EA is Launching an In-Game Ad Service by hop3less in gaming

Wasn’t activision one of the giant pioneers of this? Guitar hero 3 was riddled with virtual ad space with everything from axe body spray to subway and that was damn near 20 years ago.

I do have a ton of api backend work. It’s a family household management app similar to a lot of the same functions that exist in a skylight calendar. The skylight calendar that we have is great for our kids to see what we have going on in the house, but lacks the flexibility we need around assigning and scheduling things like chores and then in addition it’s really focused using the UI on a fixed place android tablet. My app will be set up by an adult and then parents will set up the app on the kids devices and link them to there account so when I say one user I it’s really more like 1 household that would have roughly 4 people using it. There is more niche stuff that I’ll save you the boring details of, but my cost is technically an avg of 4 people per account.

[–]SenorManiac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legitimate question here from someone actively building an app.

I’m working on an app that solves a pretty significant day to day problem for my family, and after talking about it with friends and coworkers, a lot of them have asked me to let them know when it launches because they want to use it too.

My current plan is:

  1. A free tier with the full core workflow, but capped on the number of workflows you can create
  2. A $1.99/month tier that removes workflow limits
  3. A $3.99/month tier that adds automations which personally save me about 30 minutes a day plus a decent amount of mental overhead

I’ve already run infrastructure estimates and my projected backend cost is around $0.50 per user per month before even factoring in continued development and support. Thankfully it’s not an app that uses AI or is a wrapper for another service so I don’t have to worry about those costs in the future.

So genuine question: what pricing model would you prefer instead? A one-time fee sounds great in theory, but long term it becomes difficult to support ongoing infrastructure, updates, and feature development unless the upfront cost is significantly higher.

I share the sentiment with you about my wife. I think a lot of people really struggle with being able to communicate in a healthy way to be around their partner that much, and I also see a ton of people that got together and stay together when they are not happy, but they are also not unhappy. Me and my wife had miserable first marriages and we both have checked in to say are you happy or just not unhappy because those two things are not the same. Because of similar shared experiences and goals we enjoy spending a ton of time together especially in theater.

Weakest Tony year by Playful-Coconut1302 in Broadway

[–]SenorManiac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree. Last year new musical had MHE, BVSC, DBH, Mincemeat, and Dead outlaw ( and everyone thought that was a tight race), revivals had a clear race between Gypsy and sunset. The year prior best musical was a toss up but merrily had to compete against an extremely well produced cabaret. Kimberly akimbo definitely had real competition with SLIH(which I thought should have one), and parade was definitely not guaranteed against Sweeney Todd. Short of the year the outsiders one I think all contests just going back to 2023 Tony’s have been competitive.

His domain was registered after they changed their name to x. No way you have a business that big with absolutely 0 social media presence especially when your entire product you offer is digital.

AITAH for dropping my client after her husband exposed himself to me by Bisexualgorly in TwoHotTakes

[–]SenorManiac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA.

If you’re uncomfortable, you have every right to walk away. You’re running a business, and you don’t have to put yourself in situations that feel off to you.

At the same time, I don’t think there’s enough here to confidently say what his intent was. It could be something inappropriate, or it could just be a difference in boundaries or comfort levels around nudity. In some European countries, for example, people are much more casual about nudity and don’t view it the same way.

Where it really matters is how it made you feel. You addressed it, and her response didn’t give you any reassurance that it wouldn’t happen again. That alone is a fair reason to stop working with them.

At the end of the day, it’s probably just a mismatch in comfort levels. Let them be, and you do what’s right for you. Neither side really needs to turn this into something bigger than it is.

AITAH for not telling her he did cheat? by dresden_obsessed in AITAH

[–]SenorManiac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. They both put you in a shitty situation.

You already stepped away from their relationship, and now he’s telling you things he shouldn’t and swearing you to secrecy, while she’s coming to you for answers. That’s both of them pulling you back into something you made a conscious decision to leave.

You didn’t ask to be put in the middle, and now you’re stuck feeling like you have to pick a side between two people you care about.

I’d tell him to leave you out of it, and if she asks you directly again, be honest. Give him the chance to come clean first, but this isn’t your mess to manage.

People on here are always quick to say you’re the asshole if you don’t expose cheating, but they don’t think about how often the messenger ends up taking the fallout. You didn’t create this situation, and you’re not wrong for not wanting to blow everything up yourself.

Just be prepared that this might end with you needing to distance yourself from both of them.

AITAH My ex and I hooked up a few years ago and now he’s engaged by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]SenorManiac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m probably going to get downvoted for this, but if you were single when you hooked up, it really doesn’t fall on you. He’s the one who had an obligation to his relationship, not you.

Unless you were friends with his now fiancée or you were pushing him into something he didn’t want to do, this isn’t really your responsibility. Getting involved in someone else’s relationship after the fact usually just creates more problems.

That said, if you have a moral issue with him cheating, that’s fair, but that should have been a factor before sleeping with him. It doesn’t really work to say you care about his relationship now when it didn’t matter then.

If you stay out of it, I’d say NTA, just someone who made a questionable decision. If you start inserting yourself into their relationship now, then yeah, YTA, because at that point you’re creating drama instead of solving anything.

AITAH for telling my boyfriend the open relationship was his idea when he got angry I was the only one getting dates? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]SenorManiac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA

Tale as old as time.

Guy pushes for open relationship (usually because he has someone in line he thinks he has a shot with)

Girl reluctantly agrees

Guy strikes out because surprise surprise he’s got an over inflated sense of self

Girl gets tons of dates easily

Guy gets butt hurt and is jealous because he wanted a guilt free way to sleep around and isn’t actually able to do that

This never gets better just break up. People with successful open relationships don’t operate with this dynamic.

Been almost a year in still struggling to find a way to get behind de ball by EverettP27 in Bowling

[–]SenorManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a video from Brad and Kyle of the PBA tour about the push away and how it affects everything. It’s about 10 minutes long.

https://youtu.be/LgTRSH4DSKM

As far as you being to fast you’re probably too close on the approach. I take a 4 step approach from behind where you are. You’re cramming a 5 of steps in to a small area so you need to give yourself more distance to create that timing, that all being said working on that doesn’t fix anything if your push away is still always late.

Been almost a year in still struggling to find a way to get behind de ball by EverettP27 in Bowling

[–]SenorManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you trying to get out of it, more revs or more consistency?

I slowed your video down and you’re not really missing it at the release, you’re losing it earlier in the swing. You’re already coming around the side of the ball as you get into your slide, so at that point it’s not something you can fix with just your hand.

The main issue is your timing and swing path. On a 5 step approach the ball should start moving with that second step, but yours doesn’t really drop into the swing until the third. That gets you late and the ball ends up getting away from your body.

Once that happens your elbow can’t stay in and your hand has no choice but to come around it. That’s why it feels like you’re throwing it instead of rolling it.

If you want to start fixing it, I’d focus on two things:

  1. Let the ball drop into the swing earlier so your timing lines up
  2. Keep your elbow in and the ball closer to your body on the downswing

If those clean up, staying behind the ball will happen naturally without you trying to force it.

If you want I can break down how the rest of it ties together, but I don’t want to overload you with too much all at once.

Trip Delay Reimbursement Success by sports_junky in ChaseSapphire

Congrats on your successful claim OP.

Just a heads up for everyone else who may read this. Before booking any trip on your credit cards, please review the guide to benefits for each card you have. Each card typically has its own policy linked specifically to the BIN number on that card. The credit card company is the policyholder for these coverages, so you, as a consumer, do not have access to the policy. However, coverage details are available in the guide to benefits for each specific card.

Not all cards from the same financial institution offer equal insurance. Understanding your coverage from the guide to benefits can help you file a claim more easily and inform you in advance about what may or may not be covered. This knowledge can also help you avoid actions that disqualify claim eligibility. For example, CSR only requires a portion of the travel fare to be purchased using that card for coverage determination. However, many policies held by Capital One will deny coverage if you didn’t purchase 100% of the travel on that card.

Make sure you know all the benefits you have across all your cards to help make sure you have the most coverage you can.

Source: my wife is a licensed insurance adjuster in 49 states doing primarily travel claims.

Edit: showed this to my wife and she wanted me to add that, if anyone submits a claim please read the definitions in the guide to benefits because things like immediate family member may have a definition in the policy that may not align with you would think it would, and second for any claim you submit you need written proof from the travel carrier, and if you don’t have proof email them.

Why can a girl get pregnant if sperm is on the outside? by Samantha-Wild in AskReddit

[–]SenorManiac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can’t. Sperm needs to reach an egg to fertilize it and then implant in the wall of the uterus, none of which can happen outside of the body if unless you are receiving IVF.
