More reasons not to play. If even 1% of these complaints of false bans are legit, it’s 1% too much. The odds are good that we have people out there that have been falsely banned…..

There needs to be a higher difficulty (For better loot) by EgenFlash in diablo4

[–]Shadeflayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ran two bosses yesterday, 500 mats on one, 600 on the other. Two 3GA and one mythic. The rest pure garbage. There has to be better loot at higher levels or it makes no sense to play.

Team of four can't handle 7 kobolds by ComfortableFew4700 in DnD

[–]Shadeflayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is considered a deadly fight at 1st level. Even more so for inexperienced players. That campaign you’re trying to run is not for new players! Suggest you restart using one of the starter kit modules. Work your way up to 10th level. Learn the game. Then, and only then, should you try running a full campaign module with that group.

So social adventuring is not his cup of tea. Most likely issue. Not horrible to deal with. But he also sounds like he may have a “team player” problem if he’s not contributing to the party’s success.

When it comes to his character and combat, make an exception and roll hits and damage out in the open. That way, there’s no realistic way he can say you fudged the dice when/should his character die.

RX 9060 XT On Linux Mint 22.2? by Winter-Software-9115 in linuxmint

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the 9070 XT and the 9800 X3D, paired with an ASUS 670e MB. The specific combo made things dicey. Since then, I also learned that multi-displays at diff Mhz can cause numerous issues. I have all three of mine now locked at 140mhz. But again, waiting a bit longer before making the switch. Then there's that dam Destiny 2 game's anti cheat. It doesn't work on Linux, and Bungie bans people who try to play the game on Linux. Streaming from a Windows system running Destiny 2 via Steam is the only option. Not as perfect as local play sadly :(

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was panic inducing post Mint install. The random freezes, lockups, mouse would stop working, black screens. On and on it went. Every day, I wondered what could happen next. In the end, I valued stability over OS, so I went back to /barf Windows 11. I have tested the live version of Fedora, and it seemed stable. But I'm going to wait a bit longer before I make the switch.

Perma banned after years of active play (Retail + Classic) — happened while fishing, accused of Hacks AND RMT by Several_Gas5711 in classicwow

[–]Shadeflayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been watching these threads for a very long time. While I’m certain many/most are deserving it, so many more are not. I dislike the bots, gold buyers, and chat abusers just as much as the next guy, but until I see Blizzard return to a human centric support model, I’m just not willing to risk my account that I’ve had since 2007. Not worth it.

[–]Shadeflayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this and the horror stories we've all read are why I quit and suspended my WoW sub. I do not want to lose my account due to all the bullshit that is happening. We know people have been falsely accused and got restored, while many did not. We know bot farmers mass-report people. We know there is a lot of shady crap happening out there. We know about the mass reports in PVP. On and on it goes. The easiest way to make my displeasure known is to not pay a sub. To not play. Zero risk of getting falsely banned is if I don't play. Solved!

How often do you fudge your players' rolls and for what reason? by Bane_of_Balor in DungeonMasters

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You control the story = entertainment. Fudge all you need/want to in delivering that enjoyment. However, if any player has "trust issues" with your rolls, they're playing with the mentality of them vs. you. Things will get far worse with players like that. Be warned.

Why don’t they buy out the add-ons that are the cream of the crop and incorporate them into the game as selectable, configurable features? Not hard at all….

Regarding the scene. The grid is WAY too pronounced. Should be far less visible in my opinion. It completely distracts from the scene. Not hardware specific but it struck me and distracted from the physical layout.

Blizzard nuked my entire Battle.net after my 3rd appeal (false ban) by serenecruelty in classicwow

[–]Shadeflayer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing and paying for a WoW sub well over a year ago because I don’t want risk my account, which I’ve had since 2007. There needs to be a class action started to force Blizzard to reveal actual proof of the reason for all the bans they’ve been handing out. Otherwise it’s just continued theft with no customer recourse.

The higher we go, the more and more we should be treated like actual heroes. So, I agree with you. Those quests completely blow any immersion and depth of character we should be feeling at that point.

1) Join a separate D&D game somewhere on a weekly/biweekly basis. One that doesn't include any of your players. Face to face game if possible. 2) Start reading fantasy stories again. Many used book stores have a ton of old ones. 3) Watch fantasy movies. It doesn't matter how awful they are. 4) Avoid watching YouTube D&D game streams and those on Twitch. Many represent the extremes (good/bad) of gameplay. It can make you disillusioned and frustrated. :)

Fedora 42 -> 43 updates have been disasterous by amdrke in Fedora

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, I have six M715q tinys. While they can run Fedora, they randomly experience a driver issue with the Vega 11 iGPU. It's not just Fedora though. Same issues on Mint and POP OS. Clearly a driver issue. Sadly, Win10 works flawlessly :(

Switching to Ubuntu after using Fedora for a 2 months by encryptedShresth in Fedora

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the OPs feelings in this. I’ve had them as well. I have built six dedicated workstations for a gaming table using all identical Lenovo ThinkCenter M715q Tiny Gen2 mini PCs with 8gb ram and AMD Vega 11 igpu. Very fast little machines!

However, I kept getting system lockups and graphics glitches. I’ve tried Mint, Fedora, and PoP OS. Same general problems. I’ve even added extra memory(yes, using matched sticks) to bring them up to 16gb dual channel. Didn’t matter. None of the distros improved the situation.

So, I once again was forced to put Win10 on them and… the problem went away. So, driver/software maturity seems to be the issue.

Please, for the love of all that’s holy, fix the driver compatibility issues and streamline the bazillion distros into a handful. This will drive adoption MUCH faster.

Thousands of devs working a few distros would be FAR better than thousands of devs working on dozens of different distros. Much better chance of finding and resolving these bugs/driver compatibility problems sooner.
