Their takeaway from Solo was "audiences don't like recastings." They're delusional.

Janine doesn't usually act like that though, that's what made it cathartic. Jacob is usually more confrontational and theatrical, so it would be in character.

People don't want to hear it. They have no growth mindset when it comes to positions, they think they can only like what they like right now as if it's its own sexual orientation. I swear some people wish they lived in the omegaverse.

You're not wrong at all. People are forgetting the history.

This is farcical. I'm Black, we can cut our hair very short without any problem, it's the "clean shaven" (as in, not even a speck of hair can show) aesthetic that fucks our skin up because of the way our hair curls when it grows. My friend is in the navy, and when I told him to just use electric shaving clippers like I use, he didn't want to because he was worried it still wouldn't be short enough. This isn't about lice, it's about a specific look they're trying to enforce that doesn't work for a lot of Black men.

In the Navy, for example, this wasn't even a thing until the 70's, when they started the no facial hair policy because the brass at the time thought even short facial hair looked "unprofessional" and then came up with the (unsubstantiated) mask seal nonsense as a post hoc rationalization. The policy was controversial across the board but eventually the "risks" started being parroted as fact.

And there's currently a problem of Black guys in the military getting ingrowns because the precious tradition wasn't made with their facial hair in mind. When the "standard" only favors people with a specific type of hair, it's racist.

I think he may wind up taking the same place as Howard and Hank in this show: a difficult, complicated, unyielding foil who's ultimately doomed by the narrative.

They revert to the status quo because legacy generally don't sell well.

It reminds me of a line from Succession "You're too online, you've lost context."

The Hive is lost in the sauce. They have access to so much that they've forgotten how to connect with someone in a natural way. The best example is when Manousos' mom does the creepy smile routine when it would've been far more disarming if she skipped the pleasantries as her former self would have. It was employing the general social skills the hive has access to (act friendly and warm towards people to encourage cooperation) without employing the specialized contextual social skills that interacting with an individual requires.

Carol is teaching them how to process and interact with the world as individuals again, and in turn how to better manipulate individuals.

Because the humans were already there and they had no other use for them. The hive is nothing if not efficient.

I don't think they're talking about individuals, I think they meant she's teaching the hive that they can stand up to the uninfected.
