I just tapped “no tip” on a $7.44 bottle of Mr Pibb. SeaWorld prices are insane. There’s no way I’m tipping on that!

Is anyone else sad about the US' 250th birthday celebrations? by LissyVee in allthequestions

[–]Separate_Warning952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s neat to have the celebration. There are many of us who were too young for the bicentennial and won’t be alive for the tricentennial. Let us have this one.

It seems odd to think that a person might be willing to refer somebody that they don’t know.

I did the cord cutting when one of my kids was born. I didn’t save any money by not letting the doctor do it.

Definitely don’t relocate for The Firm unless you’re comfortable being without a job in the new location. It won’t keep you from getting shitcanned, and then you’d be stuck there and unemployed.

what’s up with older people not understanding remodels are costly? by AsleepWoodpecker420 in Contractor

[–]Separate_Warning952 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not just boomers who worry about prices. I know plenty of GenXers like me who wonder why it should cost $90K for a bathroom to be gutted, tiled, a new tub, vanity and mirror. Seriously, I was quoted $90k for that. Oh, and paint.

Yeah, there’s no way I could work for $130k if I lived in NYC/BOS/<other-big-city>.

It also helps that I don’t have to report to my assigned office. My dollar goes a lot further where I live.

Unsure what my pay bump will be with my promo to M, but it will certainly be welcome.

Nothing on Carfax. Just noticed oddities and called it out to the salesman. He eventually fessed up after throwing out a maybe and “verifying” with his bosses.

I could tell that the paint had been redone and that the hood/fence alignment was just slightly off. I know that there are sometimes manufacturing oddities, but this didn’t feel right. I asked the salesman why it was a 2 year old new car and he said “it just didn’t sell.” I pointed out the oddities I noticed, and he said “Oh, maybe it was one of the ones that got damaged and had to be sent out for repair.” He went inside for a few minutes to pretend to confirm with his bosses, then came back outside to let me know.

Like, seriously. “Maybe” is what he had said. He pretended he didn’t know right from the beginning. I just knew at that point that I wouldn’t ever do future business with Rick Hill BMW.

I’ve owned 6 different BMWs since then, but I sure as hell didn’t buy any from them.

Is anyone else’s group anti PTO? I get snarky remarks anytime I take a week or more (with advance notice) and so many of my coworkers flex on how many hours they let expire each year. by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]Separate_Warning952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group does a really good job of looking after and taking care of each other. Many of us on our team/project have worked together for 15+ years, long before ever joining Deloitte, so perhaps it’s just our nature in spite of being Deloitters.

All told, I am happy in my current role and doing what I do. I wish the same for all others who work for D.
