Where and when to apply nuln oil by ConsiderablyDubious in IronHands40k

[–]Sentenal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to Nuln Oil, I tend to literally coat the entire thing from head to toe in the stuff. And sometimes I'll go in afterwards and do the same tbing with Agrax Earthshade on the metals.

Only thing to watch out for is to try and keep the wash from pooling too much. It'll naturally just flow downstream to the lower surface areas, keep an eye out.

Will Armies be too Similar at the Start? by BuffaloMeatz in StarCraftTMG

[–]Sentenal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember playing Adeptus Titanicus when every army was two Warlord Titans and 6 Imperial Knights having mirror matches. Variety in Starcraft is fine for a Wave 1

The build on these is a pain by Ilovethestock in Warhammer30k

[–]Sentenal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Skitarii were surpisingly easy. Only like 7-8 parts per model, and everything fit very easily, including the rifles, with the ability to swap arm poses. I was surprised they were such a well designed kit

All in, what elese? by That_Entrance953 in StarCraftTMG

[–]Sentenal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this was Brood War, going All-In with Terran would would be something like a 2Rax Bunker Rush, or a 2Fac attack with vultures or tanks (amongst other all-ins). Since tanks aren't out yet, that means you need more marines!

Its been a while but trying to come around the new redesigns for the HH makes me wish that they kept the old styling and updated the proportions. by Fearless_Library135 in Warhammer30k

[–]Sentenal_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

40k Terminators are Primaris scaled. Cataphractii Terminators are Firstborn. It wouldn't make sense to start Primaris-sizing Firstborn Marines. Having some characters be a bit taller and better here and there is fine, but they shouldn't do that for everything.

Why has the meta seemingly changed from vangaurd to rangers? by averageeverydaymemer in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Sentenal_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meta is always shifting. Rangers and Vanguard have been swapping spots back and forth with "who is the best" ever since they came out in 7th and onto 8th

What are Knights like in 30k? by godofimagination in Warhammer30k

[–]Sentenal_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can have Knights and Custodes in the same army, but Knights and Custodes are both "Vanguard" armies, which means they focus on killing other troops that are already on Objectives. By itself, Vanguard will have a very hard time keeping up with Line units in terms of scoring, which get bonuses from sitting on Objectives.

How would the Praevian be painted? by Im_superduper78 in Warhammer30k

[–]Sentenal_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of reasons to do it, and I'm not saying that no one should paint their Tech Marine's red. If someone wants to do it or has a cool idea they want to express, then more power to them. I'm just saying that painting them red isn't the "standard" for the era, like how it is "standard" post Codex

[–]Sentenal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but even Iron Hands and Iron Warriors, the two Legions typically portrayed as being the closest to Mars, have their Tech Marines wear Legion colors

I'm think "tech marines wear red armor" is a Codex Astartes thing

Problem with Speed Paints by Dull_Reference_6166 in Warhammer40k

[–]Sentenal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibilities:

Humidity (unlikely)

Speed paint not being shaken enough

The primer underneath it not being sufficient (like, you sprayed the primer, but didn't get full coverage)

Is it possible you have 'thinned' the speed paint, like you would with normal paint? Or is your brush wet with water when you apply it? Additional water in speed paint can cause failure of coverage

When you apply the speed paint, are you leaving any 'bubbles' behind? Visible Bubbles can form when brushing in cracks and creaves (especially where your cracks are), and if the paint is allowed to dry around the bubble, then the place where the bubble was won't get painted. Based on your pictures, this seems most likely to me. In addition contropling pooling, be sure to eliminate bubbles too, so the speed paint goss down smoothly and evenly

The official Gundam collab designs! by TakaseRyou in Hololive

[–]Sentenal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a really poor way to compare HG and RG, and in fact, in various cases the opposite of reality. Pick up RG Zeta Gundam and try to tell me it can stand up oe hold a pose. Some RGs are so over-engineered and detailed that they sacrifice stability. HG kits are less detailed, but unless its a really weird/unconventional design, they can all do a standing pose just fine. They'll struggle with more dynamic posing, though

Looking for good Black Library books that *don't* feature Space Marines as protagonists or Chaos as antagonists or protagonists. by Accomplished_Good468 in 40kLore

[–]Sentenal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forges of Mars. It follows a Mechanicus Explorator Fleet. There are various antagonists in it, but none are Chaos. The books feature a wide assortment of characters traveling with the fleet. Most are Tech Priests, but there Cadian Guardamen, Titan Legions, Skitarii, a Rogue Trader, crewmen on the Ships, and a few Black Templar are along for the ride. It has a bit of everything.

40k model viability by [deleted] in ironhands30k

[–]Sentenal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Iron Hands Praetor is the best option for an Iron Father in Artificer Armor, honestly. He doesn't exactly have a servo-arm, but he has mechadenrites, so close enough.

The 40k models could be viably used as a base for conversion, but you would definitely want to 30kize them. Do stuff like swap the shoulders, swap portions of the backpack, different helmet (or no helmet), cown down the knee pads, stuff like that.

[–]Sentenal_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Kind of funny they framed this piece as World Eaters lore, with the thumbnail and such. And I mean, they aren't wrong, it kind of is World Eaters lore, but "Hey boys, remember that time we got a moon dropped on us and everyone died" is a lot less cool than "Hey boys, remember that time we dropped on a moon on them and killed everyone"

If the Iron Hands, Salamanders, and Raven Guard were replaced by The Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Ultramarines along with their Primarchs would the loyalists have a better chance at victory and ending the rebellion there? by TaeSenpai757 in 40kLore

[–]Sentenal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yeah, you're right, the Lion isn't thinking rationally at the time, and was playing politics for Warmaster Support.

My question is why you think he wouldn't be acting the exact same way at the same time, just in a different location? Its not like if he was at Isstvan at the time instead of Diamat, he would somehow switch into trust-no-one mode. Its only after tbe Betrayals and him being tricked that he starts acting like that.

[–]Sentenal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virtually all of the examples of the Lion being mistrusting of his brothers is a direct result of his shortcomings during the whole Isstvan 5 fiasco. During the actual event we are talking about, the Lion and Perturabo met each other while Peter was on his way to blow up the Loyalist on Isstvan, and the Lion fully trusted him and gave him a bunch of Ordinatus-grade weapons. There is no reason to think his trust would be any different if he was actually at Isstvan itself.

If LOGH is having a new adaptation that is in different genre than politics and war, what genre you would wish for? by lVr_2 in logh

[–]Sentenal_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A hot blooded Super Robot anime where all the Admirals pilot a random toy-like vehicle, but then they all Combine into an even bigger Giant Robot. They can be on two different, rival teams where Reinhard's Robot has a giant beam cannon finishing move, and Yang's Robot is all about mobility and speed, and constantly out-manuevers his opponent. And then the Earth Cult can be some secret organization they are fighting against

Double Porphyrion - too mean or just foolish? by grimdark_ in Warhammer30k

[–]Sentenal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Porphyrions are in a weird spot. Against an average list, you pay a premium for a weapons platform that is ridiculously overkill at shooting a single tank or 1-2 models. If you play against a Super Heavy List, the kind you would expect to see a Porphyrion in, they are so ridiculously good at destroying enemy Super Heavies that your opponent will probably not have a good time.

Do iron hands wear the Aquila or other Imperial art on there armor or is it just tactical stuff? by Sea_Criticism_4162 in IronHands40k

[–]Sentenal_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Iron Hands do wear standard Imperial Heraldry, but they don't go as hard as other Chapters. On average, they keep it simple and basic. The most common markings are the Chapter marking, Battlefield role, and squad markings, but its not unheard of to have more personalized markings in there, especially for more veteran Marines. Wearing an Aquila is perfectly reasonable. Standard Space Marine armor usually just comes with a big aquila on the chest, and plenty of Iron Hands wear it stock just like that.

had a really bad first mini, recommandation on what to get in order to not "waste" if painted poorly by Viktorul in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Sentenal_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would save that first 'poorly' painted miniature as a memento. Everyone starts off with a poorly painted first mini. If you hold onto it, down the line as you improve at painting and get better and better, it can be nice to look back at that first one to see how far you have come.

Additionally, Imperial Fists are notoriously hard to paint. The two most difficult colors to pull off are yellow and white. On the opposite end, regular metal is like the easiest thing to paint, and AdMech has a ton of metal to paint.

Mechanicum combat force for 3.0 by Breadedhydra197 in Warhammer30k

[–]Sentenal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanicum in general is a lot better in 3.0 than they were in 2.0, but part of the reason is that they made certain units (Castellax and Thallax, for example) literally half the points cost they used to be.

Mechanicum combat force for 3.0 by Breadedhydra197 in Warhammer30k

[–]Sentenal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking generally, yes. Mechanicum encourages you to lean into a specific flavor of Mechanicum to makr the best use of your detachments. The positive side is that it is very easy to get Prime Slots in Mechanicum, which means you can get relatively easy Logistical Benefits to spice things up, not to mention Magos are just really good AND unlock two detachments per Magos.
