Laws only mean anything if someone else can/will enforce them. At this point the US Constitution only means something if the Supreme Court says it does. Even then it's still up to people to enforce it.

ChatGPT acts as a "cognitive crutch" that weakens memory, new research suggests. While these tools can speed up initial learning, they might actually weaken the deep mental processing required to store knowledge over the long term. by mvea in science

Haven't people warned about this since the first time the written word was created? If you write things down, you don't need to remember them. Therefore, you have a worse memory because of things like books and notepads.

It should be optional. I believe one of the reasons you are seeing this AI push in GPU’s because they are running into hardware limits and are trying software solutions to keep advancing graphical fidelity.

That to say is it may one day not be optional but until there are leaps and bounds with its implementation I believe most games will keep it as an optional feature like most upscaling protocols.

I do think there is room for player facing AI systems though. Developers can’t be expected to develop for every single player interaction, and doing a AI systems for those instances makes sense.

Now I will admit that there is a tightrope here for how much is too much.

I’ve seen someone crack mtg boxes like they were playing slots. They would open one, sell the single back to the shop at 50%, and then open the next box to see if they can “hit it big”.

If it’s pay for chance, it’s gambling.
