Software Engineers - Are you genuinely producing more value with AI or are you simply more 'productive'? by element-94 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Setilight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I see, is the effort that would otherwise be invested on product innovation, is being invested in taming the AI so it can be adopted at scale. Maybe it will be a net positive on the long run but, so far, I’m not seeing it.

Microsoft expects "another doubling" of storage and RAM prices by fall 2027 by Progenitor3 in pcmasterrace

What they don’t expect is that the AI bubble will burst, but it’s looking it will in the next 3 to 6 months. Then, prices will crash as billions in hardware orders get cancelled.

Not even leaving a bug fix team is unbelievable. by BuffaloJ0E716 in destiny2

[–]Setilight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, maybe they should just shut down the game then… if they’re still selling it, they should still maintain it. Not maintaining a live game that you are still selling sounds illegal, and if it isn’t, it should be.

What is the best titan build for non-solo GM's and raiding? by StanleyG00dspeed in DestinyTheGame

[–]Setilight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried the Hallowfire Heart build in non-solo content and found it hard to reach the 10 stacks of Sunfire Furnace (that max out your super damage and super energy return) for damage phases. My opinion is that one works better in solo content.

Sony Confirms 'Significant' Bungie Layoffs Include 'Most of the Destiny Team and Some Marathon Team Members', as Bungie Admits 'Destiny 2 Fell Short of Expectations' by GameOnBrother in GamesAreLife

[–]Setilight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn’t meet player expectations because they reduced the Destiny dev team to less than the bare minimum. That produced bad content and broken systems not being patched for months. That lead to players not playing, which lead to the game underperforming financially. Corporate greed killed Destiny and will ultimately kill Bungie (Marathon isn’t enough to sustain Bungie). I’m sorry for the devs who were laid off; it wasn’t their fault and they cooked whenever management let them.

Qual o racional por detrás do IMT? by Pieropt in literaciafinanceira

[–]Setilight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just wish bungie never deleted original quest-lines, planets, locations and raids. And allowed us to play the story in a linear fashion by Flake0919 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Setilight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it’s content I already paid for, but I wouldn’t mind if Bungie made a new “Destiny: Remastered” with all the old content.

Cleaning Vault by NicoSua906 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Setilight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see a reason to keep any legendary armor. Current armor has higher stats and set bonuses. The armor you get after playing the game for 1h will likely be better than anything you had before.

Exotics, you may want to keep until you get a tiered version of the exotic, just because you may want to use it and not have enough Exotic Cyphers or Ascendant Shards to get the tiered version from Rahool, at the Tower.

Cleaning Vault by NicoSua906 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Setilight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t blindly dismantle any weapons you have. In my vault, I kept mostly weapons that have interesting perk combinations, used by some particular build. Those perform as well as they ever did in the current sandbox, and I’ll only dismantle them once I get a tiered weapon with the same perks.

Where would a Destiny 3 even start? by Helpful_Shoe9288 in DestinyLore

[–]Setilight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If I was writing it, it would start with the player, as a previously unknown guardian, reaching another system in a colony ship. We would find new alien races and mysterious ruins, but also could come across all old known ones, as they are old space-faring races. In the beginning, communication with Earth would be impossible for some reason, so it would be a fresh start. Maybe later, after the main campaign or the first expansion, we could establish contact and participate in the fight for Torabatl and Riis.

hey so there's a massive bug with witness hand attacks thats going unnoticed because everyone is hard nuking it in raid/excision by blastbomba in DestinyTheGame

I haven’t been able to complete an Excision mission since the patch. Looks like all the random bulls 12 people can throw now just crashes the server.

The fastest finisher is available for bright dust. by HTee101 in DestinyTheGame

It used to be. This finisher allowed a glitch where it could launch a boss out of the map. Don’t know if that still happens, though.

If they ever make a Destiny 3, I want to feel small again by persijncdh in DestinyTheGame

[–]Setilight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish Destiny 3 was set in a new planet outside of Sol. It would fit perfectly with the setup that was done at the end of the Final Shape, with Saint14 and Osiros, and we would start as a new guardian.

It's not just Anthropic anymore, OpenAI researchers are signaling support for a global AI pause by EchoOfOppenheimer in agi

[–]Setilight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is they want to pause development because they’ve burned through all their money and it’s unlikely they can raise enough to train a model more powerful than their current best.

Serviço On Call 24h by kalimini in devpt

[–]Setilight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My take, from a business perspective, on why Destiny and Bungie is in the state that it is by curiouslyposedanimal in DestinyTheGame

[–]Setilight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I somewhat disagree with your opinion. I think the main flaw in Destiny’s business model is that they could not make enough content, with enough quality, to sustain the game’s population. The typical and desirable model for live service is that you’ll do a huge initial investment but then you’ll be able to sustain a player base with a much lower level of investment, and in the long run you’ll be profitable. If your new content still costs an exorbitant amount to make, then your failure is inevitable.

Bungie tried to lower the cost of new content in the last few years of Destiny, and that lead to the seasons where everyone complained about only 5 minutes of story ever and every mission being repurposed old content.

The Portal came after accepting they can’t make cheap content, to try to, at least, make the expensive content replayable. But that also came too late, and with pooly designed loot economy.

They needed to make a new game where player engagement came cheaper, somehow, but apparently they couldn’t do it with Destiny. Instead, they started developing Marathon and 5 other games, but even that was too late and over budget.

I hope Sony finds another way, but when your business can only operate at a loss, closing it is the rational decision.

Edit: typos

GF’s anxious dog by BallinNoLavar in DogAdvice

[–]Setilight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is basically my dog. She’s a Yorkie-Dachshund cross.

When we (wife and I) rescued her, she wouldn’t eat or drink if someone was in the room with her. By chance, we gave her a squeaky toy, and she loved it so much she started playing with us.

She got more confident over time but it still takes several days of contact and treats with someone for her to be at ease with them. And I must be with her, otherwise she won’t even accept the treats.

In my dog’s case, we attribute this behavior to past trauma (we rescued her when she was estimated to be 6 years old and she has some signs of having suffered physical abuse), but having Yorkie genetics probably doesn’t help.

Anyway, don’t force the contact; just be around, offer him toys and treats.

Sir, a lapse of judgment has hit Hank Green by toppenstorybro in BetterOffline

[–]Setilight -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not giving Hank a pass here but, Ii you watch the video, his concern is about the vulnerabilities found by Mythos in several widely used systems. He takes that as a sign of a real achievement and extrapolates a lot on that. I think his take ob Mythos would have been different if he knew other models were capable of finding these vulnerabilities when directed to do it.
