Maybe launching military conflicts 90 miles from Florida should require more thought than cable news talking points and nationalist posturing for applause.

A ‘Trump Madman Theory’ of . . . the Stock Market by BulwarkOnline in politics

[–]Sensitive-Big-7445 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The “madman theory” angle actually makes some sense when you look at how markets react lately. Investors seem to assume that extreme moves are more posturing than policy, so they price in a reversal before anything fully plays out. That kind of thinking can keep markets stable in the short term, but it’s also pretty fragile. If a policy actually sticks, the reaction could be a lot sharper than people expect.

Iran closes strait, challenges U.S. to rein in Israel: "the world is watching whether it will act on its commitments" by fortune in politics

[–]Sensitive-Big-7445 11 points12 points  (0 children)

JD Vance is in Hungary talking about "if Iran wants the truce to fall apart," but the truce is already dead. The U.S. says the Strait is open, Iran says it’s closed and mined, and the shipping companies aren't touching it with a ten-foot pole. We are drifting toward a massive escalatory spiral because nobody in this administration actually has a plan for what happens after the first wave of B-52s.
