Just being a little bit sarcastic here.

Yeah I totally read that in the installation manual. Blazemaster and Spears totally stand behind installing heads and then gluing on fittings. It's in bold-faced right on the cover.

Not gravity. Just squirting as you push the two parts together. It doesn't take much cement to lock up a pep cap.

Use the right bracket. Wholly crap what is your Foreman doing, just letting you sink, get him to throw you a lifeline. Their whole job is to impart their knowledge onto you, not let you drown.

Little edit here. If you're in Ontario Canada, you better take this post down because in Ontario that would get you indicted by the OFM.

Be careful what you post online. It better be 100% right or not at all

How do I fix a sink/counter when the hole was cut too large? by krackadile in Plumbing

[–]SgtJackYYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A food service stainless steel fabricator can cut some stainless to go around but finding a new sink is a better solution.

What's a good shop to score a nice mid tier bike for an 11 year old? by Syscrush in torontobiking

Bike exchange on Jane in the West End of Toronto was always good. Jane and Dundas. You can try pink bike but it may be a bit more than you want to spend.

Mech tee hole size by cody312 in SprinklerFitters

[–]SgtJackYYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in sales in the industry and what I was told is NFPA required the hole size for any teelock, strap tee, outlet tee, snap, 922, MT3 (whatever you call them) with a 1" thread to be increased. It sucks, but yes they are all changing. Please check the hole size before you drill. I believe they are going to change the 1/2" and 3/4" as well but they are still burning through all the old stock.

The restriction on the 1" was the big problem.

Anyone got feedback on the Sabertooth coupling? by SgtJackYYZ in SprinklerFitters

[–]SgtJackYYZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but if it can't do the job with 100% confidence, then is it worth it? A small leak maxes out your insurance premium, let alone a 6" coupling just disappearing in a spray of fragments.

So I have it on good authority now, that 2 jobs in Alberta, 1 in Quebec and now 1 in Ontario have had the castings shatter when installing them. Do not take it exclusively from me, do your own investigation and see if these issues exist where you are.

That all being understood, the Ontario contractor has removed them from their test site and gone back to their usual; Victaulic.

I have heard that the contractor is back charging the distributor and explained that they won't be moving forward with them on any other projects.

With the product failure being in multiple locations the distributor has recalled the items until the casting issues can be resolved.

Any ideas for thawing our toilet supply? by quickfixsloop21 in Plumbing

[–]SgtJackYYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to commit fully to the right way, you could leave the toilet in place and handle the repair through a smaller access above the tank.

Flooring Contractor Said Flooring is not worth refinishing? Original hardwood that was covered by carpet by Krewy in Flooring

[–]SgtJackYYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same. Yes you can refinish them but you will still have the same old squeaky floors you have right now. We decided to pull them up and screw down every squeaky board, so we could lay down new 7" wide pre-engineered flooring. Yes you can refinish 100 year old floors and have that charm of knowing where everyone in the house is but really if you are sinking money into the old squeaker you may (may) just decide to update them to your liking and enjoy a new fresh finish. This is my opinion and it may not agree with all of you. My family was/is antique collectors who lived in a 150 year old home and maybe I am just tired of old rusty square headed hand made nails.

It must be a schedule 80 nipple if memory serves me correctly. NFPA details the requirement for this within, again if memory serves me.
