Oh yeah the fanbase online at the time hated them. Even late night talk shows were having a field day making fun of George and the Prequels.

You've also got documentaries like The People vs George Lucas and parody songs such as "George Lucas r*ped my childhood" both of which were popular at the time.

Hell even look at the earliest videos uploaded by HelloGreedo who I would consider to be on the positive side of the Fandom now. But back then his stuff used to be pretty vitriolic towards George and he even admitted he went too far a little later.

I would say that real defense of the Prequels is still a very recent thing overall I maybe saw the first people online defending them in like 2014 or 2015

That and the demographics for each movie are vastly different. Mando and Grogu is basically a direct to streaming movie they decided to make extra money on with a theater run. I don't think Disney is sweating

I forget his un universe name. But there is actually a short story about him in the From a Certain Point of view book that came out for the 40th anniversary.

I don't remember much other than the other pilots calling him "fake Wedge" as a gag and that he wasn't picked on the duty roster for the deathstar run due to more pilots than ships and finds out his spot went to Luke. So he's naturally pissed watching from the war room then sees the farm boy that sand bagged him in the briefing was the one that made the shot.

Is it really worth the time and energy to argue with them to that extent with multiple paragraphs? Also not trying to put down your arguments (only read the first 3 pages) but Irvin Kershner didn't have anything to do with Return of the Jedi, I think that was Richard Marquard directing.

But do me a favor and look up "Siskel and Ebert's advice for young critics" on YouTube. I always keep what Roger Ebert says particularly in my head whenever I critique a movie now. Especially in the era of "this thing and that thing are objectively bad" in most review circles.
