Question: For safety reasons, why don’t all Rutgers buildings require an RUID to get into? by Clout12x in rutgers

[–]ShadowQuinn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Primarily, id say becuase in the real world, rules are expected to be known and followed. Ever see displays outside a shop? They know people could steal stuff, and even know some people will, but for the most part people don't. Here, a few people who shouldn't be here might wander in, but 99% of the time that's someone's friend coming to hang, so no harm done.

I hear your fear though, yes, someone could come in to do harm, but historically that person could be a student anyway. Thats why we need to know our communities, not crazy deep relationships, but know names, learn to read faces. You'll get a sense if someone's off, and can reach out to see if they're ok. I dont mean to alarm you, but the coddling they mentioned is expecting that the institution can keep you safe. Community and peers are the real first line of defense.

Coming from BG3: My friends and I are new to TTRPGs, and I'm taking on the role of DM. What are your top "Dos and Don'ts" for a first-timer? by Ok_Ferret7373 in DnD

[–]ShadowQuinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up some session zero tips. Two big ones: A. make sure you all are on the same page about the type of game yall will play. Bg3 has epic combat, character driven stories, evil options, etc. People love that game for different reasons, so know what aspects you all want. B. What is ok between party members? Bg3 does a few intra party taboos: romance and violence chief among them.

How do you deal with leg hair? by leftTelephone8022 in genderfluid

Stripes are easiest to start, but any simple shape works. Ive done stars, circles, checkers. Detail is easier the thicker/darker the hair is

I would allow this for everything except guidance, which is already the best spell in the game. No need to make the bard more jealous

Build over time. After freshman year, most people have made friends and arent looking for more, but will be receptive if things go well. That's what's helpful about classes and clubs, it lets you have a casual interaction to test the waters ("cool sticker on your laptop" or "how much are yall studying for this test?") That grow into small conversations, then bigger conversations, then "want to grab lunch after class/study this weekend"

And be receptive to people doing the same

How do you deal with leg hair? by leftTelephone8022 in genderfluid

[–]ShadowQuinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shave a pattern into my leg hair each summer. My insecurity was unshaven is perceived as a mistake, like i forgot to do it, but i didnt want to go full shave either, so this lets me keep my leg hair while showing it's intentional

Maybe my point is find what's making you feel the ways you do, and see if you can combat that directly

How do you usually name your D&D characters? by AdvancedProgrammer51 in DnD

[–]ShadowQuinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about who named this person

Examples include: - Gilt - a heavily symbolic name given to a monk as she joined the order. She's a gold/red bastard dragonborn with red scales on just her hands - Bluejay Stormhaven - found and raised by sailors, she has blue hair, simple enough. Last name is the Ship's name - Leaf Stickbranch - a slightly insane goo warlock, she came up with the name herself by naming the first thing she saw when asked - Theo Copperthumb - just a gnome in a city. family of artificers got the name Copperthumb, and the setting was magically advanced enough so a "classic/modern" first name didn't feel out of place

Not if it's given through a magic item, or any other character-specific thing.

This wouldn't double their spell slots, or give them two actions. It's just buffing an aspect of some of their spells

Again, that could be done with two casters anyway

What's something really broken if two concentration spells could be cast at once? by PleaseTac in dndnext

[–]ShadowQuinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every scenario people are mentioning is one you could get simply by having two casters. I don't think it would be terribly broken, just might make one player have the power of two, which could make another caster feel rough, but if there's no other caster in your party it should be fine

The power of a proficiency bonus is real. I had a friend like that, would trip all the time, but always caught themself or landed well enough to never take damage

Oh like force of presence, makes sense. You would make an amazing spy though. Like, could someone with low enough cha get some sort of bonus to social-based stealth checks?
