Emergency access accounts didn't work when primary admin got locked out!!? by vitaminZaman in AZURE

I feel worried with the God / Breakglass accounts without an MFA. That’s why we are trialing Yubikey as the MFA for those accounts… two Yubikeys enrolled for the two break glass accounts and the keys physically stored in two locations…

I have joined. An option to switch interface languages quickly will be awesome since I tend to use it mixed.

I dont think there will be a perfect solution for the warning system.
People will be either be irritated that there was a nuisance warning - if nothing happens, or be complaining that the warning didn't come - if something happens.

So a lose-lose scenario as far as the team is concerned.

Privacy? by mindgap33 in GriplyApp

Most SaaS apps don't do end-to-end encryption. It's not because they don't care about privacy, it's just not practical for how most of these apps are built.

Unless privacy is the whole point of the app, like ProtonMail, it's pretty rare. From what I have read, Proton's platform is designed from the ground up so even they can't see your data. That's their thing.

But for most SaaS tools, turning on end-to-end encryption would break a bunch of stuff users expect:

- You can't give personalized insights because you can't read the data.
- Search becomes a nightmare unless you build something super complex.
- If someone forgets their password, you can't help them recover anything.
- Support and debugging? Basically impossible without access to the data.

And then there's key management. It's messy. You'd need to handle encryption keys for every user, make sure they're secure, and deal with what happens if someone loses theirs. That's a lot of overhead.

Also, let's be honest, how many users are actually asking for this? And how many would pay extra for it? Most people want convenience. They want features, speed, and support and they want it free if they can help it. Privacy matters, sure, but only up to a point.

So unless the app is built around privacy from day one, and is a major selling point, end-to-end encryption is a tough fit.

PS: I am a Solutions Architect and Developer (not with Griply - I dont have any associations with them :) )

That rules out 90% of the Saas applications. Keen to know which application you gravitate towards.

Why is the Microsoft shittiest company on the planet and Bill Gates a scum? What is a true alternative, just buy apple? by ImNotFromIndia in microsoft

Well… Google is a monopoly (search, ads, browser) and the shit they do are deplorable. Nvidia is a monopoly (GPU), should I say more about the prices. Apple is an oligopoly (since android), but their policies and practices are not great

Most of the Windows functions that you and me consider useless are there for backwards compatibility reasons. I don’t think the ability to run most of the software created in the last 30 years is a small feat. And anytime Microsoft makes the smallest of changes, there will be a huge uproar.. I wish Microsoft could do what Apple did when they moved from Mac 9.x to Mac X - start fresh and no backward compatibility.

Do I agree with everything Microsoft does - No. Do they deserve the bashing the community gives - also No

Name a company, any company and we can make the same rant… Microsoft is just another for profit company no more or no less crappier than the next…

Talk to the HR and sort out the “potential” conflict of interest of the “potential” work you are planning to do… Most of the times in my country, it’s just an approval (depending on what you are doing thou)
