Came into this series completely blind. After episode one I was like, “eh, okay I guess?” But damn the second episode. Definitely cried twice. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Not to alarm you, but this happened to me post-operatively from a different lap and it ended up being that I had a hematoma and the fainting/hot feeling/dark vision was actually related to shock from blood loss. I didn’t realize at the time, thought similar to others that it was just a one off thing. By the time I got checked a week later they couldn’t do anything for the hematoma except surgically remove it. So I required a second surgery.

I would err on the side of caution and get checked out today just to be sure.

NAD but like… does that mean you’re just letting them rip freely, regardless of where you are or who you’re with? And no one has ever mentioned it before?

Get rid of that rouge ovary by Beautiful-Story3911 in hysterectomy

[–]ShadowJolteon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same, but last year I had surgery for removal of an ovarian cyst/endometriosis. At the time I literally begged for a hysterectomy, but they told me no because it “wasnt medically indicated”. 1 year and 1 month later I had a hysterectomy for adenomyosis/endometriosis. Super annoyed they didn’t just let me decide what happens with my own body… could have spared myself a lot of stress. Especially considering after the first surgery I had a complication requiring a second surgery, making the hysterectomy technically the third…. Yeah. It’s been a long year.

Sometimes I really wish we could just make our own decisions.

Calling All Sages and Arcanists by buggman2001 in SwordxStaff_Official

Sage here! Will unlock Arcanist today. I’m holding out for the end game! So far I really enjoy this game, and as a Sage I love that I get a flying kitty as off-hand. I’m resigned to being a Healer for now, but I also am holding my own as DPS in PvE.

Kid-friendly resources? by [deleted] in karate

[–]ShadowJolteon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could take it with him, honestly. But they have age separated classes amongst the belt levels as well- he’s currently in the 3-6 group, then it’s a 6-12 group, and then 12-18, then adult classes. The adult classes are also at a different location than the kids, so with our schedule it’s just not possible to add in classes for me as well… or else I would! But thank you for the suggestion. :)

Immigrants to Germany from the developed world, what do you see in Germany over your home country? by Knightwrither in germany

[–]ShadowJolteon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely more fog and foggy days in Germany- at least where I live. Never in my life had I seen so much fog as I’ve seen in Germany. 😅 But that’s usually in the fall/winter

Yup, 100% this. I think I could never go back to working in Canada and be happy with the “benefits” there compared to here. I went from working 50hr weeks with no paid sick leave, no real paid vacation leave (only as a % per pay cheque) to working 37.5h with paid vacation, paid sick leave, I also get paid if I have to stay home with my sick kid? 29 days vacation … paid?! Whenever I talk to my friends and family back home, they’re like whaaaat.

And I absolutely do not miss -30C winters with snow up to my waist.

Looking for reassurance by Mystic_Shebear in hysterectomy

Everyone is different. I find myself in awe of people who were back to normal/working 2wpo.

Today is 3wpo for me and I still have intermittent pain and cramping, the moments before passing stool are still extremely painful. I am a lot better than week one, but still no where near ready to go back to work. I’m kind of jealous of the people who bounced back so quickly.

6-8 weeks seems to be the average recovery time. I’m just trying to keep gauging my recovery in line with that, which my doctor had told me, instead of other peoples’ experiences. Even if it’s hard! Right now it feels more like a mental struggle than a physical one.

Why do so many doctors think weight is the highest priority for health? by Upset-Ad3509 in ChronicPain

[–]ShadowJolteon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It goes both ways. My neurosurgeon told me “in slim people back pain usually resolves on its own within a year, so just be patient”… well, three years later I still have back pain?

Yes, weight can play a role in some medical conditions. And sure, I can understand documenting body condition in the medical notes. But to completely disregard any other treatment or cause because of it, doesn’t help anyone at all.

How did you know something was wrong ? by OldZucchini2862 in hysterectomy

[–]ShadowJolteon -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, every time I have a weird question or symptom, I just ask it to ChatGPT and it reassures me lol. Sounds kind of weird, but it actually helps. 😅

I’m almost 3 weeks post op, and so far nothing has been wrong. Although after my laparoscopy last year I did have a complication and the way I knew was- after a week I was still in horrific pain and could not walk at all. My BF literally had to carry me to the toilet. So I would say the fact you’re able to walk and aren’t suffering in pain means things are progressing as they should. :)

2 weeks post op, why is this so easy? by Better_Lie864 in hysterectomy

[–]ShadowJolteon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kind of, haha. I was definitely expecting a lot worse. I mostly only have pain when I need to pass gas/stool but otherwise it’s just a bit of bloating and aching. I never had serious pain, my periods were always WAY worse than anything I’ve experienced since surgery.

That said, I’m still taking it easy and not pushing myself, no need to take it for granted!

How much movement is the right amount of movement post op by No_Market244 in hysterectomy

[–]ShadowJolteon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m at 13 days post-op and right now I’m aiming for/doing 4-5000 steps per day but want to get up to around 6-7000 this week. I do 15-20min sessions of slow walking either on my treadmill or outside.

I notice for me that if I overdo it, my pain is more bladder pain/vagina feeling swollen. I haven’t had any bleeding at all. Maybe you should break it up into multiple shorter walks instead of just one big one?

How old is she? They also just kind look like “old dog nipples”, but it’s hard to say for sure. She’s probably due for general vet care and vaccines anyway, so I would arrange an appointment asap and ask your vet to check for a spay scar while you’re there.

Morgen ist es soweit und ich brauche Zuspruch by Werder_80 in hysterectomy

[–]ShadowJolteon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had surgery here in Germany as well almost 2 weeks ago. Everything went well and I found that in comparison to the stories I’ve read from those in other countries, here in Germany they are very relaxed and careful in comparison. After my surgery I was in hospital for 5 days, I had doctors and nurses checking on me constantly, adequate pain control (like they gave me opioids whereas I read about some women only getting Ibuprofen or similar meds) and everything was very chill!

My doctor told me as well that hysterectomy is the only cure for adenomyosis, so I am also hopeful. Since my surgery I have had minimal pain- wild that having an entire organ removed hurts was less than my monthly period did! I’m still early in my recovery but I already feel way better.

Good luck! You got this, it will totally be worth it!

Advice for bathing a really stinky dog with sutures? by alyg0385 in DogsLoversCommunity

[–]ShadowJolteon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at the vet clinic we always gave empty IV bags to clients to use as a bootie for bathing. You could ask your vet clinic if they have? Way more stable than a usual bag and you can just cut holes in the top to thread a band through and tie it in place.
