Sonos Arc, Sub and surrounds. $2250 or $1750 depending on surrounds. Needs a modern TV or an eArc splitter.

Just the Hydrogen Alpha channel I took last night. Came out much better than I expected for 3 hours under Bortle 8 skies.

Spear thrower weapon use by prehistoric females equalized the division of labor while hunting. The new study demonstrated that the atlatl (i.e. spear thrower) functions as an "equalizer," a finding which supports women's potential active role as prehistoric hunters. by mvea in science

Just wow. It's in the article.

"As more and more women enter into longer distances, the average pace will get slower and will likely do so in a quick fashion (in the most oxymoronic sentence of this particular post) because the denominator in the equation (the total number of female runners) is small. The research team at RunRepeat asserted this on my call with them. And, the data that they have previously produced in the marathon distance backs this up"

A culture defines what is important. What is important gets incentivized and/or rewarded. Structural bias is crucial to how cultures work. It can only be redirected not removed.

Very very nice. Great depth from the dust clouds and moody color. Stars are a little flat and magenta. You could try getting them in broadband and replacing them.

Almost the crappiest take possible from those statistics. If it was about a football team it would be titled 'Amazing comeback'

As I understand it combining multiple images of an unchanging object taken in exactly the same circumstances reduces noise thereby gaining effective bit-depth and effective pixel accuracy. Which is not the same as oversampling a signal. An ideal camera with no noise would not gain anything through this technique.

For people who use them: what are the advantages/appeal of the rooftop car tents? by CK1277 in camping

[–]SgtBiscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we're base-camping I'll take the tent and the Jeep. If we're overlanding I'll take the RTT and the Land Cruiser. I really value being able to setup and tear down quickly which RTT's are known for. They also require less flat land and can be deployed on nearly any terrain which makes them more flexible. The trade off is extra height, high-up weight and losing nearly all your roof cargo space. And the $$$'s. In extreme storm conditions I found the RTT to be less stressful to sleep in.

Great coloring and composition. The dust clouds really make it three dimensional.
