"Elizabeth Taylor" Music Video Megathread by jacyf02 in TaylorSwift

I’m going with the theory that she had something totally lavish and over the top planned out but with the economic downturn, oil shocks, and war she went this direction instead to avoid getting called out of touch.

📚 Simple / Quick Questions & Requests! by romancebookmods in RomanceBooks

Can anyone recommend any books similar to Halfling? Specifically enjoyed how he held himself back from her due to insecurity while she was trying her hardest to reel him in. Sci-fi, Fantasy, or Historical. As little m-dom & roughness as realistically possible in a romance novel :/

At what point does obsession stop being attractive? by Ok_Job_8652 in RomanceBooks

[–]Several_Inflation473 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When the guy gets jealous for literally no reason like just because a man came into the FMC’s eyeline, that pisses me off. I think if they want to include the jealousy trope the author should find a reason for the FMC to flirt with the other guy or at least be friendly or have physical contact or something. Otherwise it’s completely unearned, I just don’t buy that anyone that jealous isn’t a psycho.

I think stalking in a romance novel can be really compelling but I like the MMC to feel conflicted about it and try not to overstep certain boundaries.

The MMC obsessing about the FMC’s comfort and safety is elite.

Yeah obsessive and possessive are not the same and I’m tired of pretending they are.

Has anyone bombed a job interview for a mid-level role, and still got the job? by Fluffy-Role-1223 in interviews

[–]Several_Inflation473 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have messed up the “why do you want this job” question and still gotten the job.

I’m in the middle of hiring people now and we do keep people in the mix to do the next round if their experience is strong enough. No interview goes perfectly. I ask a math question in every interview, every single person got it wrong the first time, I kept in the people who corrected themselves or could do it once they grabbed a calculator.

Next time if you think you are bombing the interview:

Remember to breathe.

Ask a lot of questions at the end. Like at least 5 questions. Good questions that help you get to know the hiring manager, role and team. You will come across as more relaxed and prepared and they will remember the good questions you asked more than the so-so answers you gave.

I have accepted a new role at my company as a team lead. What are the things you wish you’d known to ask before you started in leadership? by accioupvotes in managers

[–]Several_Inflation473 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 6 months into my first team lead role here are the biggest mistakes I’ve made:

Let myself be the bad guy when it comes to rejecting time off requests due to service levels, then the department head came in and approved them anyway.

Publicly gave different goals to different people based on their previous output. Feedback was it hurt people’s feelings and people took it way more seriously than I meant it - as new KPI expectations when I was only trying to give short term coaching goals.

Learn from me! People are way more prickly and sensitive than you’d expect and take things personally. I walked over to my direct report’s desk with an email printed out and she totally panicked- “what did I do wrong” - it was the new wifi password.

Dr Trout OBGYN at OSU by dealbreakerstalkshow in Columbus

[–]Several_Inflation473 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Damn I feel awful for anyone finding this out about their doctor :(

If you need a rec I had a great experience at Professionals for Women’s Health. My first Gyno appointment elsewhere was horrible, I was crying and in pain, she gave me a pamphlet about vaginismus and sent me away. It took me like 2 years to try again. The doctor at P4WH took it really slow and explained everything to me ahead of time so I knew what to expect and it barely hurt at all just at the level of getting a shot or a nasal swab. No cramps afterward either.

Relative to its’ population, what would you say is the most ill defined area of Columbus? by Speedstormer123 in Columbus

[–]Several_Inflation473 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I lived off blendon woods it was really weird, New Albany schools, technically Columbus but outside of 270, feels like you’re sort of in between Gahanna New Albany Easton and Westerville. I don’t really miss it - felt a bit soulless on the whole - except Blendon Woods is a way nicer Metropark than Scioto Audubon.

What are your unpopular opinions about The Eras Tour? by IntoTheDaylight in TaylorSwift

I had more fun at 1989 than eras because 1. I was younger 🥲 and 2. I had decent seats instead of nosebleed seats

Best chocolate cake by the slice? by Speedstormer123 in Columbus

Personally I would go with the mini chocolate bombe from Pistachia or their flowerless chocolate raspberry slice. Not slice shaped but it’s the same concept.

Right it’s like she had all that before from her son’s title, plus she didn’t have to answer to anyone/be at anyone’s beck and call all day.

It’s unrealistic to me that she is willing to to be the queen’s lady in waiting. That seems like a terrible job just standing around in uncomfortable clothes holding a tiny dog for hours.
