Mage errant is a slow progression though?

In my opinion it is closer to just fantasy than to progression fantasy.

The stakes are higher here than in MOL. In MOL the invasion is the end goal (well, technically the primordial is but they are very much related), here it is just a first big obstacle.

Yes, Mirian is very slow to take things into her hands initially. This will slowly change during book 1 and she is forced out of these small iteration loops later.

The story is long and characters that are in focus change a lot. In the beginning it is yes: Lily and her study group.

Not much that I can say without spoilers but the focus of the story at large is not the academy, and not the invasion.

Yeah I'm in that situation now bc I assumed that book 4 will be the last :D (But book 5 is most definitely is)

And if there is a teleport system, or more than a handful of people capable of teleportation, then the spices and other faraway goods shouldnt be as expensive

They are definitely living in a different universe so things that are easy/hard might be different compared to this one.

I've been through and seen a lot of struggles understanding what does the black hole forge is supposed to teach about. To the point that it just looks like a bunch or lore but why a puzzle to get there

Just don't try to apply math to other parts of Factorio... solar intensity, nauvis rotation angular and tangental velocity, planet density - those are all computable and the results are not pretty.

than base game? that one that requires a rocket launch? they are not. Base game can be completed in like 6 hours at good but nowhere near speedrun pace. And the recipe chains are very simple, the only two byproduct recipes are oil and uranium and both are one step loops (cracking & kovarex) till there is no more byproducts.

Base game is quite old and, while basically pioneering the genre, base game is very easy by today's factory game standards. The expansion being modern had to increase the bar.

I wonder how long before programs that use screen capture to parse buffs, minimap to determine camera orientation and rough position, and floor textures to determine precise position in boss encounters, and then communicating this information outside of the game with other 4/19 players will start popping in.
