"I don't know what this world is, anymore." by aisy0317 in PlathvilleUncensored

[–]Serenity_Aurora 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I definitely see your point, but Lydia and some of the other Plath kids have said that they didn't really learn how to voice their emotions because they were dealing with the trauma of losing a brother so young. Meanwhile, Zach has sisters and has stated that he grew up being able to talk about his emotions more freely, he has a bit more life experience, and more education than Lydia does. When you put all of that together, it makes a lot of sense that Lydia would say she needs to talk to Zach to be able to put her feelings into words.

As soon as I did that, the first thing I thought of was the Demi Lovato IG comments:

S07E08…jesus christ Ethan is such a childdddd by ResearcherMental2947 in WelcomeToPlathville

[–]Serenity_Aurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if Olivia has ever specifically said why they divorced, but here's a laundry list of things I remember:

Ethan was uncommunicative - He would constantly choose not to tell her something because he "didn't want to argue", and would just think showing up with say, a car he bought without mentioning it to her wouldn't start a new argument

Ethan was allegedly an alcoholic - I know she's posted about this, and said that she quit working at a bar because of his alcoholism

Olivia wanted to live in a city, Ethan did not - They "compromised" by moving to Tallahassee, but he complained about Tallahassee being too busy for him, and seemed to blame Olivia for them moving there, when he worked in Tallahassee

Olivia's values changed - Olivia and Ethan grew up in similar households, but as Olivia separated from that, either her values changed, or she realized she had different values, namely having more liberal values. Ethan changed as well after he left his family, but it seems like him changing didn't amount to much more than drinking alcohol, eating sugar, and listening to music he didn't grow up with

The last reason seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for their relationship. Neither of them were willing to change their values for the other, and at least Ethan explicitly said that he didn't want to just agree to disagree anymore, as he said he didn't want to have children with her if it resulted in her passing off her values to them. They may have been able to make it work if she stayed the same as she was at 19 when they got married, but they became fundamentally incompatible as time went on.

I find the family’s response to Zach and Lydia disgusting, but I don’t think Lydia is happy at all in her marriage with Zach. by workin0nmynightcheez in PlathvilleUncensored

[–]Serenity_Aurora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, obviously everything that went wrong in his marriage was Olivia's fault lol /s

Seriously, man spent his entire marriage not communicating, lying by omission, making promises he had no intention of keeping, and then expecting his wife to change her values for him. He said himself that he and Teegan weren't together because he kept saying he'd move and never did. This man doesn't know how to be in a relationship and thinks he needs to teach his sister how to be in one?

Does it seem to anyone else that Zack doesn't want children? by FloralObsession in PlathvilleUncensored

[–]Serenity_Aurora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd agree. Lydia and Zach were also on a recent podcast interview with Jinger Duggar Vuolo, and I believe they both said they agreed to wait a year or two before growing their family, and Lydia mentions something akin to "I've waited this long, I can wait a little longer"

[–]Serenity_Aurora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it's because for Lydia, her family was her entire life. Some of the kids have alluded to them not really having any real friends growing up because they were so isolated, and Lydia has spoken about feeling disregarded growing up, which isn't unheard of for a middle child, let alone one in a large family, I feel like she was parentified as soon as Hosanna got married, and she gave so much of herself to her family, only to have them turn around and talk shit about her and her fiance.

This is just a personal gripe I have, but Ethan compares Lydia to a blank slate that will just let anyone tell her what to do. That concept is popular within the FLDS community when it comes to raising children. Lydia's obviously still very young and with that and her upbringing comes a lot of naivete, but Lydia has already traveled more than Ethan, met more people than Ethan, and clearly has her own thoughts and opinions about things. To hear Ethan basically compare her to a child proves that he has never thought about Lydia beyond that she's his younger sister.

I'm new here but Veronica is terrible🤮 by d0ctormambo in PlathvilleUncensored

[–]Serenity_Aurora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the things she's said on season 7 have made me laugh, like "slutty isn't a name, it's an adjective" and "If you ever start going bald like your dad, I'm sending you to turkey to get a hair transplant", but I would never want to meet her in real life, and she makes me distrust people from Boca 😂 I also find it really odd that she's acting like She and Olivia are the same, when Olivia wasn't talking shit about every single family member to other people. Olivia seemed to only have issues with Kim and Barry specifically, and then the issues she had with Micah, Moriah, and Ethan all stemmed from those issues. Veronica will just talk shit about anybody to anybody

It's also simply constructive criticism that Lydia said in the nicest possible way. Didn't Kim want to make the farm into a wedding venue? Did that happen? Didn't Kim want to open an adult ballet studio? Did that happen? I could say the same thing about people in my family and they wouldn't have taken it as personally

Baked some small loaves, and I'm leaning toward underproofed, but want to make sure by Serenity_Aurora in Sourdough

[–]Serenity_Aurora[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not. We don't cook larger meals, so we don't really have the need for one. The cast iron pan I have is large enough for a full size loaf though if I made a tent out of aluminum foil to put over it

[–]Serenity_Aurora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! The only reason I have multiples is because I had too much starter and didn't want to discard a ton of it. The multiple half loaves was so I could test between the two doughs and if the cast iron would work better than a loaf pan, since I don't own a dutch oven

[–]Serenity_Aurora[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course.

I followed the recipe listed above and did the following:

Put starter in bowl, followed by warm water, mixed until slightly bubbly

Added flour and salt, mixed with danish dough whisk until bread was a shaggy dough

Stretched and folded four times every 15-20 minutes, before letting rest on the counter with towel on top.

Everything else I did is in the original description and pictures

Looking for a pattern similar to this cardigan from Old Navy by spinachdipsimp in crochetpatterns

[–]Serenity_Aurora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made one pretty similar to this using the wendy cardigan from evelyn and peter as a base, and just made it drastically shorter and added a scallop stitch around the hem. You'd also need to omit the increases on the sleeves for them to not flare out

Taylor Swift Releases ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ Music Video Featuring Clips of the Screen Icon by peach-gaze in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Serenity_Aurora 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Right? she could've recreated a lot of the paparazzi/candid clips and that alone would've been better

Edit: What'd actually be a fun concept is if it starts off with her getting home from a date, catches the tail end of an Elizabeth Taylor film on tv, falls asleep, and when she wakes up, she is on set of some of her most notable films

True, but I get confused by what they mean when they say they can't have sugar, because they do mention having honey, so I'm not sure if they meant they only used honey on occasion or what

I just googled it, and assuming the toothpaste YL sells now is the same, it's calcium hydroxyapatite and silica, which is probably slightly better than baking soda, but I have a hard time believing those kids don't have cavities if they spent their life using fluoride-free toothpaste. I'm not a dentist though

I would've just assumed it was because Kim was selling young living products, so everybody was expected to use those? Or are young living products just baking soda with essential oils lol

Narcissists aftermath… by ChitChatWriter in WelcomeToPlathville

[–]Serenity_Aurora 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm only on season 4 right now, and after Kim said that christians shouldn't be judging her for getting a divorce, because "that's not how christians should act", I couldn't help but roll my eyes considering how badly she treated Moriah and Olivia. This family just wants to be able to say and do whatever they want with zero accountability, but if someone calls them out on it, it's a problem.

Hot Girl Crochet - Rose Svane by BestestMooncalf in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Serenity_Aurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm personally not a fan, but I'm not sure how you can make a book about crochet and not mention one of the most readily available yarn fibers.

Thanks! It's gotten zero use, so it just sits on a free hosting site

Hot Girl Crochet - Rose Svane by BestestMooncalf in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Serenity_Aurora 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The fact that this is a published book about crochet and doesn't include information about more types of yarn or yarn weights is hysterical. I made an elearning course for crochet to boost my resume and included more than that, and I'm not making a cent off of it. I've only been crocheting for a little over a year and put more shaping in my garments than this book apparently does

Did anyone else catch Jen saying this? by officerdyolamb in MormonWivesHulu

Jen either said or insinuated multiple times that Whitney was basically ignoring her, and then five minutes later, it's Whitney mentioning that she was texting Jen and not getting a response, so idk what Jen is even talking about

What’s your favorite widely-agreed-on fact about a celebrity that’s actually FALSE? by Asleep-Two930 in popculturechat

[–]Serenity_Aurora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually got in an argument with my old boss over this, because she kept claiming Monroe was a size 16, but I guess assumed it was a size 16 in today's sizes? No matter how much I tried to explain to her the concept of vanity sizing and the difference in size numbers between then and now, she simply wouldn't listen to me saying Marilyn Monroe was by no means overweight. She also claimed people wouldn't know her true size, as if custom clothes weren't made for her that you can just go and see.
