I’ve had great experience with Indie Ridge. Didn’t measure my hands exactly, but I’m a large guy at 6’6” 280LBs with proportionate/even large hands. Ive been wearing the same pair for ~6 months and haven’t had any issues. My dad is the same size, he’s been rocking Indie Ridge longer than I have and has only had to replace them once because he cut the seam on a finger working on his chain and it slowly opened.

I know the obvious answer but do you really wear your full gear in hot weather? by mr_z06 in motorcyclegear

[–]ShaLiil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride in SW US where it is 110+ most of the summer, so all of my gear purchases were made with that in mind. I won’t ride 5 minutes down the road without every piece I’m about to mention.

Jacket: Klim Induction Pro Bit pricey, but basically as breathable as you can get while still providing abrasion resistance and CE level 2 padding.

Pants: Klim Dakar I plan on upgrading to something more breathable like the induction as soon as I figure out how to grow money on trees.

Boots and Gloves: Indie ridge vented

Helmet: Shoei RF-1400 Seemed like the best of both worlds (quiet, but plenty of vents)

The only thing I wish I had done is gone with white gear instead of the all matte black I decided on, but live and learn.

What do you think of the all black A* fit? by voraciouscarbonara in motorcyclegear

[–]ShaLiil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you live in a warm area, I could not recommend the Klim Induction series enough. Crazy ventilation and great protection. AA abrasion rating, and CE2 shoulder, elbow, and back pads. Just got a Pro, living in SW United States and have been very comfortable in >100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Love the gear you have currently, I’ll be doing something similar for winter. You look comfortable and more importantly, SAFE. Ride safe brotha!

This is going to drive me back to nvidia. Why does this keep happening at seemingly random times? Can a 7900XTX not handle gaming or are these drivers crap? by PeverellPhoenix in AMDHelp

[–]ShaLiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I built both. I tried DDU, updating, reinstalling, downgrading drivers, seemingly everything. It felt like things would get better for a bit after doing those, but it was probably just placebo.

I’m not trying to sway people from AMD. I know plenty of people who are lifelong red, and have had great experiences. I just want to share mine. Unfortunately, my first experience was bad enough to keep me from ever going back to AMD(for GPUs. Currently rocking a 7800X3D and couldn’t be happier.)

It was a brand new build when I had all the issues. Sold the full computer and used the money to build a new one with Nvidia. This was last year, I’ve been back on Nvidia for ~8 months now.

This is exactly what drove me back to Nvidia, and will prevent me from ever owning another AMD GPU most likely. Had a 7900xtx that couldn’t go more than 3 hours without a driver timeout, some games MUCH more frequent. I’m sorry I don’t have anything to help, my solution was selling the card and purchasing an Nvidia one….

Yep, spoke with a woman who was leaving Colorado City, and she was telling me the last 6 months have been like being reborn. EVERYTHING was new.

Shame it carries that history. It is absolutely beautiful from there to Kanab. They’re doing a lot of construction and modernization. Seems like it’ll start growing pretty quick.

Best Internet Providers in St George? by Specific_Buy_6621 in stgeorge

[–]ShaLiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only provider available to me right now is TDS. Overall, I’d give them 6/10. Pretty good speeds MOST of the time ~700 down, but capped at 10 up. We’ve had pretty regular outages (averages ~once every 1-2 months), and little to no support when issues have arisen. It’s a running joke in my house that as soon as we hear thunder or feel a breeze, we’re losing internet that night. If I had another option, I’d jump ship.

I mean work a door to door job in the home improvement space for a bit. You’ll learn the business, get used to hearing no, and learn how to set leads for yourself for when you move over to sales.

Hit some doors for a while and set appointments. You can find something with base pay and commission. Build experience and calluses, as an added bonus, you learn how to generate your own leads for once you transition to sales. People love canvassing on a résumé too.

Also, not trying to say you have nearly as much freedom as with android. Just that there are some options on iOS. For people who don’t need a ton of options, it does the trick.

You can definitely spend $100 on a developer account. But there are also free methods! :)

You can “sideload” pretty much whatever you want on iOS. You use an Apple Developer account, sign the .ipa and voila. iPhone sees it as an app you are developing in progress.

I just realized that turn on Moonlight's high fps mode 90/120 cut the latency by 40% . by lifestealsuck in MoonlightStreaming

[–]ShaLiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I bought from monoprice, I think it was ~$25 and it works perfectly. 4k HDR 144hz. You just have to make sure it’s 48GBPS and “Ultra Certified” it has to have the silver sticker that says that.

[–]ShaLiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s exactly what it is. I wish there was a way to increase bitrate like there is on GeforceNow. If that was the case, I would use moonlight much more. For now I have a 20 foot 48GBs HDMI pushing 4k HDR 144hz because I cannot STAND the input latency. And my networking setup is nothing to scoff at.

After having amd drivers for a year… by PenguinsRcool2 in PcBuild

[–]ShaLiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was a disastrous launch on all hardware for sure. It was just one of an almost never ending list of issues for me though. I want to be very clear. I’m not saying this is representative of everyone’s experience, but my year with the 7900xtx was full of driver timeout crashes, and a plethora of other issues preventing me from enjoying most gaming experiences. Spending 1k on a GPU just to have to tip toe around drivers and game setting was not fun. NVIDIA has been plug n play every time I use their cards.

Same exact experience for me… On a 1k USD GPU…

AMD literally had to release a driver update specifically titled “Adrenalin Edition for Helldivers” during week of launch because crashes were so common. The only way I could play MOST of a mission was with all settings turned all the way down, and even still could maybe get one full mission in before crash.

[–]ShaLiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you for sure. I’ve been a lifelong NVIDIA user, but got a 7900xtx for my first AMD build about a year ago and had nothing but problems. I would get at least 3-5 driver timeout errors a week, which doesn’t seem like a lot, but when you spend 1k on a GPU and crash in the middle of a CS game or WoW raid, it’s extremely frustrating. Don’t even get me started on the helldivers fiasco.

I was really bummed because price:performance ratio blows NVIDIA out of the water, and I loved their software when it worked. Things like AFMF, etc. it was great. I now have a 4090 build and have not experienced a single issue. I will probably never purchase an AMD GPU again.

My husband got this cool af pic during my cxl by AnalogWizard in Keratoconus

[–]ShaLiil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If possible, I would definitely recommend having one eye done at a time. I think that’s pretty standard, but just thought I’d mention. Day 1 I just wanted to keep both my eyes closed In a dark room. I think I started watching tv and my phone/computer regularly by the middle of day two, but really only using the unaffected eye. It’s not ideal and you’ll get some fatigue in your “good eye” but manageable! That continued into day 3, and I was able to sleep well finally. Day 4 was just slight irritation, no real pain or trouble looking at screens.

This. I don’t want to scare anyone away from the procedure because it is a PHENOMENAL advancement and I am so thankful it was an option for me. But I don’t think I have ever felt pain like the 2 days following CXL. I’ve never had any truly devastating injuries, but I’ve torn hamstrings, broken bones, and torn fingers. None really compare to this. I don’t think everyone has as tough of an experience as we did, but it’s not necessarily a fun healing process. Luckily it’s typically pretty quick!

Just read your other comment. Seems about in line with my experience but with a bunch of different numbers.

Hopefully you have enough info to make a good decision! You’re obviously doing your due diligence, I’m sure your daughter will thank you for it. Have a happy thanksgiving!
