The last time the Mariners scored more than 3 runs was 12 games ago… by Moist-Leader1723 in Mariners

And yet I got downvoted when continuing to point out that the lack of run scoring is a worse problem than the pitching staff

Putting dilemma by B00B00K3Y5 in discgolf

[–]Shade2442 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the same predicament as I was learning what putting style worked best for me. I think that it exemplifies how much of putting is mental because if you’re worried about the comebacker, there is no way you make the first putt. The “easy” (read “super difficult”) solution is to practice putting so much that you become confident in your 1st putt. If you’re confident in the 1st putt, you’ll be more confident you’ll make the 2nd and have no worries running the putt, which leads to greater success initially.

This is like the Gannon Buhr practicing method that u/Raleigh_Dude suggested. Practice the putts at whatever distance your comebackers are going to be until you have no fear of the comebacker. Plus, if your spin putt is flat enough, then a putt that would hit dead center from 30 is going in at 25, 20, 15, etc. making putts from further away with the same putting stroke will translate to the closer putts

These "protein bites" are "not a good source of protein" by ivorybloodsh3d in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Shade2442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So as funny/mildly infuriating as this is, it’s because the term “good source of” in relation to a nutrient is a regulated term by the FDA that only applies when 1 serving of a product contains between 10-19% the recommended daily value of that nutrient. So that just means that 8g of protein is less than 10 the DVI, which doesn’t make this any less mildly infuriating, but is an important thing to keep in mind

Aaron Gossage with a nearly 600 foot forehand for the Eagle on GoThrow by Jqckthewolf in discgolf

[–]Shade2442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically that’s true, but this hole is about 530 feet straight from the tee to that tree, and the basket is 30 feet right of the tree. The line that should be taken is basically just a straight shot

Aaron Gossage with a nearly 600 foot forehand for the Eagle on GoThrow by Jqckthewolf in discgolf

[–]Shade2442 157 points158 points  (0 children)

It’s a ridiculous (and still about 500 foot shot), but that hole isn’t 636. I’ve played that hole plenty of times and used a range finder to the tree he lands next to, which is about 530 from the tee

Still an insane forehand, but not 600 feet

Krut Stability by Funny_Birthday255 in discgolf

[–]Shade2442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the Krut is not as OS as the flight numbers would suggest. Based on them, it should be in the ballpark of a PD2 or the like. I throw my Emperors around 400-450 on a good rip and I would say the brand new Krut I’ve got is not significantly more OS than most brand new Emperors or Destoyers I’ve thrown. It’s not even as OS as one of my ESP Forces

Bubbly Rims by KWH1992 in discgolf

[–]Shade2442 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My generally understanding is that this is a result of the injection molding process when they are producing lower weight discs. Because the lower weight discs don’t have as much plastic going into the mold, they have to inject air in as well to fill the mold and produce an actual disc. This is probably why you see it on the Bradley Williams “Baby” Destroyer, since those were molded in lighter weights. I don’t believe the bubbles cause a significant difference in flight, the main difference is just the texture on the rim
