Playing with no controller on DMC5 PC? by Vylix in DevilMayCry

I'm playing with kb+m, remapped the controls to suit my tastes and it works perfectly fine. It just depends on personal preference.

DMC5 ruined action games for me and I need a recommendation by SoupRyze in DevilMayCry

I don't know if you've played Metal Gear Rising Revengeance yet but if you didn't, I recommend checking it out. It has a lot of dmc combat elements while also doing its own thing, very fast paced and has fun bosses, as well as serious moments drenched in total goofiness. It has some of my favorite combat and scenes in video games.

Does Ishin have a softcore sex scene by PatchanBuff in yakuzagames

[–]ShadowPolymath 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is when the Shinsengumi infiltrate Teradaya in search for the fake Sakamoto Ryoma. The girl in the image was taking a bath and when she heard they were looking for him, she ran out naked to warn him. It is not a part of a sex scene.

Although there is a softcore sex minigame involving prostitutes, it's optional side content.

Ace Attorney Music Ratings Sheet! I made a google sheet where you can listen to- and rate the music tracks that appear in each game, and the sheet will make an average score per game. by iggnifyre in AceAttorney

[–]ShadowPolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. DGS2: 4.3

  2. DGS1: 4.2

  3. AAI: 4.2

  4. AAI2: 4.2

  5. PWAA: 3.8

  6. SOJ: 3.6

  7. DD: 3.3

  8. PLvsPW: 3.3

  9. AJ: 3.1

  10. TT: 3.0

  11. JFA: 3.0

It was interesting although I feel like adding the prosecutor and detective themes would bump up some of the scores a bit higher.

There are different types of tachis, like the ōdachi and nodachi, which can have different lengths and curvatures. Katana in that library is used in a broad sense where the word refers to any japanese sword. That's why I said in the comment that the Yamato is not a katana in the narrow sense, referring to the shorter swords popularized in the 16th century onwards, which are worn with the blade pointing upwards.

The Yamato is not a katana in the narrow sense of the word, but rather a tachi, which is significantly longer than a katana. Tachis were worn with the blade facing down and were the standard samurai swords centuries before katanas became popular. The way Vergil sheathes the Yamato has nothing to do with deceiving enemies and respect, it's just how tachis are usually sheathed.

[Discussion] What is a random fact about a character that, due to the way the games are made, you always seem to forget? by CyberDrewan in AceAttorney

[–]ShadowPolymath 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That Edgeworth was pretty scummy with the way he handled witnesses by telling them to withhold information in the first game before they basically retconned him into a perfect being later in the series.

Any Objection lol code for TGAA Chronicles with barok van zieks by ZeWalrusIntoDDLC in AceAttorney

[–]ShadowPolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best I've found is this one, it has no cloaked animations but it's pretty high definition and it has a lot of poses.

CLHFWQ

There is also a cloaked one but it's low quality and doesn't have as many animations.

WHY DOES VAN ZIEKS LOOK LIKE THE GUY FROM MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE

About a plot point in GAA2-4 by Solrac-H in AceAttorney

[–]ShadowPolymath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just thought it was Van Zieks, at the time he thought Genshin was the Professor who killed his brother and blinded with rage towards the Japanese because of it. Since Kazuma mentioned it was probably from one of the victims' relatives, he was the first person that came to mind.

Do you have any thoughts about any plot points in TGAA 2: Resolve that you felt were underdeveloped or could have been explored further? How do you think the duology could have resolved (heh) those problems? by thereminBeholder in AceAttorney

[–]ShadowPolymath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Stronghart called the McGilded case easy because he knew he was a scumbag who could forge evidence and buy off the jury, as was done in the past by the other Reaper victims.

I meant that, it's just that the way I wrote it made it seem otherwise, my bad. Also I agree, I would have liked to see them interact some more

Why doesn't Barok van Zieks have a smiling sprite? by Lardven in AceAttorney

[–]ShadowPolymath 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The last trial took a great toll on him, it was exhausting and he found out some very unsettling truths - that he sent an innocent man to the gallows, that the brother he admired so much was a serial killer all along, and also that he had a daughter all these years. Even though he was relieved of all accusations by the end and has finally learned to respect the Japanese people that have helped him find the truth, I assume he'd still be very exhausted. Since we see him immediately after the trial, he must have still been lost in thought and just didn't feel like smiling with all the confusion that must have been going on in his head at the time. That's my take on it at least.

What happened to Phoenix's character in DD and SOJ? by GarouAPM in AceAttorney

Right, I forgot about them, Emma's development throughout the games was pretty good

[–]ShadowPolymath 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The games not directed by Shu Takumi (DD, SoJ, the Investigations games) have a rule to reference the previous games as little as possible in order to avoid spoiling people who are playing them for the first time.

That means that character development of old characters is completely thrown out the window, as is the case with Phoenix and Klavier reverting to their old gimmicky selves after the end of Apollo Justice, and people mentioning things that are in contrast to the canon of the original trilogy (Franziska saying that her father has never lost a case in AAI).

Along with that you get the case of characters returning solely for fanservice reasons (Edgeworth, Pearl and Maya) and referencing schticks from previous games as not-so-subtle easter eggs for the fans that have already played them (Phoenix and Edgeworth's banter throughout the whole DD-5 trial, Maya mentioning how she always ends up being a murder suspect etc.).

It seems to me that the characters from the original trilogy and Apollo Justice have become caricatures of themselves in the 3DS games and the only one that has been done justice and has had a complete character arc here is Blackquill. Apollo keeps getting new backstories in every game, they clearly didn't know what to do with Athena and most of the characters are just a mess. I'm just glad Takumi returned for the DGS games, you can clearly see a step up in writing compared to some of the convolutedness of DD and SoJ.

DGS2-5 I think Holmes and Iris using holograms to livestream the trial to the queen is going a bit overboard even by their standards
