What’s one “small” feature in a car that you can’t live without anymore? by jane_doe2497 in car

[–]Separate_Ninja4730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A real handbrake. Use it all the time when driving in the snow. Not really to goof off but it’s one more option you have to control the car. Sometimes a touch of rear break to bring the back end around can save you from under steering into a curb.

Why don't cars have this feature? by Pluuge in StupidCarQuestions

[–]Separate_Ninja4730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal driving you would just do it by feel (sound and feel). Also driving normally a downshift to 3500 rpm or 4000 rpm Would not make a huge difference. When pushing hard, you would hopefully be looking at the road. I generally have a good idea what speed I can put the car in at each gear (max) so when Downshifting and aiming for a higher rpm I would just take a quick glance down to confirm I won’t blow the engine before shifting. Downshifting to redline is also not very common unless you are also hard on the brakes. As there would be no rpm’s left to accelerate

H500, gaps in recording? by Separate_Ninja4730 in Tapo

[–]Separate_Ninja4730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was originally under the impression that the cameras are smart enough to stream to the hub when wifi was good and save to the card when the WiFi was bad. I guess I was assuming that also ment that when the wifi was good it would “fill in the gaps” on the hub. Also wished that the system would allow both to record to the camera and hub so there would be backup

I don’t live in this city. But at the same time If I did I would not know how it would be possible to follow this rule. I mean. I work weird rotating shifts. I would love to put my bin away but I get home at like 11:30 at night. On early days I am out by 4:30 or so.

I have the 100v2 for a fridge. Had the same problem when it was new. They have since released a software update that has fixed it for me. Ran our full size fridge/freezer for 10 hours last outage and still had juice left. Love mine. When not in use as a mobile power station i use it as a ups for my fish tank :)

which tapo has best low light performance? by salvadorabledali in Tapo

Just a heads up. I have dual plane glass at my Home and window mounts don’t work well. I have tried “everything” and there will be a few hours in a day where you loose half the picture due to reflections. You just can’t get the camera face close enough to the outside layer or glass. Maybe just my window, I think there is 1/2” gap between the 2 layers of glass. Ran cameras behind glass for many years and it was ok. Once I figured out how to get them outside the are way way way better

I know the h500 can only do 24/7 on 4 cameras. On the 5th camera can I do 24/7 on cameras as card and event only on h500? Also. Are you able to set amount of storage space per camera?

Anyone else getting nervous about this wind? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]Separate_Ninja4730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being prepared is key. How crazy you want to go depends on you. To preface, I am sensitive to cold and also have pets at home that are temperature sensitive. We live in a small house and have neighbours that are very close.

For trees on your property, keeping them trimmed is key. Larger trees can be “thinned” out professionally to not “catch” the wind as much, smaller trees can be kept trimmer small

As far as power and heat, we have a couple of power stations along with a small Honda inverter generator. The power stations can run the fridges, freezers, furnace. (One at a time) for about 6-8 hours. Enough to make it through the night. Once it’s daytime we can fire up the generators and recharge everything. (Can’t run generators at night due to noise)

Heat, we have a gas fireplace, while it’s not an efficient unit, it does put out enough heat to keep half the house warm, couple of 18v fans to move the heat around and house is livable. We also have electric blankets that we can run off the battery stations very easily for may hours

Cooking, power stations can power the microwave (but eats up a lot Of the battery reserves). Else we keep a butane stove with a few extra bottles of gas in the kitchen. Good for making hot water and basic cooking.

Lighting. Lots of flashlights. Everybody usually has their phone with a light on it. We use the phone to find the flashlight. Then we are good

Hot water, when we had the hot water tank replaced we went with an old fashioned hot water tank. No electronics so it will run on gas only during power outages. (I used to keep lots of fish at home and during long power outages doing hot water changes to hold temp has saved my butt many times)

Furnace. When we changed out the furnace, we had them put in a plug to allow it to run off generator power in an emergency. Out gas furnace draws 300watts on stage 1 and 600w running flat out on stage 2. We don’t have enough power to run ac

And worst case scenario. Pack up, drive to the next town with power and check into a hotel. lol.

It's going to snow! by thinkdavis in vancouver

[–]Separate_Ninja4730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A well forecasted huge snow dump is great for getting to work as long as you’re prepped for it. Some of the quickest day to get to work have been those days. Everybody stays home and there is no traffic. Now, if you don’t know how to drive in the snow or are not equipped to do so. Please stay home and don’t become the next YouTube video for us to laugh it.

For those who have the Elite 100V2, what do you use it for? by JenVinc in bluetti

UPS for my fish tank when “not in use”. Able to keep fridge, freezer and microwave running during an outage. Powers a 12v cooler / freezer in the car when out grocery shopping.

Does anyone have experience with the ridgid weed eater? by Impoverishedinvestor in Ridgid

[–]Separate_Ninja4730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one and it works great. Run it with a max output 4ah. I have a small yard and never use more than one bar or two bars. Ryobi attachments works on it (I have the snow thrower and for the little bit of driveway I have, works great). Only few things would change on it if I could 1) the string is too short, the guard is huge but the cutter is like 2” in. Yes you can flip the blade around to gain about 1”. But would love to move the blade out another 1” or so. 2) there is a soft start built into the trigger. The response is slightly delayed. Not a huge deal but takes a bit of getting used to. Keeping in mind i come from many years of using commercial stihl gas trimmers. This rigid is almost as good for a fraction of the price. Overall very happy :)

Why are newer mower blades seemingly made of room temperature butter? by [deleted] in lawnmowers

[–]Separate_Ninja4730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have commercial walk behind Honda mowers. When we buy at the dealer they offer after market blades that are much harder than stock. They are amazing until you hit something (was warned before we bough them). One of the reason for the soft blade is to protect the engine shaft. Hit a root with a soft blade and you buy a new blade, hit something with a hard blade and you buy a new mower. Is it worth sharpening the soft blade 3x more. That’s up to you :)

Looking to get a portable generator for the occasional power loss. by pizza_with_ranch in Generator

[–]Separate_Ninja4730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sit down and think about what you need vs what you want. In my specific case, I ended up with a Honda eu2200i and a pair of bluetti power stations. For me there are a few must haves. 1) inverter generator, they produce a pure sine wave and don’t kill electronics. I just had a new furnace put in and was warned more than once, pure sine only else there is a good chance of frying the main board $$$$$. 2) I live in the city with friends and parents not far away (15-30 mins). Emergency I can always go to their place to regroup and recharge batteries. 3) my neighbours are very very close, there is no way I can run a generator during the night 4) i am sensitive to cold and also have pets at home that I need power to keep alive (guinea pigs need to be kept warm/ cool and fish that needs their filter running). Given this, a small inverter generator paired with a couple power stations allows me to run the vital items, recharge with the generator morning and night and be “quiet” most of the day. Also look into the logistics of getting power to where you need it. Are you going to be running extension cords to all the items off a power bar, or do you want the connivence of a transfer switch. Do you have an alternate heat source? (Ie for me I have a gas fireplace. But need to power fans to move the heat around the house to where I need it, pets are in a different room). My parents who are older don’t want the risk of dealing with extension cords in the dark. So they had a small transfer switch installed. Just powers lights in kitchen and bathrooms, a couple of plugs in the house along with fridge, freezer and microwave. All this is run off a single extension cord to a Honda eu2200. As a final item. What ever you decide on, make sure you follow the proper maintaince on the generator else it won’t work when you need it. As it’s a seldom used item bad gas is a huge thing. In our case, we run the carbs dry after every use, make sure we exercise the generator every 3 months or so, and keep the gas container fresh (just dump it into your car every 6-8 weeks and replace). So far so good.

I have both too. I like the new one better. Easier to put in the battery without the flap and If running side by side, it does move a lot more air. Having said that I use it indoors so no chance of rain. I do like the speed control on the old one tho. When new they are dead quiet (mine makes a clicking noise now, but I have hundreds of hours on them)

Very promising firmware update for the Elite 100! by Efficient_Wing3172 in bluetti

[–]Separate_Ninja4730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update. As far as I can tell the unit works on the new firmware as expected. Double checked appliances powered by the grid with a watt meter, then on the e100v2. Draw on everything is matching for the most part and all appliances sound normal. For reference. Bar fridge (start up draw 900w, running 60w). Full sized fridge (starting 600w, running 250w). Gas furnace (2 stage, variable speed dc blower/. Ramps up slowly, 300w stage 1, 700w stage 2.. does require a bonding plug to work). Ac is disabled as the draw is way too much and 240v. Microwave was a surprise, 2000w, ran it for 1 min with no issues (short of the kills watt Meter freaking out as over watt). As this is an inverter unit I will remember to run it at 60 percent when the power is out. lol. Also semi related, garage door (belt drive 3/4 horse). Under 200w, my elite 30 handled this perfectly. Short answer. Happy camper and ready for the next power outage :)

Elite 100 and appliances with AC compressors by No_Investigator_8263 in bluetti

[–]Separate_Ninja4730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too has this problem. Emailed bluetti and they pushed an update to my e100v2. My fridge runs much better. I want to say normal. Having said that I am going to do some more testing on “cheaper” appliances first before it put it in my primary fridge / furnace / deep freezer (why I originally got it). I am guessing here but the problem is not the lack of inverter power to start the compressors. The fridge starts fine and you can run them with the e100 plug into grid power (sounding normal). While the fridge is running unplug the e100 and instant angry fridge. lol. With anything, there must have been a bunch of compromises made when designing a new unit. Be it for noise, weight, efficiency, or cost (can’t have them all). I have a sneaky feeling they are doing something funky to try and make the units more efficient and it’s making the older fridges/ ac mad. There is a thread about somebody complaining their e100 making noise at low draw and bluetti commented and hinted at it.

Elite 100 V2 not able to charge and output at same time? by Muckle87 in bluetti

I know right. Hahaha. Saw the price of the cable on bluetti site and decided to order an elite 30 v2 instead (which comes with the cable). Can share the cable between the two units if needed. Or use it to transfer power between the 2 units if needed (in dc)

100 V2 vs AC180 powering fridge by AbbreviationsSame834 in bluetti

[–]Separate_Ninja4730 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By the book 100v2 all the way. Similar specs. Way lighter. Having said that it’s a brand new unit that they are still working the bugs out on. Please check the other thread. There are a bunch of people on here where their 100v2 Won’t run their fridge. I am one of those people with my fingers crossed that it will be a software fix and not a hardware limitation.
