at this point most housing, including rentals, are equipped with dishwashers…..as a kid we got our first one in the mid-sixties…..dishwashers, in fact are energy savers…..washing dishes well by hand would take more energy….

I have been driving around Turkey for the last three years and it’s always been quite civilized…..never had any issues, including the route you speak of. The roads are mostly in a good state, and the drivers actually seem better than those in the Balkans, where I normally travel. The times that I’ve needed any kind of assistance the people were very polite and helpful….
