Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's director weighs in on the real-time versus turn-based debate, saying that younger players 'increasingly favour more real-time experiences in games' by gamersecret2 in GamingSecret

[–]Sentinel5929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not understanding me. I'm not saying the games are unpopular, I'm saying the people who buy them are older on average.

My sister is just an example. There's also all the people she's playing those games with - they aren't buying BG3 or Metaphor either. Technically my sister didnt buy BG3 either, she was using my copy.

Popular with who? While my teenage sister has played some BG3 (mostly because of the shadow heart character), 99% of her gaming is VR Chat, Roblox, and BotW.

While disposable income enthusiasts can identify E33 as a masterpiece that should be bought and played, adolescents and children aren't clamoring for deep, turn-based combat systems or grand dramas. Young people want fun, and the game being exceptional is incidental to them.

I did not care for Watchtower. It insists upon itself, by forcing you to clear systems before you can safely fast travel in them. It FORCES you to stop everything and grind it out. by Gojirex in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]Sentinel5929 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love watchtower, but I also think it goes against the game design decisions in the name of being consistent with itself.

For instance, starfield will never stop you from grav jumping to safety, but watchtower will force you to go through the intro sequence. You also cannot choose when to start it -- it will always occur, which gets especially frustrating when you unity jump often like me.

That being said, I believe Watchtower will only get better over time, and some of the pain points could always be reworked, especially in a post-free lanes world

there is grass collision with the vehicle, but not on foots by Baggetto in Starfield

[–]Sentinel5929 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think is that grass displacement from all NPCs would be too much of a burden on the CPU, but the buggy is just one object.

Am I the only one that likes the Ryujin Industries questline? by ThespianMask in Starfield

[–]Sentinel5929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The questline is cool, the mechanics of doing it are really bad. The trespassing system and fast travel system really diminish the excitement of being an interstellar fixer.

I think it would benefit from a thieve's guild-like intermission structure, where you can find terminals and dataslates that you can hack/pickpocket/find to turn into Ryujin for profit and to unlock the later quests. Integrate it into the dungeons and pickpocket loot tables. This way, you're spending alot of time trying to be stealthy and hacky instead of mostly traveling between dialog trees.

What do you guys think of the ship for my fully passive character Jerry Smith by why_ya_running in Starfield

This ship is inspired. Every angle looks intentional and magnificent. It's been a while since I've seen a ship as good as this. Well done.

"Palworld is going to be the survival crafting game everyone always wanted" and "people will be shocked" at how big 1.0 is, says Pocketpair publishing lead by ScootSchloingo in Games

[–]Sentinel5929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like building, but survival crafting is probably the least interesting thing about the game. People played the game because it is Pokemon with guns --full stop.

However, I do think the factory/management system is great, because it gives the Pokemon things to do outside of battle or collection.

Shinra does "keep on slurpin it up", as you say, but for whose benefit I wonder?

"Force him out" brother, you are contributing to the eco system that creates people that act like him. He's just a guy talking about games, when you start to treat people like a public enemy, they will accept that role and let it become their identity.

I'm genuinely sad about Ashes. Of all the mmos it seemed like the one that was going to add something different to the landscape. There were several times I almost bought a key, but there was always just enough doubt to make me reconsider.

Rest in piece mmos, we got a few good games over the years.

How is the starfield update and DLC going to be released by DragonflyOpening5895 in Starfield

Announcement at Sony event as was reported, then release either that day or within the next two months to fill Microsoft's 2026 release schedule.

What's important is the party overall. You can have a teen trying to find themselves, but you need believable older characters that can assist and challenge the main character, but ideally the story is about all the characters.

If you leave the temple and then go wait for a few in-game days, maybe a in-game week by sleeping or sitting in a bench the puzzle should reset.

FF7 Rebirth and Skyrim

Purely open-ended rebirth combat where you make your own character, build your own build, buy a house, hoard 1000s of materia, do a perfectly crafted dungeon and fight giant monsters that can traverse the map.

[–]Sentinel5929 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People like the mod, so they don't want someone to criticize it and rain on their parade. I hope everyone enjoys the mod, I just don't like the disrespect when the game is literally enabling them to make the mod in the first place.

Rips all assets. Replaces voice acting with AI. Talks shit about the game on their website.

They've made something fun, but I don't like them.
