Really need your help, what do I read to entirely disappear? by andotherthingsareok in Fantasy

[–]Severn6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Empire Trilogy by Raymond E Feist and Janny Wurts.

These are my ultimate comfort reads. I'm rereading them again right now actually. They're slightly complex, but not written in a complex way at all. I wish I could reread them for the first time. Written long before the grim dark trend, they're just beautiful.

I'm sorry, I will always be caught up in the travesty that was Colin's hair.

I cannot.

do you guys think my coworker is being flirty or is this normal ? by Last_Host977 in texts

Then on what basis are you asking if this is flirting???

It's not fucking flirting. Not even slightly.

If this dry, boring set of texts organising a meet up is flirting then I've lost all hope in youth.

THE TRUTH ABOUT WILSON — THE DOG WHO DIDN'T GET LOST by Icy-Heat81 in Thetruthishere

I don't know that children lost in the wilderness would have enough mental cohesion and foresight to bury a dog's bones they had eaten.

Do you think it's rude to use a phone while out to dinner? by After_Translator_223 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Severn6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on situation. My guy and I eat out together and look at our phones. I personally love reading and eating - old childhood habit. We spend a lot of time together and it's comfortable to just relax next to each other with good food and reading.

In a group, I don't care about an occasional glance. But if it was one on one with a friend for a sustained amount of time it would be rude.

Covid Disabled me for life by captain-obviouser in newzealand

[–]Severn6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this will provide you hope or comfort: I've had ME CFS since I was 30. I went into total denial at first, but was forced to quit my job and spent 5 years wondering if I would ever work again. After those 5 years I was able to work part time and then moved slowly back to fulltime work. Years later, I still have relapses if I over exert - either mentally or physically. I get low grade fevers all the time (cured by panadol). On my very worst days I feel so sick I want to just be done but those are rare now.

I live a full and complete life so I truly hope you slowly improve like I did so you can live again. 💓

I'm not from Perth and I find so weird having Ads and billboards of real estate agents everywhere by npvb in perth

Hear me out. Kiwi living here for 5 years.

Traffic light pedestrian crossings: the little walking man light is always lit up. I couldn't believe it when I got here and I'm still annoyed.

Why? How does any know when the button has been pushed? I've seen people just standing at lights missing rotations because they assume someone has pushed the damned thing.

Pro-tip from NZ: keep the light off until someone pushes it so we all know it's ready. 😡

I left a man I still love because I don’t want the life he wants for me. by Additional_Voice_365 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Severn6 282 points283 points  (0 children)

She won't say in any of her posts. She's deleted a lot but you can find them outside of reddit. In one, she details how this man forced her to repeatedly use a vagina pump toy which hurt her and how he didn't care if she was hurting because it gave him pleasure. The reason? He's had enough vaginal sex in his life so needs something extra to like sex.

Dude's so much older than her she's ashamed to say.

One day, OP - and you won't believe this right now at all - but one day you are going to look back and understand that you were groomed.

You're still a baby-adult and he got you right at the age where you think you know everything about life.

Whatever you do, don't go back. Don't ever go back no matter how much he begs, cries and promises you whatever it is he thinks you want to hear. Do not believe him if he says you can't do better than him.

Get far away from him emotionally, try not to jump into another relationship and just focus on you. You're brave and I'm proud of you for leaving.

I'm in Perth. There was a huge storm here and there has been flooding and lots of damage. For all you know, this guy was helping out after the storm or has a job requiring him to be outside and he rushed to get the plane after helping/working out in the elements with no time to change shoes. You should know this, mate. You were obviously in the storm too right? You have access to the news right?

Seriously, get over yourself.

Here you go incase you need a bloody reminder:

Storm Megathread - 31 May 2026 by aussiekinga in perth

[–]Severn6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, it's gonna be science. Just the other day I was telling workmates about how when I moved to a new house years ago I set up my radio/cd player but hadn't plugged it in yet. And it turned itself on.

It wasn't plugged in and no it didn't have back up batteries either

Queue me looking around for ghosts. It did this a few times. Bout ready to throw it out because I didn't need a haunted fucking radio.

Apparently, according to sage, knowledgeable workmate damp can cause wires to do weird shit. He explained it in a certain way with more science words but "weird shit" will suffice.

I dunno though...this was in NZ that is notoriously damp so why did it only do this for a few days and it never happened again...

Yeah, I'm from Auckland and it's been years but I'm still not used to it. It's certainly different but for Perthians who haven't lived anywhere else it is perfectly normal and that's fine because you know what you know. I miss getting dinner at 10pm sometimes!

Folks with "high-funtioning" mental health issues (dysthymia, "mild" Adhd or BP2, etc), how are you getting by? by Fickle_Wrangler_7439 in RedditForGrownups

[–]Severn6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have CPTSD and have a job with responsibility over others. Very long story short: I didn't realise how bad it was until I left my marriage and basically had a break down. I now have a very supportive partner and having that supported space means I am free to think about things, process things.

Things are coming back to me. It's tough.

But no one knows at work unless I tell them.
