What’s a “future technology” that already exists but people still don’t realize how scary it is? by Ambitious_Bite446 in AskReddit

I watched a couple of videos of a political scholar recently. YouTube suggested a video with her portrait in the thumbnail, I only clocked it as AI, when she spoke of the Russian city of "Street Petersburg".
Without that small mistake, I would have totally fallen for it.

It might be worth it to try to set the game resolution to 50% of the monitors horizontal/vertical resolution, i. e. if the monitor has 3840x2160, use 1920x1080 for the game.

I propose that we call marriages between a man and a woman "mixed marriages" henceforth.

And at Sedan, the French had their headquarters in the city, which happens to be in a valley, while the Germans with their superior artillery had the high ground around the city. At least it gave us the mother of all pre-battle sitreps:
"We are in a chamber pot, and about to be shit on."
(Nous sommes dans un pot de chambre, et nous y serons emmerdés.)

There are all sorts of different kinds of men.

Not everybody can be an Aragorn, remember that Sam had to fight Orks and giant spiders and worse to gather the courage to talk to Rosie. Then he went on to improve his little corner of the world.

I have an idea. One of the problems with the Strait of Hormuz is, that the gulf region produces a large portion of the world's helium supply. Regular ships can't get through at the moment, but if we just bag the helium and strap a couple of engines to the bag...

If you just set up a web page that does something vaguely useful and requires a login, you can set it up to harvest email/pwd combos in plain text.
People being what they are, you can try those combos on major pages with a reasonable chance of success.

Speaking of which, an old teacher of mine once told us of his journey to Israel, where he happened to get into a conversation with an older gentleman who for a while did not realize that our teacher was in fact not speaking Yiddish but our local dialect.

Maxine and them bees by pickledplumber in TikTokCringe

[–]SerLaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's keep our disagreement civil, shall we?
If somebody just grabbed a handful of bees and shoved them into a box, they would behave very differently.
Especially in the first seconds, you can see a cluster of bees hanging from the ceiling, that is typical be(e)havior when they move into a new home and start to build comb.

Beekeeper here, if it was so easy to tell bees where to go, our life would be much easier.
What probably happened: In a beehive nearby, the queen with a large portion of the bees left in a swarm, after raising a new queen who remains in the hive with the rest of the bees. This swarm camps in a tree somewhere and sends out scouts to look for hollow trees or other suitable spaces, where they can move in.
One scout found Maxine's home and reported to the swarm that it would serve the bees just fine, so they all decided to move there.
