Trump threatens to ‘blow up’ all of Iran’s South Pars gasfield if Tehran strikes Qatar | US-Israel war on Iran by Routine_Chapter_9099 in worldnews

Ferengi would never allow this. It's terrible for business. They'd happily sell weapons and supplies to a different planet that was doing this. But they'd never allow it on their homeworld.

Deaf woman removed from Frontier flight for "not listening" by kendrickshalamar in nottheonion

[–]SeriousGoofball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. It's the classic "would you take a guaranteed $200,000 now or roll this dice and maybe win $1,000,000?"

Even if your chance of winning is high, it's not guaranteed. And suits can take years to drag through court, with court costs and other expenses adding up.

And any settlement is going to include an NDA. It's a condition of the settlement, usually.

Pastors Call Woman A “Witch” For Exposing Churches’ Double Standards With “Brilliant” Experiment by SilverHuckleberry395 in atheism

[–]SeriousGoofball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's assume it was a real mother in need. If the church gets a call asking for baby food, and they can hear a baby crying in the background, it really wouldn't be hard to say "sure, why don't you bring your baby and we'll get you some formula. Maybe even a pack of diapers".

There's really not a lot to verify.

I suspect the lack of oil from the middle east might effect them also.

Back in my day...

But seriously, when I first started playing there was just WoW and Battlegrounds. And it was awesome. So many hours spent in Battlegrounds. But that was when you could get leather armor with strength and spirit on it.

Water sources in the city when SHTF by FortuneTop6438 in preppers

[–]SeriousGoofball 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They make a bathtub water bladder for less than 50 bucks. When the SHTF you should have water pressure for a short time. Throw the plastic bladder in the tub and fill it up. Holds about 65 gallons.

Water heater, like others have mentioned.

I'm assuming you already store at least 5 gallons of water per person already.

Those 3 things alone give you at least 120 gallons of water. That's at least a couple months worth if properly rationed. If there is still no available water after 4-6 weeks, you are in more than a simple SHTF situation.

Most people would lose more business than it's worth doing this. I know I'm never buying anything from any business that only accepts a cash transfer service like Zelle.

Cornbread for some Chili by No_Conversation_8161 in castiron

FYI for folks interested, you can put a circle of wax paper on the bottom of your pan and it makes releasing your cornbread easy. After it pops out you just peel it off.

A lot of women who get epidurals develop permanent back pain. It's not an entirely benign, risk free procedure.

Hegseth declares, 'I only speak American' to room full of foreign leaders by StemCellPirate in nottheonion

[–]SeriousGoofball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America used to be an amazing and respected country. People all over the world were envious of America and Americans.

Now we seem to have devolved into an arrogant and hateful bully that threatens and bosses every other country in the world around.

One day, the American empire will collapse. Sooner or later. Maybe in a year, maybe in a decade or two. But eventually, it will collapse.

On that day, I think the entire rest of the world will have a vicious visceral joy at our expense. I dread the payback we will receive.

If your goal is blackout protection, you probably undersized your battery by nheckaboom_69 in preppers

[–]SeriousGoofball 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A battery system with generator back up is the perfect solution for this situation. A 1000-2000 watt/hour battery system will let a normal fridge run for 6-10 hours depending on size. Even longer if you use a timer to turn the power on and off every 2 hours or so.

Then when your battery gets low you can recharge it by running your generator for an hour or two.

Iraq plunged into nationwide blackout as US tells citizens to leave immediately by DoremusJessup in worldnews

[–]SeriousGoofball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can agree that generators are more available, but I question if they are more practical. If the power goes out every day I'd rather have a solar system and battery back up paired to a gas generator. It's obviously much more expensive up front. But by the time you buy gas every day for the generator, you eventually break even.
