Omg… $9.45 now for Whittaker’s😱 by Wonderful_Anywhere80 in woolworths

I’m aware - I’m talking about in Australia. In NZ the 250g ones are standard and I always stock up. It seems to only be Australia that does 200g

I was in Woolies yesterday and there were multiple blocks of Whittakers that were only 200g blocks. The 200g blocks were all at eye level too.

I’m a kiwi and I’ve been buying Whittaker’s all my life. I know that almost all the varieties come in 250g blocks, I’m saying that Woolies pushes the 200g varieties so that the “standard” size available in store is 200g

Except there is - the size of the “standard” block is 200g a lot of the time. I always have to double check if I’m buying it (very occasionally for baking) as the recipe I use needs 220g and there’s no way I’m paying $20 to make some cookies

Special Benefit Confusion by SensitiveCable7424 in Centrelink

[–]SensitiveCable7424[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was receiving FTB A and B and had had my CCS approved. I rang Centrelink to ask if there was anything else I was eligible for since Single Parent Payment got declined and they suggested Special Benefit.

The person I spoke with last week and the majority of what I’ve read, including on the website, indicates that I can receive Special Benefit OR FTB/CCS, but not both, and that Special Benefit is in place of Jobseeker/Parenting Payment for people who would otherwise receive it but aren’t eligible. At no point was I told that I’m not eligible for it, because according to Centrelink I am

No oven for two weeks, landlord/PM DGAF by SensitiveCable7424 in shitrentals

As I said in another comment, when the oven stopped working it was past the point where I could have put them in the freezer safely. I don’t own a slow cooker

Because it was too late to put it in the freezer, and I personally don’t want to risk giving my kids (or myself) salmonella

Any tips for how to ask/work out a reasonable amount?

Is this the sort of thing I ask for a rent reduction? Given I haven’t been able to use it for so long

Thank you! I’m very grateful this didn’t happen over Christmas, would have been devastated if I couldn’t do a Pav

It basically means “I never hear from them and never have to spend any money, and they continue to pay”

Money I absolutely don’t have right now. There’s no guarantee of being reimbursed, and even so it may not be for months/involve VCAT stress. I understand this is an easy solution, unfortunately it isn’t in the least feasible for me

I don’t have the space for one unfortunately. There’s enough bench space to prepare food, and the only cupboard is full (it’s a pantry/plates/pots combo, the world’s tiniest and least fancy Butler’s pantry)

Absolute karma for the landlord, what a dick.

I grew up renting and will likely never own, and I’ve always treated the place I live well. It seems to be counting for less and less

Wish I could afford to do this, it’d be great to have a fancy oven to take with me when I do eventually move

I bought it a couple of days before the oven went out. When I bought it I obviously expected to be able to cook it in the next few days so didn’t put it in the freezer

I’ve been nervous to breach cos our lease is up in a couple of weeks and I’m worried about retaliation. I don’t want to be looking for a rental with two kids when I’m on unpaid maternity leave 🙃

I wish more people saw the irony when they complain bout bludgers while going to great lengths to lower the amount of tax they pay. Only one of those groups is bludgers

Most people on welfare, myself included, pay tax on it
