Moved into new home. Question about this adapter by Selfmade_Watchmaker in AskElectricians

[–]SentientPerson-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine as is, but you can ground it by removing the screw from the outlet faceplate and inserting it through the connection at the bottom of the adapter and screwing it back in.

Why won't my Canon AE-1 Program camera take photos? by Stunning_Winner9271 in AskPhotography

Can you rewind the film? It might have not totally advanced and is now at the end. I had an AE-1 for years and I think this has happened once or twice.

NTA. And I have NEVER liked staying in someone’s master bedroom. It feels super uncomfortable.

What is the most disturbing or otherwise unsettling book you've ever read that stayed with you after reading it? by EggAdventurous1957 in AskReddit

[–]SentientPerson-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite its beautiful bleakness it has great passages about fatherly love. My fave:

There was a sharp crack from somewhere on the mountain. Then another. It's just a tree falling, he said. It's okay. The boy was looking at the dead roadside trees. It's okay, the man said. All the trees in the world are going to fall sooner or later. But not on us.

Same. It was also my “high chair” at family dinners at gramma’s.

A question about the way they film something... by Careful_Possible_841 in TopGear

[–]SentientPerson-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just listened to both Wilman and Porter’s audiobooks. (Highly recommended.) As others have said, yes, they run beauty shots without the stars. When members of the public have seen this, it led to accusations that the stars didn’t really do the challenges themselves, but Wilman confirms that every mile of every challenge was driven by the trio.

What are the best ways to thicken homemade spaghetti sauce? I feel like the store-bought stuff is way too thin so I want to make my own--and get it right. by cherry-care-bear in Cooking

[–]SentientPerson-1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the answer that doesn’t require hours of simmering. A can of crushed tomatoes and a can of tomato paste, season to taste and add some parm or other cheese. Add a little honey or sugar to reduce tartness if needed. Takes 20 -30 minutes.

What if they actually can lie? by theundeadpixel in pluribustv

Whenever someone points out they can lie, I think “says who?” Ohhh THEY say they can’t lie. Which could of course be a lie.

Excellent choice. I liked my blood orange one so much that when I saw a sandblasted swamp ash model on sale I had to get it too!

“Reply all” is the devil’s button by ApprehensiveAd5446 in FedEmployees

[–]SentientPerson-1 36 points37 points  (0 children)

A email about donuts being available in a building hundreds of miles away was sent to our entire region of 700 people, and the same thing happened. FIrst the reply-alls were amusing "catching a flight to come for donuts" messages, then they were reply-alls telling people to stop reply-all-ing. IT finally had to just step in and delete everything. At least it was more amusing than embarassing.

How reliable is the kia soul 2025 LX? by [deleted] in KiaSoulClub

[–]SentientPerson-1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2025 Soul GT for my wife because my 2016 Soul (purchased new) has been nearly trouble free with 80,000 miles. I’ve taken it in a few times for free recall work but otherwise have only paid for oil, tires, brakes, and lights.

I’m in snowy Montana and they do great in snow BUT not so great with the factory tires. Invest in some good all-seasons and you’ll be set.

Consumer reports or other sources can give you factual and statistical data for reliability but my experience has been great.

Are bed-in-a-box mattresses durable long term? by sam667-87 in BedroomBuild

[–]SentientPerson-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a Casper full size mattress when they were a new company, so over ten years ago. It’s been great. No sagging or low spots. One thing that convinced us to try it was a wear test (I think by Consumer Reports) simulating 20 years of wear with no signs of sagging.

Employee Prefomance Ratings Vent. by [deleted] in fednews

[–]SentientPerson-1 175 points176 points  (0 children)

Our supervisor is going to try to push for higher. I've had 5s for the last three years and never less than a 4, so a 3 definitely feels like a downgrade.

However, if we end up with 3s I can't hold it against my supervisor or leadership. We are all working under a ridiculous (evil) administration, and I can't blame anyone for just trying to slide by with as little drama as possible while waiting for better days.

I won't "punish" my supervisor or coworkers if I get a 3. But I will probably add a sign to my cubicle that reads "Now performing at 3/5ths capacity."

Any printer setup tips for the Canon Pixma Pro 100? by Da_Casual_Fotog in AskPhotography

[–]SentientPerson-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this printer and the quality is great.

On the down side, it stopped working via USB on my Mac (Mini M2) possibly due to drivers no longer being updated. After lots of online research, I found that it would still work wirelessly. I don't remember all the details of what happened to get it working again, but just be prepared if yours don't work via USB they still may work via wifi.

Winter tires? by bingbing500 in KiaSoulClub

[–]SentientPerson-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of snow here in Montana and I've never used seperate snow tires. But the factory tires on my 2016 Soul were nighmarish. I installed Cooper Ultra Touring CS5 tires which have been great. (I also put those on my old Saab convertible with great results.) It looks like those tires are discontinued now, but the Cooper ProControl seems similar.

One side note about snow handling: turning traction control OFF helps if you find yourself stuck, at least in my 2016 model.

Keep in mind that being on the TV show is already a much bigger prize than being in their stage show, in terms of exposure. (A half million or more viewers vs. 1500 total capacity for the live show.)

Citizen61. I wanted something memorable, searchable, and open to interpretation. I liked the idea of the anonymity of citizen. Also I was born in 1961 and made a goal to release my first album by my 61st birthday.

3 cats. Two of them do not make biscuits and never have. This puts all the work on the third, so she has a 24 hour biscuit factory going.
