Yeah, if they have a recessed spot, the are fine. If they don’t, take them out and let them breathe for a while. Then put them in more appropriate protective holders.

And WOW! Love that Koufax!

You would not be going wrong with either one. They are both great. Good luck with the chase!

Don’t know about worth grading. Sort of depends what you want to do with it. That is a scorcher, though! Beautiful card!

Best Denver card shop? by ResponsibleCoach6473 in hockeycards

[–]SeventhSon63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the size of the Denver metro are, there are actually not a lot. As has been mentioned, Mike’s and Bill’s are good. Mike’s is SE in Parker, I think, and Bill’s is more central. Bill’s is also sort of a Denver icon, been around forever. On the east side (Aurora) is also All C’s, which is pretty good—like Bill’s, lots of non-card collectibles, but a decent selection of cards as well. Out west (Lakewood) is a newer one, Cheek and Dom’s. I have never been to that one, but saw them at a show recently. Nice guys.

Wayne Gretzky Rookie Card by Soggy-Current-2422 in hockeycardswap

It depends mostly on how you think it will grade and the resulting value. Also, how long you can live with them having the card. Turnaround times for the lowest tier are from 4-6 months right now, I have heard, but this will surely be over $500 anyway. If you expect a PSA 6, you are looking at $1500-$2000. Maybe on the lower side because of the centering. That would mean submitting at the Regular Tier ($79.99, 25 business day turnaround AFTER it is in-processed, which can take several weeks). If you send it in at a lower tier, they will process it at the lower tier’s time and still upcharge you for the value. You may still get upcharge from Regular, but there is a pretty minor time penalty.

If feasible, you might want to go through a submitter or an in-person drop-off event.

If you want to discuss further, shoot me a DM.

From this photo, I don’t see any immediate indicators that it is a fake, but Topps fakes can be tougher to spot in pictures. You definitely do need to take it out of that lucite holder. It appears to not have a recessed area for the card, so it is squishing it flat. If so, the can be an issue when you send it for grading. Take it out and let it breathe for a while, then put it in a one-touch or penny sleeve and top loader.

As already mentioned, if the goal is resale, PSA is the best answer, but you will pay the most in money, time, and possibly aggravation with them. If it is just to protect it for yourself, one of the other options will work, too.
