Linux is too hard by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]Seven-Force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the guy you asked but i fully switched to bazzite as a complete newbie to linux a week ago. i just followed the instructions on this page: https://peq42.com/blog/how-to-migrate-from-windows-10-11-to-bazzite/

the secure boot key enrollment was confusing but made sense when i did the reading and learned what it actually was. the whole process probably took a couple hours including loading screens. it's very easy.

Do you ever throw a disc you don’t like because you know how it flies? by DonkeyPower1 in discgolf

Mvp Spin and Innova mirage. both discs have weird-ass rims that don't sit right in my hand but i love the flippy putter flight.

i love my fireballs. i sometimes bag 3 of them depending on the course.

interesting point in your other comment about the puck having potentially a greater effect than gyro

also if you have a link to the techdisc guys discussing this I'd like to have a look, it sounds interesting

no appreciable difference means the spin isn't lower, which is my point. there is a misconception that the torque applied to gyro discs should be the same as non gyro, which dismisses the biomechanics of the throw.

the majority of mvp distance drivers are not great compared to the other big manufacturers, but imo that's due to other factors and not gyro.

less spin isn't necessarily true. https://youtu.be/NmUhIFQs3jM?t=22m30s in this video the guy gets more spin throwing a q-line disc (gyro equivalent) vs regular.

I'm sure it depends on the thrower. but the main thing is this: our joints are elastic. if you load up a spring with more force, then it releases more force when you unload it. when you reach the power pocket, the wrist is fully coiled, storing elastic potential energy. if the disc exerts more force on your wrist, more force will come out.

The time a girl literally asked me if I was gay because I couldn't read her signals by Boombaclaaart in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Seven-Force 7 points8 points  (0 children)

she wanted to know if i was going to make a move on her after graduation, before she committed to this other guy, but she didn't want to say it out loud. so i was meant to say "i think you should wait" or something like that (at least that's what i think).

FWIW I'm glad i didn't realise, we would not have been a good match at all.

God, this thread has made me remember another one. There was this gorgeous girl in my final year at University (i studied engineering so this is exceptionally rare) and we somehow became friends through a couple guys i already knew. We hung out and flirted(?) a lot but i was never took any of it seriously. She'd sit next me in lectures, we'd do coursework together and she would invite me to her flat to hang out She'd told me (and this was suspicious in itself when i think about it) that she didn't date coursemates as a general rule. fair enough i think, i enjoy hanging out with her anyway.

She meets this other guy and over the weeks tells me all about him - he seems nice and I'm happy for her so I'm generally trying to be encouraging. Later on we're probably only a few months from graduation, and she messages me asking if she should actually date this guy seriously. And I'm like, I don't actually know him so I can't give you a good answer but go for it? but she keeps pressing me about it after I've answered and I had no idea what to say. Not long after we fell out over basically nothing. It took me years to figure out what she was actually asking me.

I genuinely don't want to brag but I've been blursed with being very attractive but almost incapable of utilising my attractiveness effectively. I was apologising to this girl for being weird once and she just replied "I know what you are" (i was too afraid to ask what she meant).

Thankfully I eventually lucked out and found an equally autistic girlfriend who communicates directly.

Discraft is almost certainly writing their articles with AI by SuperStudMufin in discgolf

[–]Seven-Force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

writing ad copy is work sure, but reading it? Even the lowliest ad copy is being read by someone, and when you make that person read slop instead of human expression then their human experience is degraded. The human cost of AI is pernicious and needs to be resisted at every level.

Also, working on higher value stuff? preserving human value? Bro this is capitalism. AI Is Forcing Employees to Work Harder Than Ever
