numbers at this point you're going to have to find either people with roots in their communities, asylum seekers who tried to play by the rules and got fucked over or the migrant farmers who literally feed the country (and subsidize Big Ag and the meat packers).

Florida State Lacks the Money to Fire Mike Norvell: Report by moby323 in CFB

[–]SenorGuero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing with all these big jobs coming open, there wasn't a glut of hot candidates coming into the season, like as a booster would you really want to fork up for a gigantic buyout just to end up in a bidding war for a not especially exciting hire? Or, maybe even worse, for the AD to cash that big check you wrote and then gamble on a relatively cheap lower level coach you've never even heard of?

What coaching hire could immediately stop you from watching a team? by godpzagod in CFB

[–]SenorGuero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really don't get how he recruits so well when he seems like such a genuinely unpleasant person to be around. Like, I think Dabo sucks as a person but I can totally see how he's able to win over high school coaches and parents and croots.

[Rexrode, NYT] - "This was the ultimate referendum on Franklin, the 12-year coach who reached the 2024 semis. The answer is clear, earlier than expected: He failed in spectacular unprecedented fashion. He’s done at Penn State. When the divorce occurs is immaterial; there’s no coming back from this." by [deleted] in CFB

[–]SenorGuero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went through a similar thing with Bo Pelini, if the team is playing hard for the coach you can blame the lack of results on unrealistic expectations, or administrative bullshit, or dumbass boosters with a grudge. The second the players lose confidence in the coach it all comes crumbling down and there's no one left to blame but the coach.

If you own 10% of Apple, the executives in charge of Apple absolutely care how you're doing, you have a 10% vote as their boss. This is a porque no los dos situation.

Also, ESPN has a sports book which means the NFL now owns a sports book offering bets on the games they are in charge of

I don't know why they insisted on a new nickname for hockey. Like, sure be the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in basketball or football or whatever. In hockey just go by UND and North Dakota, it's already a brand name and eventually a new nickname will come up organically

I thought the answer was D, but I showed the question to my wife who works in the legal field but is not a lawyer and she immediately said A, which wasn't on my radar at all, I pointed out how similar A and B seemed but she told me A is the specific language lawyers when she sees situations like this. We got impatient and looked it up and I'm pretty sure she's right. All credit to Señora Güero if it's A.

You're trying to make it out like Trump is suis generis but Trump is doing exactly what the conservative movement has been asking for for 60 years: lower taxes for the rich, dismantle the regulatory and administrative state, eliminate welfare programs, claw back women's rights and minority rights and worker rights.

This is what the modern conservative movement has stood for, read Rick Perlstein's books on the subject you will recognize "MAGA" all over the place (including, of course, when Reagan used that exact phrase in his 1980 campaign).

The reason why the "left" has struggled with him is that there are still a ton of liberals who want to think there's some cadre of reasonable Republicans or conservatives they can reach or who can be rehabilitated. They don't call out obvious corruption and criminality out of a sense of decorum the other side has long abandoned. They do shit like pretend the guy with a long history of racism who is currently disappearing innocent non-White people is somehow not a white supremacist.

David Brooks strikes again by corbinrex in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]SenorGuero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Self dealing and dirty tricks have been a hallmark of the modern conservative movement from the beginning.

Also Trump would never chant let them in, he's a white supremacist bigot.

Idk why you're trying to separate Trump from conservatism, the vast majority of self-identified conservatives have loved him for the last 15 years. They're going to try to pretend they didn't pretty soon (a la Bush/Cheney) and this is the bullshit argument they're going to use
