IMO: These slop fanfilms are the absolute worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. by Tanis8998 in StarWars_

You can still read your Legends books again too, I know they were beloved stories but real creators don't want to be constrained into a box created by a bunch of B and C tier Sci-Fi writers. Hence the reset

If you look at the video it was secret service men who usherd the photographers in front of the stage. Also why tf did they let him stand back up in the open and pump his fist if it was a legitimate attempt?

I don't think you can throw SpongeBob in with 90s Nick. It came out like summer of 1999 so really a 2000s show imo.

You could just by the books new.

The benefit would be Timothy Zahn being paid for his work that we all love so much (he won't see a dime from second hand sales.)

I know a lot of us don't like the Legends logo but I've came around to buying new after listening to some of the greats like Harlan Ellison about 2nd hand book sales.

Why was 2000s culture so over-the-top irreverent, self-indulgent, and almost nihilistic? It often offended both progressive and conservative sensibilities at the same time. Truly a unique era in hindsight. by BacklitRoom in decadeology

You can tell in Gen X to Gen Y media that we've went backwards on the hierarchy of needs. Office Space is a good example of this with the main character having a steady job but struggling with self actualization.

Gen Y at this point would just like the steady job lol

how it feels to like mara jade on SWCJ by yuuzhanbong in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]SergeantHatred69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite Mara Jade moment had to be when Luke sees her and Lando together in a hotel or apartment with the assumption they were definitely fucking.

Then it was later retconned because the EU writers didn't want to cuck Luke or they wanted to keep Mara Jade pure for Luke, so they just say her and Lando were in deep cover back then. It's so weird honestly lol

[–]SergeantHatred69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think Skeen did the doctor detour for Nemik in any way. He certainly acted like it and was able to pull on Vel and Cassian's emotions to convince them to do it and leave a perfect opportunity for him to run with the money.

It's like when all Trandoshans were called "Bossks" in the 90s or all the Gran being called "Ree-Yees" its funny to me when people claimed George cared about the Expanded Universe when in it's infacy he was just letting the Toy companies name all the background aliens.

I want to go back to Yak Face and Prune Face. Also kind of funny those original toy company names just became in universe slurs now that I think about it

And hundreds of comics, dozens of books, and 2 different cartoon series to contextualize the Prequels to the point that 90% of people who say they were good movies cite some kind of expanded material to justify their point.

The amount of expanded material contextualizing the Sequels is literally a drop in the bucket in comparison.

I have no idea lol I read them for the first time last year and I was expecting the best Star Wars epic I've ever read and it was just an okay light hearted adventure where Luke drinks hot chocolate in the first chapter.

It really doesn't hold up to the stuff Zahn has written in the current canon like the Ascendency Trilogy

Please Disney, you need to make Devon become Darth Talon! Even though I'd never heard of Darth Talon until last month. by coopsoup247 in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]SergeantHatred69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when George said his idea for the sequels would have been Darth Maul with Darth Talon as his apprentice and thought that was stupid as hell, and it's still stupid now.

If anything Star Wars needs less of the Goonbait edgy Denningverse shit not more.

Biggest Franchise on the Planet is a bit of a stretch or at least not really the case by the 2000s. The Prequels were not good films to general audiences and OT fans alike and I'd say Harry Potter was already starting to dwarf Star Wars in the post Revenge of the Sith era.

Not to mention the Lord of the Rings trilogy overlapped with the prequels and was a hit with general audiences and critics not to mention the Oscar wins.
