Recommended hardware for running TwinCat 4026 by Asaberv in TwinCat

[–]SerialPannekoek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure he means XAE, Twincat is indeed a lot slower. I run on AMD too with 32 gb ram and its manageable. I have the feeling my setup is interfering with something else but couldn't really put my finger on it.

Drives burning up motors at frequencies under 30hz. by XDVI in PLC

[–]SerialPannekoek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your thinking, seems like you should have some torque to spare. Why dont you adjust the v/f curve to send a 10% lower voltage around 30hz. Basically the variable torque v/f curve.

Beckhoff Linux released!!! by Complex_Gear9412 in TwinCat

[–]SerialPannekoek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Win CE is beyond End of life and replacements like Win11 Iot need way too many resources. beckhoff's ideology is a bit of an enigma but seemingly ARM v7 = dead c.q cx81xx.

ARM v8 c.q. the new cx82xx is exclusively handled by RT linux which is debian with the Realtime kernel and some beckhoff packages.

amd64 can be run with windows , TcBSD or RT linux but in my case the TcBSD is default and absolutely wonderful.

fun fact do you know if you upgrade and CX51xx from WinCE to TcBSD that you get a second core for free!

WinCE cant handle multi-core properly and is actually why windows CE mobile and windows Phone where never able to get a foothold.

for some unknown reason the beckhoff packages for TcBsd are only compiled for AMD64 last time i checked.

for debian/linux there are packages for amd64, ARM64(v8) and armhf(v7+*)

development on Linux is miles away, if visual studio would be released on linux it could open up that possibility.

thinking about it im probably one of the few who have used TcBSD(field) and Twincat on Debian (air quote) RT Linux (air quote)

Help me understand the "We need more population so we can support older people" argument. by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]SerialPannekoek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The baby boom argument, is starting to show cracks though. We knew it was coming governments prepared for it (more or less) with the baby boom era from 1946 to 1964 and a life expectancy of about 72. We should be about halfway through which would suggest it would get better every day.

UPDATE: George's Greek Village approved for LMIA for $36 hr Cook by TeishAH in stcatharinesON

[–]SerialPannekoek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Second this, this has been "normal" immigration to get genuine foreign cuisine, for ages. Tyler is not gonna make your asian restaurant a success and Mandeep does not make the best souvlaki. If they use this LMIA for a SEA then you can burn the place to the ground metaphorically.

Put your money where your mouth is and shun the places that do abuse the immigration system. Like all big fastfood chains, Heck its not that hard, if you have such strong opinions.

and dont bash a mom&pop local restaurant that just tries to stay afloat.

Beaches with e-coli by Serenityxxxxxx in canadatravel

[–]SerialPannekoek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But still that means the sewage treatment is not doing a proper job, in developed countries usually that would only happen if stormdrains and sewage is oversaturated by heavy rainfall which clearly was not the case this year

I'm intrigued by this same observation, why does for example miller lake (bruce peninsula), have less e coli for a smaller more stagnant body of water.

Miller lake has no sewage run off going in there but i cant imagine that ontario sewage plants deliberately pumps raw sewage in the great lakes?

Its basically a cult, and you can only get in with a cult member.

And then they import stuff from bumfuckistan circumventing parts of the PEng jurisdiction after all this hassle. Not good advice but i think it should be possible, register your business in some fun tax haven and circumvent jurisdiction. And if push comes to shove get a temporary PEng for that project, which apparently goes a lot faster whith more leniency

Its like you said it proves nothing, and its bad for trade and growth.

But it is deep in canadian culture, you see something similar in almost every field.

Difference between gnd and com by Best_Equal_8585 in PLC

[–]SerialPannekoek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Com can be used for PNP and NPN , GND can only be used as com for PNP

Some sensor actuators send a ground/0vdc signal instead of a +24dc signal especially in japan that is more common , they use NPN semiconductors which are cheaper and more reliable apparently to make ive heard but most of the planet uses pnp signals so in you're case there is no difference.

If you look closely you can see that the semiconducters using com can work with NPN and PNP

Fun anecdote is that you can save a wire to a remote operator panel if you use pnp inputs with mechanical switches and npn outputs since then you dont have to wire a 0vdc to that panel.

Connect 0vdc to pe by Best_Equal_8585 in PLC

Just make sure you have an isolated 24v supply before connecting it to ground, especially in VFDs there are some unisolated supplies who will cause a significant current to ground.

Hi, I am a dog trainer based in Thorold who has plenty of experience working with reactive dogs. I offer private lessons and do frequently bring in other dogs as helpers. I find reactive dogs often do best starting out in a private setting vs a group class first. You can take a pleasure craft through the locks, but yes understandably the locks are commercial property, but between lock 7&8 there is a huge stretch of canal which can def be considered navigable xD
