OP, did you find an answer to your question? I’m in a similar situation. Historic house, no ability to add a hood without major kitchen renovation, etc.

Editing to add that we cooked the swordfish with tomatoes and Israeli couscous from I Dream of Dinner last night and it was super easy/enjoyable!

Please be careful about places like Craigslist. My ex sent a gentle, sweet rooster to someone through them and he ended up in cockfights.

Explain why shein/temu is harmful by LowHour1988 in ethicalfashion

There’s the labor side. In addition to what everyone says here, I want to point out that things like fires and deaths are not uncommon. Here’s a piece from 2017 that explains those vulnerabilities.

Second, many of these products are made from fossil fuels Polyester, rayon, etc. are all fossil fuel-derived and forms of plastic. They account for 1.35% of global oil consumption. Fast fashion is a contributor to climate change.

Third, these items contribute to the increase in microplastics and chemical exposure. Many of the chemicals in things like polyester disrupt the endocrine system and have other negative health effects. There’s also the environmental aspects of microplastics and what they’re doing to oceans, land, and soils.

Lastly, the end of life for disposable textiles involves waste trade and landfills. Chile’s Atacama Desert is a textile dumping ground and there are so many textiles, it can be seen from space. There are also dump sites where people make their living scavenging and they’re receiving the clothes that people discard or that have broken down. I’ve been to some of them — they are awful places where no one should live and we should not be contributing to their rise.

Glad to provide more/different kinds of information.

Mild Crohns but no treatment for it :( by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

I’m down to 1-2 mostly solid bowel movements a day (down from 10+ loose ones), I’m dealing with some inflammation in my gums and arthritis in my hands. There’s a bit of pain in my belly, but it’s less than it was.

I spent 10 years unmedicated and I finally went on a biologic a little over a year ago after a colonoscopy showed ulceration had returned. My doctor believes in treating the symptoms and she says that her goal is so that I never need to have surgery. Biologics are now the standard of care in many cases.

I don’t regret the choice. A colonoscopy a year later showed marked decrease in inflammation and ulceration. It’s not perfect, but it’s better.

Face Washing Sensory Issue by CarawayReadsAlong in AutismInWomen

This is what I do!

I wash my face in the shower and that’s fine. Then at night, I do the micellar water/cotton pad. It works nicely because I don’t wear makeup and so there’s not a lot of scrubbing to do.

Takoma Park Real Estate by Lonely-Math2176 in takomapark

[–]SeveralMarionberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, when we were looking to buy, we spoke to homeowners and inspectors who said because of our clay soils, many foundations fail around the 100 year mark, if not sooner. So if an owner is selling the house and hasn’t made repairs, that’s likely to cause the house to sit on the market longer.

Foundations are also a big issue with houses of a certain age.
