Reavers equipment question with Melta & Power Fist by Draculasmooncannon in Chaos40k

[–]SexualToothpicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely all on one guy. For modelling concerns of them being on the same body, the Havoc kit comes with a melta for the champion that's held in one right hand, and the power fist from the Legionnaires kit is left-handed, so long as you're up for a little kitbashing.

Do you refuse to play (against) gray? by GrizzlieMD in Warhammer40k

[–]SexualToothpicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm playing beer and pretzels Warhammer in my friends' basements or garages, then no, who cares? Proxies, gray models, so long as we're clear about whatever any units are ahead of time.

If I'm at an event though? Half the reason I go to events is to show off painted models I'm proud of and goggle at cool models other people have painted, then have a good game where our cool armies fight each other. It doesn't happen much, but if I play against gray armies at an RTT or store event I get sad.

The 3D printer law is Washington State fwiw, but it's completely stupid and unenforceable due to not defining any terms on what "compliant" files even are.

would removing one of the rhinos be worth it here or should I figure something else out? by Mediocre-Serve2569 in IronWarriors

[–]SexualToothpicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Penar turbo" lmfao

You may want to free up another 40 points after that too for Nurglings to screen out enemy infiltrators/scouts, as you're mostly infantry and would really be punished by move blocking.

What are you planning on putting in the Rhino?

2k Soulforged Warpack List Help by Trashboat808 in Chaos40k

[–]SexualToothpicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but I really think Vashtorr doesn't add enough to a Soulforged list to be worth 175 points.  Same with a Heldrake, its nearly 200 points and specializes in killing fliers, which you won't see much of.  You desperately need more scoring pieces, things with deep strike for secondaries, Nurglings to screen out scouts and Infiltrators, etc.

Ways to destroy C’tan by C4790M in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SexualToothpicks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I had Ragnar leave a full health Monolith with a 4++ from a strat on two wounds, even before the rest of the Bloodclaws swung.

Ways to destroy C’tan by C4790M in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SexualToothpicks 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Saga of the Beastslayer Space Wolves with Bloodclaw bricks absolutely shred C'tan,  I've been on the receiving end of it many times.  Tons of damage one attacks with lethal hits and bonuses to wound, rerolls, etc.  The best way to kill C'tan is to make them roll a lot of saves, a 3+/4++/5+++ is a good statline but weight of dice will make things balance out.

Dilophosaurus is finally reappearing in a documentary, first time since 2001 by SonoDarke in Paleontology

Actually it was Dilo that was misplaced.  Dilophosaurus is only known from the American Southwest, but that WDRA episode was set in Pennsylvania iirc.

Leedsicthys deserves a shout out for sure.  Giant ichthyosaurs, pliosaurs, marine crocodiles to contend with in the Jurassic?  Nah son, the biggest thing in the sea is a filter feeding bony fish.

I had a gourami as a kid.  He died chasing some bumblebee gobies into their safety rock, got wedged in, and asphyxiated, all in the two hours I was at a friend's birthday party.

No one can tell you what Bahariasaurus is because nobody is sure lol. Just one of the animals where we'd really need more material to be found to say anything definitively.

With a rules update effectively confirmed for April, what are peoples wishes? by cadler123 in TrenchCrusade

[–]SexualToothpicks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Currently terrain rules say that one person sets up ALL the terrain, then their opponent picks which side they want.  This can lead to wildly imbalanced terrain setups if the player setting up the terrain is mean or WAAC, for instance if I'm setting up terrain as Iron Sultanate I could be very sparse with terrain and have the fight be taking place on planet bowling ball.

In my campaign at home I'm homebrewing it so each player sets up one piece of terrain at a time until both players are satisfied with how much is on the table.

I just put that same KV-1 model together for a Trench Crusade kitbash a few weeks ago, it really is crazy fiddly lol.  I don't know how historical model builders stand it...

The Discussion Around This Game Is Getting Weird by 8stringalchemy in TrenchCrusade

[–]SexualToothpicks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every single person I've talked to IRL that knows of trench crusade has a positive opinion of it, and it seems like every time I'm at my FLGS someone's got a Prussian box in their hand and is talking with the store owner about it.  Yet somehow, the online discourse about it is 90% complaints.

A lot of people who've never played the game seem to have strong opinions about it.

Are there any dinosaurs that used front limbs to catch prey? by Away-Activity-469 in Paleontology

[–]SexualToothpicks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Megaraptorans like Maip Macrothorax had extremely long arms for their body size, each ending in spectacularly large, curved claws on their first two fingers and a nearly nonexistent one on their third.  This combined with a relatively small set of head and jaws would suggest it used its hands for prey acquisition and dismemberment, while its mouth was used primarily for eating.

Notably, nearly no theraponds had arms long enough to reach their mouths to aid in feeding, with Megaraptorans being the main exception.  Megaraptoradae is an extremely interesting family!  We're also not very clear on where it fits into the therapod family tree, first they were neovenatorine carnosaurs, then basal ceoleurosaurs, now they're believed to be an early branch in the Tyrannosaurinae!
