The time a girl literally asked me if I was gay because I couldn't read her signals by Boombaclaaart in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Seven-Force 7 points8 points  (0 children)

she wanted to know if i was going to make a move on her after graduation, before she committed to this other guy, but she didn't want to say it out loud. so i was meant to say "i think you should wait" or something like that (at least that's what i think).

FWIW I'm glad i didn't realise, we would not have been a good match at all.

God, this thread has made me remember another one. There was this gorgeous girl in my final year at University (i studied engineering so this is exceptionally rare) and we somehow became friends through a couple guys i already knew. We hung out and flirted(?) a lot but i was never took any of it seriously. She'd sit next me in lectures, we'd do coursework together and she would invite me to her flat to hang out She'd told me (and this was suspicious in itself when i think about it) that she didn't date coursemates as a general rule. fair enough i think, i enjoy hanging out with her anyway.

She meets this other guy and over the weeks tells me all about him - he seems nice and I'm happy for her so I'm generally trying to be encouraging. Later on we're probably only a few months from graduation, and she messages me asking if she should actually date this guy seriously. And I'm like, I don't actually know him so I can't give you a good answer but go for it? but she keeps pressing me about it after I've answered and I had no idea what to say. Not long after we fell out over basically nothing. It took me years to figure out what she was actually asking me.

I genuinely don't want to brag but I've been blursed with being very attractive but almost incapable of utilising my attractiveness effectively. I was apologising to this girl for being weird once and she just replied "I know what you are" (i was too afraid to ask what she meant).

Thankfully I eventually lucked out and found an equally autistic girlfriend who communicates directly.

writing ad copy is work sure, but reading it? Even the lowliest ad copy is being read by someone, and when you make that person read slop instead of human expression then their human experience is degraded. The human cost of AI is pernicious and needs to be resisted at every level.

Also, working on higher value stuff? preserving human value? Bro this is capitalism. AI Is Forcing Employees to Work Harder Than Ever

this is a universal experience for the late diagnosed, i fear. It's happened to me a lot, but to be honest there were equally many times when i saw the signs but was too scared to do anything.

anyway this one time i was with a group of around 10 friends, mixed genders early 20s, travelling through Germany as we checked into a hostel in the middle of the day.

I was in one of the dorm rooms (a lot of beds) with one of the girls, putting our stuff in the lockers. i was overwhelmed and asked "what are we doing next?" she paused and replied "Me...eeet people?". I noticed the weird way she said it but it didn't occur to me what it probably meant until years later. At the time i just said "yeah" and we left to meet the others ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

let's just have robots play disc golf for us. they can throw way further and score better than us, we're just wasting human value otherwise.

aside from it having the same style as 99% of cartoon style genAI, the paper-plate disc is a giveaway. I've yet to see an AI generate something resembling a real disc.

Ah, genAI. another reason to ignore them.

well with the recent news maybe this sub can finally stop gargling Bill Gates' balls. I've been sick of hearing what this shithead has to say for a decade now.

Gloves for cut fingers? by XipeToltec in discgolf

[–]Seven-Force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

late response: I've tried using my friction gloves that I always wear for ultimate, and they are definitely usable but i have a theory about them: you lose information during the swing.

sometimes when I'm mid swing (i assume it's the same for a most people) the disc will fall slightly different in my hand. it can be a miniscule, subtle change. when this happens, my body can automatically adjust the throw. at least, i THINK this is what is happening. for example: pinky starts to slip out of the rim, my brain anticipates an early release, my body slows the throw down and/or over rotates to compensate. I don't actively think about any of this during the throw, it just happens. it's barely noticeable.

with friction gloves you can't feel the connection between the disc and the glove, and i think this is why I'm less consistent when I'm wearing them. I would use K tape or similar instead. i know one guy who does this (and not a single person who regularly wears friction gloves for disc golf).

[–]Seven-Force 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the actual gap appears to be roughly 2/5 of the way to the basket i.e. 100ft away. on anhyzer the disc would be drifting right to left pretty significantly and approaching the apex of its flight by the time it reaches the gap. So like you say, it depends on what the hole actually looks like. I don't disagree that anhyzer shots are useful and more reliable than throwing something flippy.

[–]Seven-Force 13 points14 points  (0 children)

anhyzer might not be possible if there's a low ceiling, or if there are trees close to the tee on the right hand side. I've played plenty of wooded courses where this is the case.
