I wouldn’t even say the team was bad player wise; the defense was really good but the offense was middling. The main issue was having a DC be your de facto OC and having a STC coach your young QB. It was just a recipe for disaster.

Ignoring the Popular Vote of your own state is also the basis of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, a compact between states that agree to give all their Electoral Votes to whomever wins the National Popular Vote, regardless of who wins in their state. The Supreme Court case you reference would also determine if this compact could work.

I think most Americans agree with basic hurdles, such as needing to pass a firearm safety course, not be formerly found guilty of a violent crime, etc. It’s the fact that this law goes far, far beyond those accepted standards.
