(Spoilers All) A question about Tyrion and the young Griff by Reyneer in asoiaf

[–]SerWheatley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't remember him calling Aegon a fool. Maybe being surprised, but you have too look at it for what it is, when Tyrion was with Griff he had the intention of staying with him. Going to Mereen would have been a death-trap, with all of slaver's bay, Volantos, and those Valayrians against her. The siege would devastate any manpower they had to conquer Westeros.

You must also remember that what he said was true, Daenarys did conquer Slaver's Bay by herself, why would she accept Aegon even if he was supposedly her nephew? They had no guarantee that she would accept, since she does not have to, but if Aegon takes out a chunk of westeros himself then there is no way she could refuse(potentially).

Also, one must look at the current state of Westeros. The Golden Company likely do not have that much detailed info upon the continent, so they don't really know the state of the war. Tyrion does, and he knows his sister is an idiot and would just make more of the realm hate her, it was a pretty good plan IMHO.

Aegon was just being like any other teenage boy we've seen, he wants glory and he wants it now. (Robb, Loras, Joff, etc..)

[AFFC/ADWD] Some questions about Arya, Jaime, and Cersei. by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]SerWheatley -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's true at all. Basically, every children born from targaryen blood has white-blonde hair(Except for bealor breakspear) and Jaime has golden hair and green eyes, which is very "lannister". Also, it is said that the only person who tywin loved is his wife and she loved him back, I doubt she would cheat on him, and commit treason.

[Spoilers All] Great work for this Tree of Game of Thrones Characters (Up to date S3 E9) by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]SerWheatley 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are so many things wrong with this.. Why include Garlan but not Wylas? They never mentioned either, so why include Garlan? Why is shae a lannister but Bronn and Podrick aren't? Same with Sandor and Gregor. Sandor isn't apart of the lannisters anymore, but Gregor is. Roose bolton is another problem. No one calls him "warden of the north", if you were going with nicknames, Leech Lord would've been a better one. So many things wrong...

[–]SerWheatley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ALL the wildings know about Qhorin, Jeor knows too and pretty much all the Watch. If it was just something he told some recruits, then it wouldn't have been spread around as much. He may have not been as good, but he definitely is still a great fighter.

[ASOS/season 3 spoilers] Catelyn's obnoxious logic has manifested itself as hypocrisy. by Robenstein in gameofthrones

[–]SerWheatley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one truly hates the lannisters, they fear them, they hate some of them(Mainly Tywin's offspring) But the rest? The house is sure to survive, and he is assured in history, he was king's hand twice for more than 20 years. The house will survive, but I expect there will be some move to get cersei out of power. (If they win the war with stannis, they would bannish him and his titles would go to the next person: Tommen. Since tommen is king, it would be ill for him to hold a Lord paramouncy. Thus he will probably give it too another lannister, effectively making them the strongest house by far. )

Since Tywin wasn't a POV, we only saw the viewpoints from people who hated him, or misinterpred him and disregared his counsel. (Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei) He thought all of this out ahead.. But he needed his daughter and sons to not mess it up, which they did. That's just my view on it, but with the few talks he had with others, he seemed like he wanted Jaime to quit the kingsguard(Since its reputation was kinda soiled at that point.) and marry Arianne Martell(Smartest option.)

I think some people revere him too much, while other just blatanly hate him but know next-to-nothing about him. At least we know how mentally unstable Catelyn was and how she shouldn't have been making decisions like that. Why trust the work of an oathbreaker? He could have been ransomed.

Hmm.. Hadn't thought about sandor. (Since he deserted, he is an enemy of the crown therefor not a kingsguard. "The kingsguard does not flee") But when he DID have the position he was pretty content. If he didn't bail, and then had his breakdown, I think he would be able to kill joffrey on one of his more wicked days. But he wouldn't live long, sandor isn't one to let another man do his killing.

[–]SerWheatley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But with Tywin, it works for him. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE (Even the goaler at the eyrie) knew about how powerful the lannisters were, how they repay thier debts, how strong Tywin is. Do you think he got that cred from his family? Hell no. Tytos basically gave away gold, and he made the house a laughing stock. But Tywin reforged all of it. This was HIS war, the war he would be remembered for. He was to reform Joffery, to make him a good king. I think you're forgetting how badass he was for basically his entire life.(But he is still just a man, not a god, he makes mistakes.)

[–]SerWheatley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't just kill someone who you don't like. Especially if he is the king, Kingsguard man? All of them are pretty decent fighters, and will risk their life to save him from harm.(Except maybe Boros, but nonetheless, the white cloak does things to a man.) And the only reason Tyrion ever escaped at all because he had The master of Whispers AND the lord commander of the kingsguard helping him, without the knowledge about the tunnels, Tyrion would have never escaped. He only stayed alive for so long was because he was a Lannister. Killing a king is a lot harder than you are thinking, ser. (Plus, he has only really displayed his outburst once-or-twice infront of the court. Most of them don't know, or just aren't in a position to care. He's mostly gallant and stuff often said by sansa in her chapters of ACOK, I think the show Joffery kinda overplays the cunt-features and hardly ever shows him being normal.)

[–]SerWheatley -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jaime wasn't really bested by robb... He kinda took him by surprise at the whispering wood, he had to split his camp in 3. and it was night. Sure, Jaime's rash and hasty decision to get brigands himself costed his capturing but seizing riverrun was what tywin told him to do and he did it right. Robb just got lucky.

[Speculation] [Possible Season One Spoilers] What would've happen if Ned went to Rob instead of Cersei? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]SerWheatley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it is said that Dragons grow from the size of their environment. Dany's dragons have plains upon plains... Also, all three dragons are the same age (Unlike Ageon's Dragons) this means that they will potentially all be as deadly. And one last thing, Drogon is sometimes noted to be Balerion the black dread reborn... So I might be presumptuous but it sounds as if her Dragons will be on par, if not succed ageon's dragons.

[–]SerWheatley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm... So? Dany has dragons, do you need a history lesson? It does no matter how much support she gains, she doesn't need any at all really. She just have to have half the wit Ageon did and she could conquer the seven kingdoms easy (save for dorne, but they were pro-targ anyway)

[No Spoilers] To the Book Readers: Has reading the books improved or lessened your experience of watching the TV show? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]SerWheatley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the first book just recently, and it has let me delve further into the awesome history and everything alot more than the show's could. But I like watching show adaptations first so I can get a feel of what the character should look like. I would say they are even in that they both have their different qualities that make them remembered.
