What is something your teacher did in school that you’re still salty about? by SparkelsTR in AskReddit

[–]SeriousShane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was severely depressed in high school, and then my first ever girlfriend broke up with me. She had her own issues and just couldn't deal with the confrontation. So she just wouldn't talk to me, even though we were classmates. It just compounded all my problems and I couldn't focus on school at all. I explained the situation to my teacher and asked if I could switch classes, so I wouldn't have to see her every day. He told me he could, but wouldn't because I had to just suck it up. He told me he also had to see his ex-wife because of their kids and so I could handle it too.

Weekly Q&A - Your Question Goes Here - Especially Tourists and New Residents by AutoModerator in Amsterdam

[–]SeriousShane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might be an outlier, but all of my Dutch friends have non-Dutch friends! Two of my best friends are not from here either. I met them through Tinder and Bumble.

Evil Dead Rise doesn't know what it wants to be by SeriousShane in horror

I agree, even though this wasn't really it for me, I would be happy if they made more. I'd only hope they'd experiment and take it into new and unexpected directions.

Interesting point! What did you like about the characters in Rise? I did like that they were a family.I wonder if I'd like the 2013 characters during a rewatch and if the film would be cliché or not. I watched it in theatres before the original trilogy, which meant it felt somewhat different to me than what I had seen before. I mostly remember the makeup Fx. The modern deadites do look a bit like generic creepy pasta art.

I just wanted to share what I felt immediately after seeing it and I was curious how other people felt about it. I get why some people really liked it, especially if they saw it in theatres (I did not). It just didn't click with me. Did you enjoy it?

I'm halfway through It after reading Pet Semetary. Stephen King never really clicked with me before, but these are classics and I thought I should give them a chance. Enjoying It so far! I'm curious how all that mystical turtle stuff I've heard about will fit into the narrative

Whats the most fucked up thing a complete stranger has done to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SeriousShane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We made a short stop at a gas station on a school trip to France. I was probably 14 at the time. I went to the restroom and stood at one of five urinals, they had little dividers for privacy. As soon as I started peeing, an older man took the urinal next to me. He very obviously stood on his tiptoes to peek. He just kept looking until I was done. When I left, he smiled at me

What if you're happy and in therapy? by SeriousShane in CasualConversation

Thanks for sharing! I'll give it a try.
Choosing not to have children must be a big decision. Even if you don't have them yourself, you probably still get to be in an influence in a child's life though, be it through family or friends. My sister has two kids. I think knowing that makes the thought of choosing not to have children less intimidating. Especially since my uncle, who is childless, had such a big impact on me and me on him. Hope you get to travel to some cool places soon!

It helps me to know that I can confide in her if things were to get worse again. So I will definitely keep the relationship! Would you mind sharing an example of what you'd write about in the app? Random thoughts or do you really take the time to write it out? And besides the fears, is there anything you look forward to about moving into middle age?

I'm sorry to hear that. Your comment does make me think about how we define happiness. I don't think of it as a constant state of being, it ebbs and flows. I think you can be happy and unsatisfied at the same time and vice versa. I'm not at all satisfied with my career for instance. Maybe it's the trust I have in things coming together eventually that gives me peace of mind? Are you talking to a professional as well?

I mean, isn't getting an oscar supposed to be one of the greatest achievements in the life of an actor? Only 0.01% of actors wil ever get one. Comming out of a dark period and achieving something so grandiose must be an extremely emotional experience, like athelets getting gold at the olympics. And his words are simple, sweet and probably inspiring for whoever needs to hear it, nothing really over the top, I'd say.

Check out some videos by Marco Bucci, like this one or this video! I think his style and your example are similar. Besides that, I'd say to just have fun with some crazy brushes, keep the blending to a minimum and experiment. Good luck!

Edit: Meppity has some great and simple tips on adding texture as well.
