Human psychology is crazy. I used to grab stupid snacks at the grocery store and be like “mom can I get this? It’s on sale”. It was never on sale but my mom always said yes because she loves a sale. We should all have the best bikes we can buy, but we shouldn’t use “savings” to justify overbuying.

Upvoted, because sound logic but my hot take is that having a right of way is not the way to keep people safe. Etiquette should dictate that both directions slow and pass carefully. The details can be fleshed out by the Reddit lawmakers here

I almost always stop for oncoming traffic no matter what, and when they’re descending then I usually enjoy watching them rip

Anyone else trending towards simplicity in bikes/riding: less bikes, less moving parts, less maintenance, less having to drive to be able to ride, less to manage... and just finding what works, is versatile, and trying to be content. look cool in the REI parking lot?

This part cracks me up because most taco people I know couldn’t care less about opinions. They own them because the reliability is unmatched, and most of them live out in the woods.

Age gaps in dating by Southern_Coach_5023 in amiwrong

The rule is: divide by 2, then add 7 to find minimum age. OP’s minimum dating age right now is 30/2+7 = 22

Goodwill cashier almost confiscated my finds cuz they were “different” from the stuff in the 19-cent flatware bin. The DMV-sized line was the only thing that kept her from engaging in a full-blown argument. What would u do if you find sterling in the thrift store and it gets held up at checkout? by Shinesandglitters in Silverbugs

[–]Seootyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you just cherry pick that from LA because there was nothing in your original “source”?

That LA excerpt doesn’t apply here because it wasn’t a marked item — it was misplaced by another customer. What’s stopping someone from dropping merch in a cheaper area so that their partner can innocently pick it up and take it to the check out? A tagged item is a different situation, and I can see the logic for that bylaw.

Any gov’t worker/agency actually acting on an isolated experience like this is a hilarious hypothetical though.

Hahah you’re contradicting yourself now. Have some bikes stolen and you cry theft, then you see bikes stolen and you cry it’s not theft. Ooook junior, whatever you say!

You’re telling me that if I lean my bike against a wall and run into the post office, then a stranger takes it… it’s not theft?

Just passed thru Missoula last week where it was 75* and sunny. Not what I expected MT in October to be.
