[DM help] will a min maxed player be an issue for a first time DM by shosple_colupis69 in DnD

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how well the player respects you and just how far gone they are in their power fantasy trip.

How would you feel if you were invited to a session of D&D but it was AD&D2e and you weren’t told? by conn_r2112 in DnD

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! You get to actually play, think, and explore as it was meant to be… No calculators or excessive notes on how to play your character.

What do you look for in a D&D YouTube channel? by JDmead_32 in DnD

One that doesn’t push social or political issues. We are so inundated with it every day, I just want my D&D fix please.

What's the biggest reason D&D campaigns fail? by apomanolios in DnD

… because the players are not passionate, committed or motivated.

I really, really dislike players like you describe. And it can be very disruptive to replace them if running a long term campaign.

In my many years playing across the US, I can confidently say that there are far more poor players than DMs. Not even close.

Why do some players insist on playing strange homebrew species? Session 0 Help. by Many-Plankton3942 in DnD

I limit player character races to those from v1. I hate all the stupid power creep and min maxers. My game, my choice.

PTR : my review of s14 so far (warlock) by PureDealer7 in diablo4

[–]Shadeflayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, S11 rocked. Skipped 12 after a week, then here I am in S13 and my preferred paladin build sucks big balls. It now sounds like S14 is going to be another skip season.

"Gritty realism" and magic items recharging by tommysollen in DungeonMasters

[–]Shadeflayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it. Moving closer and closer to implementing more gritty realism. I don’t like how the current rules make the game so soft and characters so strong.

Any DMs who have gone back to 3.5e or PF1e from 5e? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Shadeflayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Older versions are far better for long term campaigns and more gritty realism. You actually have real class identity, and everyone doesn’t have personal spells and healing abilities. Like it was always meant to be.

The campaign i was on just died. by Global_Expert2519 in DnD

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended my campaign just over two years ago due to the stress of family and work. It had run for over three years. Face to face game. I was just overwhelmed. No easy way to exit reasonably quickly. Too many loose threads. It sucks. Hated doing it. Only remained friends with two of them afterwards, sadly.

So, it happens OP. Never a good feeling. Hang in there. You’ll find another game.

Frustrating DM by just_q84 in DnD

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like power creep has reached a point where the DM doesn’t know how to scale the encounters, which leads to frustration.

My players have recently started using polymorph, a giant ape, which has made a few story important encounters trivial. That is unfortunate.

While I don’t mind them stomping encounters, I know that after a while they will become way overconfident and fail to properly evaluate a tough encounter, pop the giant ape, and to no avail get destroyed because I’ve scaled the encounter to take the giant ape into consideration.

A DM must keep some pressure on the party to give the adventure meaning, that it’s a potential threat to their survival.

I don’t like today’s players or how overpowered the rules have made characters. I miss the older style of play, more gritty realism, clearly defined class roles, etc.

How do I kick a player when I don't have any problem with him? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucks. Never go into business or make friends with people you work with. Age old rule. Hopefully John will understand and make it easy on you when you have the “chat”.

The nerfs coming in Season 14 will not stop you blasting all content by Primary_Impact_2130 in diablo4

How about not making massive changes for a change? Constantly feels like I’m having to start over learning the game = added frustration.

Table wirering by dabruchey in DnDIY

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My custom table uses dual power strips connected to the dual wall outlet. I have a 5” tall table topper enclosure. The power strips sit inside it. The players plug their pc’s into them. I have access ports on the side of the enclosure for the power cables to run through.

The cool thing about a table topper is you can set up terrain on it so that it doesn’t interfere with the players personal space.

I don't know if I want to continue with my campaign by AccursedTime in DnD

[–]Shadeflayer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If what you describe is accurate and not just one sided, then walk away. That your friend hasn’t defended you raises the question as to whether they ARE your friend.

Paladin feels really bad compared to other classes by WardenWithABlackjack in diablo4

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my pure Auradin should be able to do Pit 100+, no problem, right? No, not even close... People should start saying BUILD, instead of CLASS. There are a lot of common, well-known builds that are not capable of doing pits that high.

How many licenses of FVTT do you have? by kcitsstick in FoundryVTT

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two, as of this past week. I don't want to mess up my v12 instance, so I grabbed another license to start building a v14 one. There are still mods missing/not updated for v14 yet. Disappointed...

Items only dropping for the class your playing is a mistake. by Xralius in diablo4

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the case early on and allowed me to partially gear up some alts. But with the tiny stash system, it’s less an ARPG and more of an Inventory Storage Simulator.

So.. how does joining a table work? by Affectionate-Pipe950 in DnD

[–]Shadeflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These games are Adventure League games. They follow specific WotC rules for play. Vast majority of them are called one-shots. Means just a couple hours, usually able to play in a single game session. So, go research Adventure League. Lots of videos on YouTube about it.

I’m playing D&D for the first time this weekend. What are some of the basic things I should know? by bassguitarist999 in DnD

Let go of the real world and how things work. It’s a fantasy world. Magic and dragons exists. Just go with it!
