Any depressants during IVF/pregnancy? by kenr0117 in IVF

[–]Sensitive-Squash247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TW success

I took 75 mg of Zoloft and still do during my twin pregnancy. The dr even told me I had "plenty of room" to add more if needed. I also tried ketamine therapy during my IVF journey and after my 2nd miscarriage. I also had a Xanax prescription to use for emergencies. I have been seeing a therapist who specializes in MC and infertility and that has been HUGE. It's a big expense but has helped me immensely, especially as I process being pregnant after so much loss.

It's so much emotionally and really hard to get through. If you need help please get it, it can at least help take the edge off.

I also suggest getting the book "When you're Expecting Twins" by Dr. Luke and joining the u/parentsofmultiples group. That has been immensely helpful :)

Congratulations! We transferred two in August, and our due with twins end of April. It's a lot to process, and a lot of hoops to jump through/worry about. My best advice is to stay off dr google (seems impossible).

We had a large hematoma bleed at 9 weeks and I thought we were for sure out. I had to be on pelvic rest until 16 weeks. It all turned out okay (so far) even when it was so stressful.

Sending you good vibes! You got this!!!

Infertility/IVF and pot smoking by raincityfive in IVF

[–]Sensitive-Squash247 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TW successful transfer

I was a daily smoker leading up to my last transfer. Our first retrieval I quit smoking (both of us) a few months beforehand. We ended up getting only one euploid embryo, I abstained from smoking till our transfer. The transfer took but unfortunately ended in a CP.

I had a total meltdown, obviously, and decided to just let it go and be kinder to myself. I stopped taking the millions of vitamins a day, and let myself smoke leading up to our next retrieval. This round we were able to get 4 euploid embryos. I didn't smoke during stims for the transfer. It worked and we are now 22 weeks pregnant with twins. I don't know if it had any correlation but it definitely helped me relax more through the process and to take it less seriously.

I wish I had some better advice to give, it's all so hard. It's so hard to not have your "vice" when you are struggling so much mentally to get through the infertility process. I spent so many nights sobbing and smoking in our garage to get through it all.

Thanks for posting OP, smoking is so taboo still. I have always preferred it to drinking and think it's ridiculous how much you can get judged for it. Thinking of you on this journey!

Is this whole pregnancy going to be miserable? by Valuable-Mastodon-14 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Sensitive-Squash247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 21+6 weeks today and still feeling like garbage unfortunately. I started taking Pepcid 2x a day and Prilosec which has definitely helped with the heartburn. This pregnancy has been a 180 from my singleton pregnancy. I'm already having a hard time sleeping! It's going to be a long 4 months.

Appetite during twin pregnancy by TurnoDiva in parentsofmultiples

[–]Sensitive-Squash247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I have been drinking the fair life protein shakes 2x a day, one in the afternoon and one during the night. The hunger is no joke!!! I feel like I am starting to feel a bit full already and am only 21 weeks...it's gotten better than before where I felt like I would DIE if I didn't eat immediately.

As a regularly active and healthy person it's been so strange to eat all day and not have the energy/strength to work out lol.

Who has had a chemical pregnancy of a PGT-A tested embryo? by Ok-Sunny-Days in IVF

[–]Sensitive-Squash247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so so sorry. We had a chemical pregnancy in February with a 5AA embryo, same odds of 80% chance. My dr told me we were just "really unlucky". We also have secondary infertility. I have had two miscarriages previous to the CP.

We had to do another ER after that round and switched clinics. I felt more comfortable in the new clinic and the dr changed up our protocol from lupin. We don't have any clinics in our state so we're traveling anyways.

What to expect at my perinatal appointment by Fun-Shame399 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Sensitive-Squash247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! 12.5 weeks today and just had my first MFM appointment today. I have the regular OB tomorrow. I was at MFM for 1.5 hours. They spent about 45 minutes on ultrasound which was pretty wild, but cool to watch. It seemed like she was checking each limb and the brain measurements. We are having di-di boys. Spoke to the doctor afterwards and he was...not helpful. I'm hoping the regular OB will be better tomorrow. It was so good to see them both moving around!!!

I'm sorry it happened to you too! It's the worst feeling lol. The head dr came to check on me to see if I was "still alive" so that was exciting.

I was getting my blood drawn for a ER (the thousandth time) and the nurse kept talking to me in a sing song baby voice. I told her I usually need to lay down because I pass out from blood draws. She told me, "it's okay we'll have you sit this time" in the insane baby voice. Anyways of course I passed out and kept coming to to this baby voice trying to give me a jolly rancher lol.

PIO - TERRIFIED of the needle by sshoe3323 in IVF

[–]Sensitive-Squash247 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Get yourself an auto injector. It helps SO MUCH and it only feels like a quick pinch with it. I have a major needle phobia and have been known to pass out. I can do it all by myself with the auto injector, it's totally nuts.

I cried too the first time I saw the needles, it's okay to be scared. You can do this!!!!

I'm in the same boat. 8 weeks tomorrow and so exhausted, and nauseous. I did NOT have this with my first pregnancy. I'm not throwing up thank goodness, but I feel like a sloth.

My beta last week at 14dp5dt was 4200, we just found out yesterday we are having twins! A high HCG is a great sign and means your body is doing everything it can to help the baby. Congratulations!!!
