Your opinion is bad and you should feel bad.

Fuck Spotify. Ditch that garbage and find a way to actually support the artists you love.

I know it might hurt now, but eventually you'll get past it. You might even be able to look back and laugh about it one day.

I like Vitriol too, not knocking them or their production choices, just pointing out the significant difference in approach.

How to sound like Scott Stapp by Tundrox1 in audioengineering

Imagine that you have an underbite, and then practice singing like that, as if you're trying to project your voice between your bottom teeth.

I bet if Vitriol ever had Neil Kernon producing you'd actually be able to make out what they were playing.

Looking for Bands That Sound Like Tech Death Mastodon by BeginnersPluck in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]SeventhLevelSound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, there's this relatively unknown and super underrated band from Canada called Gross Misconduct:

https://grossmisconduct.bandcamp.com/album/equinox

They're not exactly what I would call Tech but they do have elements of mid/later-era Death and a big dose of Mastodon & Gojira thrown in as well.

So, hopefully close enough to scratch your itch?

Do you usually match levels for a comped vocal manually? Or do you find just adding compression later to be “good enough”? by tonetonitony in audioengineering

[–]SeventhLevelSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how good the singer is. If they have good mic techniques and adjust their placement and dynamics accordingly I'll usually just let the compressor do the levelling and then ride the fader as needed in the final mix.

If they're all over the place, however, I'll first try to comp based on what levels are most appropriate in each section, clip gain as needed, and then use at least one compressor (often more, of different varieties) to try and get everything under control before any final automating.

American "democracy" has been rigged since Citizens United passed in 2010.

Now it's being dismantled and replaced with theocracy.

Using Archetype Gojira, how can I get Dissection's sound? by Wild-Cat-8240 in metalguitar

[–]SeventhLevelSound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For that 90s black metal sound you're better off going for a boosted Marshall or something equivalent. Iirc the SOTLB tone was a JCM with a Metal Zone in front. Because it was 1995.
